I'm Filipino to the core, and I love Mexico and Latin America. And why shouldn't I, when my mom's ancestors came to the Philippines from Mexico during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade? Mahal ko ang Filipinas, y yo amo Mexico y toda America Latina porque somos vinculados por la cultura y la historia. Viva Mexico, Viva Filipinas, Viva la Hermanidad Hispana!
somos hermanos ANTES y HASTA SIEMPRE ..Viva mi Tierra que yo ADORO...Ang republica sang Filipinas MABUHAY...These Mujeres are BRILLIANT..make more video POR FAVOR
Yes, I do mean Cuba... So backwards that they are amongst the most educated in their hemisphere. Castro may not have given them a great economy but they are amongst some of the most educated of Latinos. These are the same so called backwards people who have raised the property values in Florida. I'm wondering if you can boast the same of your people who are being victimized by the criminals they once hailed as Robin Hood types. Talk about the kettle calling the kettle black!
I must say that you guys were better off doing a video showing Filipinos showing a kinship to Cubans. Being a Filipino-American living in East L.A., I've found that very few Mexicans care to academically differentiate the difference between a Filipino, Chinese, Japanese... As for Cubans, I found them to be a bit more educated in the mater and are able to see the parallels between our cultures and historical experiences. Put a Flip in a room with a Cuban, they are more likey to be friends.

@ZootSuitWolf Whoa!! Just hold on there, Mexicans can differentiate between a Filipino, Chinese, Japanese etc. I know that as a fact, because my best friends are Mexicans, and I'm Filipino just like you. Even my friend can say that Filipinos and Mexicans share some cultural similarities, yet they are different. And there are a minority of Filipinos that identify themselves as a colonial of Spain, but its a small percentage of the huge population.
@flamingpinkflamingo0I agree that there is a percentage that can... I too, have many friends who are of Mexican decent, especially living in the E.L.A. area. These are the ones who can make that differentiation. The point I was trying to make, was that, my experience has been that I have had to school many a Mexican of the difference between Filipinos and the other Asians. I rarely have to do the same with other Latino groups. And when I did explain that we are not "Chinitos"...(cont)
@flamingpinkflamingo0 It wasn't like they cared. I, on the other hand, do not assume every Latino is a Mexican or vise versa... Despite their disrespect of my culture, I still show their culture respect. Try calling a Guatemalan a Mexican, Or a Mexican a San Salvadoran... They will go nuts. Yet, when they do the same to Asians, they say we're making a big deal out of nothing. (cont)
@ZootSuitWolf What you don't seem to understant is that the word chinito also means of Chinese type eyes and not necessary a Chinese person. We also call those type of eyes "rasgados". Anybody that has eyes like that can be called a chinito and is not derogatory. It can actually be a term of endearment. On the other hand, "chinillo" pronounced chiniyo can be derogative depending on it's use. Many people in Mexico have that word as a nickname because, even though everyone knows....cont.
@03Terrestre I did know this, however, I do appreciate you explaining this in your reply. In fact, my friends of Mexican decent to call me this. Who I was referring to were individuals that do not know me and use it in a negative context regardless of knowing my ethnicity. They are the ignorant individuals I was speaking of and not open minded individuals such as yourself.
@flamingpinkflamingo0 With negative experiences like that, how can one find cultural camaraderie. As for Cubans... I have never met one yet, that I had to give an anthropological lecture to about Filipinos. In fact, they automatically bring up the similarities of both cultures and historical experiences... That is a hallmark of a more educated people. None-the-less, I'm glad you have had a more possitive experience than I have.
@ZootSuitWolf cont.....that they are Mexicans, there eyes are used to refer to them as El Chino or La China and is not offensive. In Mexico nicknames that may seem harsh in the English speaking world, do not have that same negative feeling in Spanish. Now I'm not saying everything is simple, there are details and subtleties involved, I'm just showing you in generic terms how it all spans out. Anyway I just gave you some insight into our Hispanic world, hope that helped too clear up some doubt.
now you bugging stop watching tv our culture and country is far more superior than philippines you guys don't even know what u really are you been getting our ass kicked for the past millennium by other countries mexico is rich in culture far more thnan u guys .. u wanna adopt the western culture but its a failed so stop trying
@elchulobx As for Mexico itself... All joking aside, I have no problem with the culture. I grew up in a predominantly Mexican area of L.A. I believe that many Mexicans are hardworking and good people. What I can't stand are the ignorant types who think that Mexico is the center of the universe and that we all must learn about their culture, yet everyone else is insignificant. I did my part in College and took Mexican history... That's a bit more than I can say about my counterparts!!!
