It's all a lot lighter than it would have been. The couple of candles scattered around Nampara wouldn't have given out a fraction of the light they are here. I guess people were just used to it. They'd be blinded by our lights now!
They must have burned a lot of candles in those grand houses in those days. Either that, or the halls must have been a lot darker than as portrayed here.

@valarmanwe Candles where expensive, due to tax. But then again a ball is a special occasion so they'd pull out the stops.
