  • hi, i'm a college musician and i was wondering what is the sharp 4 concept?

  • Hello Mr. Beasley, from 1:57 to 2:02 in the video, how exactly did you ascend and descend like that? I heard Grover use it quite a bit.

    -Thanks for your insight

  • Dude has good taste in horns. I believe that's a Keilwerth SX-90 (not sure if its the 90R or not).. Great sax, have always loved the tone of my SX-90! You Rock Walter!

  • yes you are right. The sharp 4 concept even more dramatic using the voice

  • It's just been my experience in that, the more that i listen to cultered saxophone sounds, the more i mimic it, being that the voice is a wind instrument as well. i also believe that technique without the power of Soul behind it, means no passion to persuade the listener/s. Lack of Soul behind one's craft, can make one's craft futile.

  • Mr. Beasley,

Could you put an end to all the speculation concerning the mouthpiece you use? We love your sound and would like to know what your set up is. Thank you, rob...

  • Mr Beasley,

I not only wanted to ask what mouthpiece you use but also have you had anything done to it? or is it stock? We would all love to know. Thank you, rob...

  • I'm following you with my voice. This lesson is good for singers as well, as far as delivery! Thank you soooo much!

  • Thanks man for a peak inside the WORLD of jazz most of us just admire from the outside. You are awesome. You are a teacher. You remind me of a guy named Boots Mussulli. I played alto sax as a young person back in the 60's and actually got to play with a big band at Newport one year because Boots took the time to work with us.

Guys who communicate the art are at the top of the list when it comes time to sing with the choir. Carry on!

  • Tone, tone, tone, and you've got it, got it, got it!

  • Thanks for the info!!! I had a question. What do you need to practice to get to sound like you are singing through the horn...(like Rhea Song)

  • Thanks for the great video - nice playing! I'm trying to figure out how to actually produce the vibrato. I play flute and tenor sax (just learning - 1 year now). I think there are maybe 2 or 3 ways to produce vibrato - using the jaw? the reed? Diaprhragm? Any chance of talking about this.

  • Thanks so much. Just sent you a message

    appreciate the comment
