Looks like Pebble Mill to me. Fab tune. Love it! Saw them in London quite a few years ago supporting The Wonder Stuff. Met them in the foyer and they said their friends at home don't believe they still have a following. We gave them our tickets to take home to prove it to their friends. Lovely people and just great music.
Great memory of these. I was working 12 hour nights in a factory and had a big old ghetto blaster pumping this and many other late 80's tunes out. Thanks for posting.
@MrSkydog haha thats funny this song reminds me of peeling spuds, i was working in a hotel at the time as a kp and i had to peel a shit load of spuds whilst listning to this album on loop i was only 16 and had alredy landed on me feet. I said nothin and neither did the spuds
Do they still perform today??? Someone said they were Sisters...I am wondering because I sure would like to see them today!!! Great Tune!!! I was 25 in 1988 and somehow I missed this song when it came out....perhaps due to the fact it wasn't a hit here in the States??? I think I would have remembered it. Another Group that was popular that year I never heard of was Propaganda!!!
one of my all-time favorite bands, sadley they never seemed to to be as they should have been here in the states.... I think that the B52's took they're niche'
finally i've found it!!!!!!!! i always thought this was strawberry switchblade (sincere apologies/dont want to offend) radio 2 played their single 'dont call me baby' which i've heard loads of times, and i thought,..... hang on this sounds like ...................fuck me o'rielly!!!!
Great stuff . Saw them live in Glasgow supporting INXS just before they hit the charts , think i was about the only one that had heard of them . Hugely underrated in my book
Here's an odd collaboration...How about this band crossed with the bangles. The harmonies, phonics and differences would mak an amazing compilation. Oh, and also...Screw off Country of Brasil.
It also contains the great lines, "That's why I sometimes stand alone at parties/That's why I drink, so I'll be who they think I am"... which is almost profound in some way!
Brilliant! - Good to see them again. I remember they recorded another version of this song with some naughty words in a couple of lines... quite fun. And what great dress sense the gals had! Thanks for posting this :)
"Pebble Mill at One" wasn't filmed next to a river - and it finished in 1986. This is more likely BBC's 1988/9 summer Saturday morning show "On The Waterfront"
It was a late 80's BBC afternoon show called The Garden Party. Richard Jobson(The Skids) used to have a music section within the show called Jobson's Choice. I always believed it to have been filmed in Scotland. And yes, the drummer is Woody out of Madness.
Thanks for posting these videos! Music was getting so bad by about 1980 that I avoided radios at all costs because I was worried that all the really horrible music was giving me brain damage (or making me insane) so I never heard about these guys until a couple days ago. I like their songs and their videos are fun to watch. They deserved much more fame and fortune than the seem to have gotten. Thanks again!
I remember seeing them at a KROQ concert in LA back in 1989.

They don't make them like that any more :(
I assume this was off some daytime TV show? They changed "I get it every day" to "I see him every day"

I went to see INXS because VOTB were supporting! Damn I miss going round the country seeing them :(
I'm sure this was taken at the Glasgow Garden Festival.
IMO VOTB and Strawberry Switchblade were nothing like each other!

Woody didn't marry one of them, he was already married. Don't think either Tracey or Melissa ever married

They look cool and current 20 years down the road. And the music is better than anything on the radio today. Awesome.

yes he was, wow i love voice of the beehive from the late 80`s they rule nice to hear them again

The drummer was originally in Madness, wasn't he?
The set looks like BBC lunchtime programme Pebble Mill at One or one of its late 80's replacements, by the looks of it.