@elchulobx No doubt that Mexico has a rich culture... Take, instance, one of your national dresses, the China Poblano. Oh wait a minute, that was one you adopted from the Philippines. How about Mexico's world famous, Manila Mango... Sorry, that one came from the Flips too. How bout those advance Aztec warriors with their stone age weaponry... Far more advance than the carbon steel our warriors had. We Flips have one thing to be proud of... We at least were weren't occupied by France!!!
@ZootSuitWolf no you were occupied by spain, japan, than USA, we mexicans fought back we defeated the French with only a hand full of farmers, we kicked them out u never won no war. where do u get the theory stone aged weapons when our civilization was far more superior and its recognized today bigger pyramid than those of Egypt. i never seen nothing coming from the philippines just go to the museums where do you see anything there showing that you filipinos ever do shit in the past no culture
@elchulobx YAWN!!! I've got news for you... I've been to your museums in Mexico city and have see things such as you national dress, "The China Poblana"... A dress inspired by Filipinos. As for stone age weapons, check out your own history. What Aztec weapon was made with metal... (ALL STONE) Nada metal!!! When the Spanish first arrived to the Philippines, we drove their asses into the sea. Cortez conquered Mexico on his first try.
@ZootSuitWolf ¿So what with the china poblana dress? You have the La Virgen de Guadalupe there, so? Aztecs were defeated by the European ills and by the other indigenous who joined Cortez side, not just Spaniards (who were easly outnumbered), Mexican territory just as the pre-Hispanic Philippines was not an unified kingdom and Aztecs had many enemies. And well, is true Aztecs never used metals, they were (oddly) happy with obsidian.
@audijam Just so that you know, the Virgin of Guadalupe's origin has it's true origins from Spain in that she was a the patron deity of a village named Guadalupe Spain, so naturally it would be exported to places that Spain colonized so if you are implying that she came to the Philippines via Mexico, you are not fully correct. However, there may have been a cultural exchange through the galion trade, it is more likely that true Spaniards brought that patron deity to the islands.
@audijam As for the China poblana, I agree it is not a big deal, however, that original post was in response to and ignorant individual who made the ridiculous statement that Filipinos want to be Mexican and that there was only a one way cultural exchange between the two cultures, no disrespect to Mexico intended, of coarse. As for the Aztecs, I agree with you that they were helped by others and if you read my other original comments correctly, you would have seen that. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! :OD
@03Terrestre You are correct. Archaeologist and Historians believe that Our Lady of Guadalupe as we know it today has it's true origins from a patron deity called, the Black Madonna, especially a the version from GUADALUPE, SPAIN, Spaniards did their usual Roman style practice of integrating indigenous lure with the Catholic beliefs to subjugate the people they conquered much easier. The original point to "audijam" was that "Guadalupe" predates the Spanish arrival to Atzlan!!!
@elchulobx As for the French... who hasn't driven them out? A small group of farmers in the Philippines were about to drive out the Spanish. The Spanish made a deal with the U.S. to surrender to them, rather than being humiliated by surrendering to a group of poor farmers. My point is not to say Mexico sucks... Rather, it is to say, stop belittling others because your culture's history is also open to scrutiny.
@elchulobx (cont.) I don't see any Proud Aztec dancing Mechistas doing Toltec dances... the people who the Aztecs stole their knowledge from. I feel Mexicans do have much to be proud off... but do not get it twisted that, like us, you have many historical flaws that should not be over looke with delutional eyes of grandure. Learn more about your own history before you dare to be condescending to others.
@elchulobx Just a bit of a footnote... We do not take pride in one of our various tribes of people over the other. When I saw the pyramids near Mexico city I was impressed... but what good is it to be proud of a monument erected by a group of people who enslaved other people (i.e. other tribes) and used them to build monuments from the sweat and blood of others..(cont.)
@ZootSuitWolf I say let's be on friendlier terms because the Philippines and Mexico actually have a common past and we should see that as a positive, it will make us both stronger.
@03Terrestre Like I've said in the past, I respect people such as yourself that engage in relevant discussions. I lived just about my whole life with people of Mexican decent in perfect harmony. I am simply giving ignorant "trollers", hostile at group of well intended Filipino School girls and their project, for what ever reason, a taste of their own medicine As for you, Trieste and others of your ethnicity, thanks for engaging in relative discussions in the past. Much respect goes out to you.
@ZootSuitWolf I get you, Ive had to do the same many a times. There will always be trollers as well as well intentioned people in every nationality. But I would like to say to Mexicans and Philippinos lets try and work together for the good of both our nationalities. Que Viva Las Filipinas!
@MEXFlGHTERS hey as a fellow Mexican we should know that we repect everyone who ever they are [unless they do something to us then that's different] I mean the filipinos never really talk about us right? We don't have much of a history together. If we go insulting people then we are going to look down upon even worse with the UK and US. I mean I honestly don't care about gringos and inglesas you know, but if we do this then they actually have a back up. Just please forget this and listen to God.
