I've got an Amigo 5-speed 4x4 Manual lock hubs, 2.6L, non-diesel, but over 200,xxx miles and still no smoke or rod knock!! Valve tick, but nothing major. Replaced almost everything on the motor, but still stock everything, with 33x12.50R15 Mud terrains. These things are monsters! Rescued LOTS of guys at the off road park from the Club I'm in. Jeep lovers...I wheeled circles around them, haha. Same as the Samurai I was wheeling with. These things are beasts.
I like my rodeo, not saying its better than the mu or amigo, I just like it and it has never let me down off-road. I've even rescued my father-in-law's f150 a few times. lol
fuck yeh i have an mu exactly like this it goes hard, the other day i took it at least 20m in uphill mud, i need diff locks then it will be a sick 4wd
I own an Izuzu Amigo (same as MU with a 2.6l gasoline engine) here in the states. I wish it were easier to find a 2.8l Diesel from a MU to swap out with mine. I've heard many great things about the engine.

@breeder999 in 89 a 3.2 diesel was an option... but the 2.6 low output would pull it just about up a tree and you can't blow those motors if you try... I tried when I replaced the motor and it was still running when i pulled it out.
@Pleb1 haha you reckon you pull out many a toyota and nissan with that? big call on a vid where you need a run up at a rock! good laugh tho! smash ya tail light?

this is a stock MU with 33's.. they are great.. tough as nails, i have pulled out many a toyota and nissan.
IFS is an issue.. but nothing like lockers!!
check out a video camp road, shows how easy it does it.
great on fuel, most parts are easy to get and cheap. so why not?
