  • but does it blend

  • @101UNREALTOURNAMENT

This part will not blend, at least it is not safe.

Do not try this at home.

  • but what does it do if you don't help the wheel to start turning?

  • @korelly

This is not a self starter.

However, there *are* stirling selfstarters, for example:

the "ringbom stirling ltd nr03" from mdevink here on youtube.

  • Very nice work, i have attached a video of mine too. :-)

  • fkng ahole ... what the sht is ths . man i have seen them work ...... how you did it .. if u didnt buy it .. thanks it was very helpfull

  • @malditocagon

    read the fine description -

and please, stick with the Netiquette.

  • ok i wish people would use these for toolslike bench sanders because it would work

  • @limabeanz24 i doubt it would

  • @thedudefromthewoods

    Me too.

But they *were* used for driving smaller kitchen / Household machines like popcorn machines or chamber fountains. Their advantage was that they omitted the risk of explosion that steam engines carried.

  • @thedudefromthewoods it could for finish work like get a flywheel with sand paper on it and get it gouing good

  • @limabeanz24

No, the engine doesn't have enough torque, if any real amount of pressure were applied (for sanding) it would just grind to a halt. You'd be better doing it by hand.

  • @gavinlloydbaker

    You are completely right.

  • me and my brother made one of these once. as an experiment, we left it running for an entire week. all the parts were worn out by the 4th day.

  • @Roflofl129

That is what i would expect - at least great that you managed to avoid overheatage.

The Lamina is the better design for long time test runs because it does not need lubricants.

  • Nice workmanship.

  • @rleete

    Thank you !

  • Well done. I gues thats a well precised STIRLING ENGINE.

And it has a dazzling sophisticated finish. Well done my brother.

  • @angeloscasimiro2

    Thank you !

  • needs more heat

  • @MrBen155

That would mean to switch from brass to steel for the displacer cylinder. Not sure

what it would do to the heat exchange process...

  • awesome...what did you use to make tha parts. I am developing my own stirling engine, but i do not have a lathe :( Thanks in advance

  • @inginerul1987

You really *need* a lathe for that machine. A simplified version of the lamina engine might be build by using a drill press and a set of good philes.

You mihgt also be interested on the wooden compressed air engine here on youtube.

  • i have an idea for an engine. You get a brass tube and place it in your ass, and at the end of the brass tube you have a containment cylinder where flatus is stored.

Threw as series of valves and pyrex tubing there should be a combustion chamber in which the flatus is ignited using an ordinary automobile spark plug connected to a coil of course. The coil then hooked up to a hand held switch. every time one pass's gas one can ignite it. I dont know what the point would be but it would be cool

  • what sort of things have been powered by motors like this?

  • That is absolutely amazing.

  • Sweet engine! Add a genny to it and lets see it perform some work!

  • very well, this genial, i´m doing engine, with a cilinder of glass,

    be will this function?

    I from of colombia country.?

The materials what are? is copper?

  • @anaxagoras23

If you use glas, it needs to be fire resistent.

There are Pyrex test tubes on the market which you should give a try.

To cut the tubes, there are diamond disks available for minidrills,

but cutting fire resistent material may destroy it (surface tension...)

Another -minor- problem is how to mount the glas cylinder to the metal.

    Material is brass and aluminium.

  • it's very fast

can you use it for some thing maybe generator to charge batteries ???

  • @splash128

I have my doubts that it would run long enough to charge batteries.

But yes - the power is sufficient to drive a small generator.

  • Lovely!! 10/10

  • thanks !

  • I see ur webpage, but... is in german X_X dont u have any plans writen/explined in english?

post scrpitumm: ur engine is awesome!!!!

  • @milo616

    thanks !

Manfreds hobbypage belongs to him, not to me - so sorry, i have no english plans. What would you need english plans for ? Is it the inch units you are looking for ? I would say the "language" of a plan does not really matter.

  • <3 engineering!

  • holy shit

if you changed the design so the piston container was below the engine, you could run that on the top of your computer!

and that thing must give quite a few volts

  • @wardino388 how would you know if his computer is overclocked wihtout having a fan overh te cpu too?

  • Yours is a nice and simple design. So far it is my favorite. Like Shea1 I would like the plans.

  • @torqueman6

    Thanks.

    Please see Video Description.

  • beautiful engine , may i ask where you purchased the plans

  • Very nice!

  • how and where did u get the parts

  • I turned them from solid with my small lathe. Aluminium and Brass have been used.

  • flop flop flop flop xD

  • WOW!!

  • WESFS

  • Nice. I like the way you tried to get as much temp. differential with the turned waist on the main cylinder. Does it have a regenerator?

  • Thank you, the waist is in the plans, you are right that its purpose is to decrease thermal flow btwn hot and cold end of the displacer cylinder. Stopping after 5min because of overheating isl a problem of this machine, even with140% cooling surface than what is in the plans.

No, it does not feature a regenerator, it is a very common design of a displacer and a working cylinder linked up by 90° and air flow established from a thin bore in the stand and the baseplate.

  • NICE

  • Hi Orangmakan, mesin itu sangat menarik. Semoga nonton lebih banyak videos masa depan. Bagus sekali!

    -Mike

  • Hi,

Thank you very much, great that you like it. Despite the fact that i am still in the startup phase with machining (no milling machine for example...), i hope that i can provide some more videos in the near future. However, for me it is a winter time hobby so may be there will pass some time until the next project can be presented.

    ---

You might wonder the alias i am using.

Its from one of the favorite books of my childhood - Moby Dick.

    Stefan

  • Hy. Also nicht schlecht muss ich sagen.

Ich baue gerade den STWK1 von Manfred. Ein Video

    wird dann auch eingestellt. Gratulation

    Gut Gebaut.

  • Vielen Dank !

    Viel Glück für dein Projekt.