@MomoHinamori1000 Actually, I must disagree. There is a great deal of history between the 2 countries. There are Mexicans who can trace themselves to Filipinos that settled in the coastal regions during the Spanish colonial days, vice versa with some Mexicans who settled in the Philippines. IN-FACT I WOULD LIKE ALL FELLOW FILIPINOS TO REMEMBER THE MEXICAN FIGHTER PILOTS WHO RISKED OR GAVE THEIR LIVES TO HELP KEEP THE P.I. FREE FROM JAPAN. For that, I must say...VIVA MEXICO!!!
@LassieEatersReturnz Funny you say that... I take no shame in say that in some regions of the Philippines, people eat dogs. Here is even a joke: What do you call a Filipino Walking a dog.... (Answer: A vegetarian). As you can see, you'll find no shame from this Filipino on that subject, however you might want to consider this about your "Proud Aztec Culture"...(cont.)
@ZootSuitWolf cont,.....with Mexicans, in many occasions it happens in the U.S. And this is where the stereotypes begin. For example most, natiionalities immigrating to the U.S. send their better off immigrants because you actually need to be well off to make that trip and be accepted. On the other hand Mexican nationals need practically nothing, they can be dirt poor and they cross the border easily. Therefore when all those immigarnt peoples from around the world meet here they tend....cont.
@LassieEatersReturnz Did you know that the mighty Aztec race, aka: your race, also loved to sink their teeth into K-9 flesh... Yum Yum!!! Look it up yourself, it was a special breed of dog called a Xoloitzcuintle. I guess I can make the joke: What do you call "LassieEatersReturnz" ancestors walking a dog?... (Answer: A vegetarian). And the moral of the story... Check your history first before saying something stupid.
@ZootSuitWolf cont,....to compare themselves wrongly to the humble Mexicans that immigrated here, which may be the situation in your case. What they don't realize is that the Mexican elite are back in Mexico, not needing to emmigrate. So for all those who think they know who Mexicans comprise, they are in for a rude awakening, Mexicans just so happen to be among the elite of Latin America. Just because an individual here in the U.S. meets with a Mexican and thinks they are all...cont
@ZootSuitWolf cont,.... that humble, does not mean he knows how all Mexicans are. If you were to put all Mexican elite in comparison to Cubas elite, I know Mexicans surpass their numbers. You just happen to run into Cubas best which are all practically here in the U.S. With Mexicans it's the opposite, Mexico's elite are almost all in Mexico and many are even in Cuba with heavy investments in that country. So it is good to do more research in the Hispanic world you will be surprised.
@ZootSuitWolf By the way you and I are in good standing, I'm just showing some insight into the Hispanic world, so as to clear up some misunderstandings that many individuals have. For example many of Mexico's bad image that is spread to the world come from Anglo's in the U.S. for the very simple reason that they feel a thread from Mexicans. The Anglo's desperatly want to keep their supremacy in North America, and their biggest challengers are the Mexicans.
@03Terrestre Obviously, you make the common mistake of not differentiating the Gross National Product from the Human Development Index (ie. Standard of living)... Which Cuba is ranked 53rd and Mexico at 58th. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a comparative measure of life expectancy, literacy, education and standards of living for countries worldwide. 11th largest GDP... that's great... Just think how powerful Mexico would be if the people took part in the wealth of thier GDP... A great HDI!
@MEXFlGHTERS truthful? Go suck on your chihuahua. You're not fooling anyone but your kind, tonto! Go back to school before you start dissing other races.
@MEXFlGHTERS racist much? I don't see skin color being discussed in the title. Of course, Filipinos are of Malay stock (and nothing else). Mexicans, on the other hand, are bastardos. No way Anglos but were raped by them that's why they look half something else.
@xxElitaOnexx Having a European heritage doesn't make Mexicans "bastardos"... but it does make all Filipinos jealous, since they pretend they are part Spanish all the time.... LOL
So where exactly did you derive that "It makes all Filipinos jealous since they "pretend" they are part Spanish "all" the time"? Your head? Because frankly, no one gives a shit. (Plus it's totally biased and makes no sense.
@Kukiee I've heard first-hand so many Filipinos say they're Spanish... its unbelievable. If you don't give a shit, dont comment. Keep pretending, I don't care.
@03Terrestre Its ridiculous you even think that there is an "us"... there is not. The Hispanic world doesn't include filipinos, there is no "us". There are no real connections between our people and yours, only what you imagine.
@DonMiguel1810 There is an us, a percentage of Philippinos are Hispanic. The historical and genetic evidence is overwhelming. The Philippinos who think they are Hispanic probably have good reason to think so. Why are you so negative? Why do you call the Islands cheap? You say Spain, Mexico and the Philippines were never one, yet you contradict yourself by saying Mexico City & Madrid ruled the Philippines!
