i have to say that alpha cymbals are a decent line for paiste, combining quality with fair prices, however, they really missed the mark in making white and black alphas..i tried both colors& every single cymbal , hi-hats included, sounded like trash can lids ! dying a cymbal will ALWAYS change the sound quality of the cymbal no matter who makes them..just look at zildjian's pitch black line..i don't think i've ever heard any cymbals as awful sounding as those, & I've been playing for 27 yrs !

@Dethbrin Paiste makes really good colored cymbals, although with the death of the Colorsound 5 series you now have to custom order them. The coloring is integrated into the special coating that Paiste puts on every cymbal to protect it, so it has a minimal effect on the sound as compared to using another color treatment layer. Of course, thick opaque coloring like this is going to be more taxing on the sound, but I've heard the Black Alphas and they're nice. These couldn't be much worse.

Colored cymbals. been done over and over. Colorsound 5s, Pitch Blacks, off brands. They always sound the same, like dull crap.
