If you've ever observed a group of 4 and the main mouth piece is totally bad mouthing a 5th person who happens to be best friends with the other 3 you'll totally get the true meaning of the term "Silence of the Lambs." I suppose they just don't deem their friend as worthy of defending. However if you were to insult one of their favorite pop stars, well then Hell hath no furry as you quickly watch their transformation from Lambs to Lions. People just have different priorities I suppose.
No matter who it is, there's always going to be people that insult them with generic insults such as appearence related insults (fat, skinny, ugly, racist remarks, etc.), intelligence related insults (stupid, retard, etc.)...if you know yourself and are comfy in your own skin then dealing with those insults will be much easier...I'm glad to see someone who is not afraid to state their own opinion, while being respectful such as in this vid