@03Terrestre Just because they ruled the islands doesn't come come close to meaning they were "one". So the philippines is also one with Morocco, Equatorial Guinea in Africa, etc..? Why not mention them? Because filipinos die to be associated with Spain & Mexico. So they were ruled by Mexico/Madrid, whatever remains as a link is barely negligible... filipinos and the actual Hispanic world have such small ties, and any little thing is magnified by filipinos. Get over it.
@DonMiguel1810 Yes, it comes so close that it slaps you in the face! At the time when the Spanish Empire was the most powerful on the face of the Earth, all encompassed within the empire were one entity whether you like it or not. Even though it's people were different, it was one political unit.
@03Terrestre Your argument was that we were "one" people... so we've established the politics, but in every other sense, we were NOT one. Even simpler. Ciao
@DonMiguel1810 Duh, even now, All Americans are not one, all Mexicans are not one, all Philippinos are not one, all French are not one, all Russians are not one, all Chinese are not one, etc etc. Every country can be divided among different ethnicities within the same people. Yucatecos are very different from Sonorenses but they are equally Mexican. If you are brown with brown eyes, and I am white with blue eyes we can still be both 100% Mexican. Case closed!
@03Terrestre You've veered off from the original idiotic statement you made in the beginning. I have blue and green eyes/blonde black red hair in my family, we are Mexicans... I've never stated what Mexicans "are" phenotypically. You've left the convo.
@DonMiguel1810 Even though we are all different, different colors, accents, hight, what have you, with all our differences, Mexico and the Philippines were still part of the same Spanish Empire.
@DonMiguel1810 (cont.) Let's just face the facts that Filipinos resisted being raped by Spaniards a bit harder. Need I have to remind you that Cortez came home to glory wearing Aztec gold, vs, Magellan not coming home at all... :oD
@DonMiguel1810 (cont.) I do apologies about one thing... It was documented that on my ancestors on mt Fathers side, from Cebu, was conscripted into the Spanish navy and did his part to oppress the Mexican people. This is a fact that we are not proud of in our family and you'll find that the average Filipino does not proudly identify themselves as a colonial of Spain as much as the people of Latin America.
@DonMiguel1810 "Ok, so politically, Mexico City and Madrid ruled the Philippines... and"
I agree with you that a Spaniard, appointed Vice Roy (a real Spaniard) ruled the Philippines from Mexico City, but if you are implying that Mexicans ruled the Philippines, I beg to differ. Not to mention that the Spaniards were unable to conquer all of the Philippines unlike all of Latin America.
Who so ever called Mexicans "Bastardos" is wrong. As a person who has had a chance to study Mexican history, it is a very vibrant culture. Who I do have a problem with, any ethnicity, Filipinos included, who have ethnocentric delusions of grandeur and how they think everyone is jealous of their culture. Wake up! Thinking that you are European is delusional. If you think I'm joshing you take a good look at how some whites treat Mexicans.lol. ..not like fellow Europeans. Despiértese, Don Mike!
@ZootSuitWolf If you get free education like in welfare Cuba, something better come out or else. Mexico is way better than Cuba by far. Mexico is the 11th economic power in the world, only ten out of 199 countries are above Mexico, I call that kicking some major ass!
@ZootSuitWolf When a baby is born and is taken care of because they are unable to fend for themselves, that baby (Cuban population) has a very high HDI. But when that umbelicle cord is severed as with the Russians with the ex Soviet Union, they show their true mettal and flownder because they are forced to survive without help like the rest of the world. When you are given basically everything, of course your HDI elevates. When you have to compete on your own, things don't come that easy........
@03Terrestre Mexico has a similar "umbilical" cord with the U.S.A. called NAFTA. As for being 11th in GNP, Let's take China, who is second to the U.S.A... Can you honestly say that they have a better standard of living than Nations with lower GNP's such as Switzerland or Canada, for example?
@ZootSuitWolf Cuba has had historically, an umbilical cord to Mexico. When Latin America decided to turn it's back on Cuba and blockade it, Mexico was the only Latin country to defend it, which made the U.S / Mexico relations heat up to the near point of breakage. As you describe your point on GDP, Cuba 110.9 Billion, Mexico 1,500.0 Trillion , nonetheless Mexico's still has a higher per individual GDP, Cuba 9,700 to Mexico's 13,200. Many people when they first make contact.....cont.
@03Terrestre Please do not misinterpret me as putting down Mexico... I'm just making the point that it is not as well off as you think. If you go back to the genesis of our volley of discussions, You said that Cuba was backwards compared to Mexico and to a degree you were right. But Mexico has the advantage of having open trade with the U.S., Cuba doesn't, yet Cuba does a great job surviving.
@03Terrestre As for me pointing out that Filipinos have more in common with Cubanos, than Mexicans, this again is not to insult Mexico. Historically, Filipinos and Cubans were colonized by Spain and liberated by the U.S. at the same time. These similarities make for great cultural discussions between the 2. I have many Mexican friends but do not find a connection with them in a historical and cultural sense like I do with my Cuban friends... None the less, they are all friends to me the same.
@ZootSuitWolf Its made known by many Filipinos that they want to be more Spanish/Latin. They try to find any link to Mexico, Latin America, Spain, etc. That in itself is trying to be what your not, so don't tell me about that. And if you mean American "whites", you aren't totally correct. They have the highest rates of intermarriage. Historically many Mexican families married into American "white" families, especially in the Southwest. Also, Italians, Germans, etc. do treat Mexicans w/ respect.
@DonMiguel1810 You say that Filipinos try to find a link to be Spanish and even make a more absurd claim that they are trying to be Mexican. I'm curios to see the sociological sources that substantiate your idiotic claims. If Filipinos are trying to be more Spanish, please explain why the there was a movement in the Philippines to replace Spanish based linguistical systems, such as numerical counting and street systems, with that of the indigenous "Tagalog" language, yet they want to be Spanish?
@ZootSuitWolf Please answer why after the Spaniards were disgraced and driven out of the Philippines, Latin and Spanish Catholic masses were replaced by, yet again, the indigenous language of Tagalog. Maybe that pseudo-intellect of yours can explain why so-called Spanish wannabes replaced the insignificant language of Castilian Spanish, taught in their schools, with a more internationally relevant language of English. Again, this does not sound like a people obsessed with Spain?
@DonMiguel1810 Please answer why after the Spaniards were disgraced and driven out of the Philippines, Latin and Spanish Catholic masses were replaced by, yet again, the indigenous language of Tagalog. Maybe that pseudo-intellect of yours can explain why so-called Spanish wannabes replaced the insignificant language of Castilian Spanish, taught in their schools, with a more internationally relevant language of English. Again, this does not sound like a people who are obsessed with Spain?
@DonMiguel1810 Please point out were in Filipino culture, have Filipinos taken something culturally Mexican and have integrated it into Filipino culture? If we were trying to be Mexican, than maybe a brilliant "Subject of the Great Spanish empire " such as yourself can point it out... Otherwise, please refrain from engaging such idiotic rhetoric to begin with.
@DonMiguel1810 Maybe you can psychologically analyze how my grand father can be a direct descendant of a true Spaniard from Austuria Spain, who served as an officer in the Spanish Imperial Navy, yet disliked or shunned anything Spanish. I can document my decent from Spain, yet the only flags you'll find in my house are that of the Philippines and U.S.A. No Spanish flags in my house and the closest to a Mexican flag I have is on a spacial edition, "cinco de mayo" bottle of corona.
@DonMiguel1810 As for you making the point that Mexicans as an ethnic group have the highest rate of interracial marriages with white Americans... Why wouldn't that be the case? There are more Mexicans who enter the U.S. than any other non-Caucasian groups. Please explain how this makes you the "virtually-white" ethnicity you claim to be?According to your twisted logic, since many of my relatives married Caucasians, does that make me white...LOL? Try making that point to a Clansmen or Neo-Nazi.
@DonMiguel1810 You say that Germans treat Mexicans with respect... You mean the same Germany who's Adolf Hitler called Latinos a mongrel race. How about the Italians who view Spaniards in the same light a Sicilians,... Half breed moors. Maybe you can explain my IGNORANT college ex-roommate from Switzerland, who hated Mexicans for no understandable reason and was quoted as calling Spaniards, "one step above a Turk and 2 steps above a Gypsy in Europe." Face it, you are not white, Don Mike!
@DonMiguel1810 I will admit to one thing... occasionally I will run into a Filipino or 2, who does have a colonial mentality and is misguided enough to think that having a Spaniard in his or her family lineage in some way impresses people and makes them special enough to view other ethnicities in a condescending manner. I guess Filipinos and Mexicans do have something in common after all... Filipinos have those individuals and Mexico has you, Don Mike... (Evil LOL)!!! :oD
@MEXFlGHTERS I think most Filipinos are Malay descents but there is also huge number of Filipinos with Spanish descent, I can say that because I see it and to see is to believe..
Thanks for your opinion, i'll be sure to remember that. By the way, the only thing I wanted to say in this video is that Mexico and the Philippines share some similarities in terms of culture and interests, there's no denying that. Also given the fact that both countries are Catholic further emphasizes my point. And why the hell would we want to look Mexican anyway. Seriously.
@Kukiee Mexicans are most similar to other Latinos, we have very similar cultures, Catholic religion, traditions, language and ethnic background of Spanish, Native, African blood. We are not that similar to Filipinos by an means. We dont consider Filipinos Latino or Hispanic. I don't understand why Filipinos think they're Latino or like Mexicans, you guys need to get that out of your head. Miss Mexico 2010 sure didn't look like Miss Philipines, she looked like the other Latinas.
@Kukiee Yes, Mexicans and Philippinos do have a lot in common, three centuries of being the same country. of course you are right, Saludos from a Mexican who looks kindly to the Philippines.
@03Terrestre Mexico and the Philippines were not "the same country". Mexico City RULED the territories in Asia for the Spanish crown. That is NOT "the same country."
@DonMiguel1810 What the heck is wrong with you? I can sense hatered in you. Spain, Mexico and the Philippines were all one country under the Spanish Empire Duh!
@03Terrestre Whats the heck is wrong with those filipinos who think they're "Hispanic"...? Thats a better question. Sense whatever you'd like, the countries were never one, only a cheap chain of asian islands ruled by Mexico City & Madrid.
@MORTUS510 and ur a stupid beaner who can't afford to go to school, hell mexicans don't have what it takes to learn. go to ur taco stand and sell cheap tacos who cause direah and hell dediant digestion too.
@copypacercopypacer How dare you insult the race instead of this one person. Why are you insulting my people when your mad at one man. I mean that was a load of ignorance right there to. Why do you have to stoop to his level to insult the whole race. I can say a load of stuff to but I'm not because I don't believe in that mest up way of argueing. So please refrain from that again because it hurts. We have feelings to we're all human.
@MomoHinamori1000 ok, who the hell said it was just to this one MAN, i am reffering to many other people. epsecially due to the fact they make fun of my other race
@copypacercopypacer I'm not saying you are, I'm SAYING you should. If people are making fun of your other race, why follow them? Tell me why. Are you really going to their level. How could you as a person bring up the race where they were born on an argument. That's just pathetic. I know that guy is making fun of your race BUT your making it worse by making me mad. Seriously, why would you do that. Your insulting my people who did nothing to you. Now if you do that, it involves us all.
lol....you guys are funny but you know why i guess if you guys dont talked anymore spanish is becuase you like it that way....but we as mexicans are really proud of our castellano....cause at least we speak two of the most important languages of the world.....viva mexico and filipinas too....
While "Some" Mexicans are bad mouthing Filipinos and throwing nonsense whit at Filipinos, we Filipinos on the other hand choose "try" show videos that foster friendship with them. And that my friend tells a great deal about the attitude of the Filipino towards Mexico. It's unfortunate that some Mexicans choose the opposite.
I think it's because the Philippines had lost its Hispanic heritage. The Americans were very successful in erasing the Hispanic influence with one of their own through education.
The Mexicans do not feel close cultural kinship with us because we don't even speak Spanish anymore.
Gone were the days when Senators and Congressmen spoke Spanish in their debates.
@zulfikarl True. The Americans were far more effective in "educating" us in their language than the Spanish were. Plus the American propaganda during their "administration" evilizing the Spanish didn't really help preserve the use of the Spanish language either. My grandfather spoke very fluent Spanish. He was born Oct 1896, 2 months before Rizal was shot. I could still remember him chatting with some of his old friends in the academe in Spanish when I was still a little boy. How I envied them.

ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
I must say that you guys were better off doing a video showing Filipinos showing a kinship to Cubans. Being a Filipino-American living in East L.A., I've found that very few Mexicans care to academically differentiate the difference between a Filipino, Chinese, Japanese... As for Cubans, I found them to be a bit more educated in the mater and are able to see the parallels between our cultures and historical experiences. Put a Flip in a room with a Cuban, they are more likey to be friends.

@ZootSuitWolf Yeah, Cuba, the backward country in Latin America.

And there are a minority of Filipinos that identify themselves as a colonial of Spain, but its a small percentage of the huge population.
flamingpinkflamingo0 8 months ago
@flamingpinkflamingo0I agree that there is a percentage that can... I too, have many friends who are of Mexican decent, especially living in the E.L.A. area. These are the ones who can make that differentiation. The point I was trying to make, was that, my experience has been that I have had to school many a Mexican of the difference between Filipinos and the other Asians. I rarely have to do the same with other Latino groups. And when I did explain that we are not "Chinitos"...(cont)
ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
@flamingpinkflamingo0 It wasn't like they cared. I, on the other hand, do not assume every Latino is a Mexican or vise versa... Despite their disrespect of my culture, I still show their culture respect. Try calling a Guatemalan a Mexican, Or a Mexican a San Salvadoran... They will go nuts. Yet, when they do the same to Asians, they say we're making a big deal out of nothing. (cont)
ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf What you don't seem to understant is that the word chinito also means of Chinese type eyes and not necessary a Chinese person. We also call those type of eyes "rasgados". Anybody that has eyes like that can be called a chinito and is not derogatory. It can actually be a term of endearment. On the other hand, "chinillo" pronounced chiniyo can be derogative depending on it's use. Many people in Mexico have that word as a nickname because, even though everyone knows....cont.
03Terrestre 8 months ago
@03Terrestre I did know this, however, I do appreciate you explaining this in your reply. In fact, my friends of Mexican decent to call me this. Who I was referring to were individuals that do not know me and use it in a negative context regardless of knowing my ethnicity. They are the ignorant individuals I was speaking of and not open minded individuals such as yourself.
ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago
@flamingpinkflamingo0 With negative experiences like that, how can one find cultural camaraderie. As for Cubans... I have never met one yet, that I had to give an anthropological lecture to about Filipinos. In fact, they automatically bring up the similarities of both cultures and historical experiences... That is a hallmark of a more educated people. None-the-less, I'm glad you have had a more possitive experience than I have.
ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf cont.....that they are Mexicans, there eyes are used to refer to them as El Chino or La China and is not offensive. In Mexico nicknames that may seem harsh in the English speaking world, do not have that same negative feeling in Spanish. Now I'm not saying everything is simple, there are details and subtleties involved, I'm just showing you in generic terms how it all spans out. Anyway I just gave you some insight into our Hispanic world, hope that helped too clear up some doubt.

elchulobx 1 year ago
@elchulobx As for Mexico itself... All joking aside, I have no problem with the culture. I grew up in a predominantly Mexican area of L.A. I believe that many Mexicans are hardworking and good people. What I can't stand are the ignorant types who think that Mexico is the center of the universe and that we all must learn about their culture, yet everyone else is insignificant. I did my part in College and took Mexican history... That's a bit more than I can say about my counterparts!!!
ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
@elchulobx No doubt that Mexico has a rich culture... Take, instance, one of your national dresses, the China Poblano. Oh wait a minute, that was one you adopted from the Philippines. How about Mexico's world famous, Manila Mango... Sorry, that one came from the Flips too. How bout those advance Aztec warriors with their stone age weaponry... Far more advance than the carbon steel our warriors had. We Flips have one thing to be proud of... We at least were weren't occupied by France!!!
ZootSuitWolf 8 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf no you were occupied by spain, japan, than USA, we mexicans fought back we defeated the French with only a hand full of farmers, we kicked them out u never won no war. where do u get the theory stone aged weapons when our civilization was far more superior and its recognized today bigger pyramid than those of Egypt. i never seen nothing coming from the philippines just go to the museums where do you see anything there showing that you filipinos ever do shit in the past no culture
elchulobx 7 months ago
@elchulobx YAWN!!! I've got news for you... I've been to your museums in Mexico city and have see things such as you national dress, "The China Poblana"... A dress inspired by Filipinos. As for stone age weapons, check out your own history. What Aztec weapon was made with metal... (ALL STONE) Nada metal!!! When the Spanish first arrived to the Philippines, we drove their asses into the sea. Cortez conquered Mexico on his first try.
ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf ¿So what with the china poblana dress? You have the La Virgen de Guadalupe there, so? Aztecs were defeated by the European ills and by the other indigenous who joined Cortez side, not just Spaniards (who were easly outnumbered), Mexican territory just as the pre-Hispanic Philippines was not an unified kingdom and Aztecs had many enemies. And well, is true Aztecs never used metals, they were (oddly) happy with obsidian.
audijam 3 months ago
@audijam Just so that you know, the Virgin of Guadalupe's origin has it's true origins from Spain in that she was a the patron deity of a village named Guadalupe Spain, so naturally it would be exported to places that Spain colonized so if you are implying that she came to the Philippines via Mexico, you are not fully correct. However, there may have been a cultural exchange through the galion trade, it is more likely that true Spaniards brought that patron deity to the islands.
ZootSuitWolf 3 months ago
@audijam As for the China poblana, I agree it is not a big deal, however, that original post was in response to and ignorant individual who made the ridiculous statement that Filipinos want to be Mexican and that there was only a one way cultural exchange between the two cultures, no disrespect to Mexico intended, of coarse. As for the Aztecs, I agree with you that they were helped by others and if you read my other original comments correctly, you would have seen that. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! :OD

@ZootSuitWolf It is said that Juan Diego said she identified herself as Coatlaxupeh in Nahuatl and the priest Hispanisized it to Guadalupe.
03Terrestre 3 months ago
@03Terrestre You are correct. Archaeologist and Historians believe that Our Lady of Guadalupe as we know it today has it's true origins from a patron deity called, the Black Madonna, especially a the version from GUADALUPE, SPAIN, Spaniards did their usual Roman style practice of integrating indigenous lure with the Catholic beliefs to subjugate the people they conquered much easier. The original point to "audijam" was that "Guadalupe" predates the Spanish arrival to Atzlan!!!
ZootSuitWolf 3 months ago
@elchulobx As for the French... who hasn't driven them out? A small group of farmers in the Philippines were about to drive out the Spanish. The Spanish made a deal with the U.S. to surrender to them, rather than being humiliated by surrendering to a group of poor farmers. My point is not to say Mexico sucks... Rather, it is to say, stop belittling others because your culture's history is also open to scrutiny.
ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago
@elchulobx (cont.) I don't see any Proud Aztec dancing Mechistas doing Toltec dances... the people who the Aztecs stole their knowledge from. I feel Mexicans do have much to be proud off... but do not get it twisted that, like us, you have many historical flaws that should not be over looke with delutional eyes of grandure. Learn more about your own history before you dare to be condescending to others.
ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago
@elchulobx Just a bit of a footnote... We do not take pride in one of our various tribes of people over the other. When I saw the pyramids near Mexico city I was impressed... but what good is it to be proud of a monument erected by a group of people who enslaved other people (i.e. other tribes) and used them to build monuments from the sweat and blood of others..(cont.)

@MomoHinamori1000 Actually, I must disagree. There is a great deal of history between the 2 countries. 03Terrestre 7 months ago
03Terrestre 7 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf By the way you and I are in good standing, I'm just showing some insight into the Hispanic world, so as to clear up some misunderstandings that many individuals have. The Anglo's desperatly want to keep their supremacy in North America, and their biggest challengers are the Mexicans.

03Terrestre 9 months ago
@03Terrestre Just because they ruled the islands doesn't come come close to meaning they were "one". So the philippines is also one with Morocco, Equatorial Guinea in Africa, etc..? Why not mention them? Because filipinos die to be associated with Spain & Mexico. So they were ruled by Mexico/Madrid, whatever remains as a link is barely negligible... filipinos and the actual Hispanic world have such small ties, and any little thing is magnified by filipinos. Get over it.

ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago

But Mexico has the advantage of having open trade with the U.S., Cuba doesn't, yet Cuba does a great job surviving.
ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago

DonMiguel1810 8 months ago
@DonMiguel1810 You say that Filipinos try to find a link to be Spanish and even make a more absurd claim that they are trying to be Mexican. I'm curios to see the sociological sources that substantiate your idiotic claims. ZootSuitWolf 7 months ago
@ZootSuitWolf Please answer why after the Spaniards were disgraced and driven out of the Philippines, Latin and Spanish Catholic masses were replaced by, yet again, the indigenous language of Tagalog. @03Terrestre Mexico and the Philippines were not "the same country". Mexico City RULED the territories in Asia for the Spanish crown. That is NOT "the same country."

@DonMiguel1810 What the heck is wrong with you? I can sense hatered in you. Spain, Mexico and the Philippines were all one country under the Spanish Empire Duh!
03Terrestre 9 months ago
@03Terrestre Whats the heck is wrong with those filipinos who think they're "Hispanic"...? Thats a better question. Sense whatever you'd like, the countries were never one, only a cheap chain of asian islands ruled by Mexico City & Madrid.

@MomoHinamori1000 ok, who the hell said it was just to this one MAN, i am reffering to many other people. epsecially due to the fact they make fun of my other race
copypacercopypacer 1 year ago
@copypacercopypacer I'm not saying you are, I'm SAYING you should. If people are making fun of your other race, why follow them? Tell me why. Are you really going to their level. How could you as a person bring up the race where they were born on an argument. That's just pathetic. I know that guy is making fun of your race BUT your making it worse by making me mad. Seriously, why would you do that. Your insulting my people who did nothing to you. Now if you do that, it involves us all.
MomoHinamori1000 1 year ago
@MomoHinamori1000 i only said it to defend part of my race K, i mean i don't neccesarily mean all mexicans, i actually only refering to himself.

@SenkanYamatoMaru
I think it's because the Philippines had lost its Hispanic heritage. The Americans were very successful in erasing the Hispanic influence with one of their own through education.
The Mexicans do not feel close cultural kinship with us because we don't even speak Spanish anymore.
Gone were the days when Senators and Congressmen spoke Spanish in their debates.
zulfikarl 1 year ago
@zulfikarl True. The Americans were far more effective in "educating" us in their language than the Spanish were. Plus the American propaganda during their "administration" evilizing the Spanish didn't really help preserve the use of the Spanish language either. My grandfather spoke very fluent Spanish. He was born Oct 1896, 2 months before Rizal was shot. I could still remember him chatting with some of his old friends in the academe in Spanish when I was still a little boy. How I envied them.
