I think of a friend of mine who died of cancer at a real young age....I will always love her, and know I will see her again one day. I miss you Shannon RIP
So here's wishing for a co-headlining reunion tour in 2012 with The Sundays and Mazzy Star and A.A. Bondy opening! But wishes are just that...a wish. A new Mazzy Lp is said to have been in the works since 2009 and Mr Bondy is always active (check out "Believers") but who knows about Harriet and David...
it would have been better if they had just focused on the band in this video and primarily harriet because shes so fucking good looking. instead they show all these miserable fucks jumping from a platform. i dont get it. good song tho from one of favorite bands
I used to drown in depression when young love didnt work out. Still doesnt always work out, oh well..we have these kind of songs to gaze away with. Would The Sunday get angry if I started a Sundays cover band. I respect singer songwriter relationships, True Love-guitar & vocals!
I'd never seen the video for this before -- don't really like it (as it is with me and most music videos). Just listen to the song without the video. This is still my favorite song from my favorite Sundays album. I'm still bummed that they stopped making music in 1997. Beautiful, and it does have the ability to make me cry if I'm in the right frame of mind. The entire album is a gem.
The videos never really did it for the sundays. This is in my top 10 fav bands, but there videos suck. I think "Can't be sure" was theire best attempt at artistic black and white minimalism, that is sometimes blue and white.
everyyime I hear this song it really makes me feel...I don't know, Happy? Sad?.The reason is that I had a friend named Shannon who die a few monts ago of cancer, She and I were really close, and I loved her very much. Now she's gone, and missing her is easier because of this song.
@reality7777 lets be clear. about this. She definitely sings with an SA accent (why??) regardless of where she was born - I hate those b@st@rd Martians - although I admit I have never been to Mars and was defintely not born there. In fact the point you are making reinforces the potential prejudice. Look at the recent election coverage to see bigiotted people getting air time because they dont like foreigners
This is how rumors get started. Someone says something based in something that isn't reality. Wheeler grew up in Sonning Common, near Reading, Berkshire. If you have information to the contrary, please post it with the reference.
@Westernprovince Not Reading (South East England) as some viewers here believe Could it be deliberately 'put on'. I am tuely apalled! (but not that surprised having seen the BNP on the TV tonight - Again) :-(

Spot on, Brig. She DID have an Afrikaan voice, or an "Oz Backpacker". Was the only thing that bugged me about The Sundays. And it did bug me. Yes, more likely to believe she was from Cape Town than England. Aye.
Hey - I'm a big big fan since the late '80s. Her voice has developed to lose more of that unpopular Afrikaans accent she has when singing. Also I worry now about her earlier songs about kicking a "boy" till "it" cried - a common SA term for the indigeonous population under Apartheid.......
Yeah Bhoy...i agree..I love her~! Yet so many made songs Like that..with Titles, that are inappropieate tin todays world..(especially the word boy or girl titles mean something else today..oh well, not to worry bout it~! Stay loose, happy new year~!
never heard this song... I have a floppy record they sent me called "Rupert the Bear" or maybe "Rupert the Dog" can't remember - doesn't matter, I can't play it unless I can copy it professionally the same time... cause after the first play, it's ruined.

So much music in my life, and for some reason I can never seem to get bored of The Sundays. I have slots in my CD changers for them at all times. I have no idea why. Acid rock to Bluegrass, and it's The Sundays I can count on. They pick me up like music should.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I've never seen this before and I've been a fan of the Sundays since their first album back in my college days.
happy to be from this era, Dishwalla, Mazzy Star Cathrine's Wheel the only band left The Cure the worst of it all there bringing back 90210, Melrose Place and by next year Party of 5
This band get you through the bad days when your relationship is going through a tough time, im now single and I feel a lot better when I hear these because other people have gone through the same as me
Now I'm stading on a platform, now I'm staring from a train. And all the trees roll back beside me Im so oblivious to the light, to the dark.. it's all the same. You gave me so much.. and now it's of the earth.. and it makes me cry.
I remember sitting on the grass listening to my mp3 player and watching the one who felt so important to me in the past walk away. He had moved on and when they came up to me at that one time, from the 4 months we hadn't talked... It was painful to say a word. I averted my gaze elsewhere, wanting them to go away as they had already moved on, while I hadn't.
When they walked away, I couldn't believe how stupid I was. This song came on straight after that event and has stuck to me ever since...
Been there, too. I guess, who hasn't? But some deal better than I. That's when I play "Goodbye" from the Sundays' second album, Blind...."I vow it's goodbye and God bless...." (and I mean it this time!)
Was talking to a pretty hardcore rock fan this week . We hadn't seen one another for 12 months. The conversation progressed to 2 What are you listening to these days? The Sundays I replied, not expecting him to have heard of them. He mentioned Cry straight away and reeled off a load of other songs to my amazment. He said that he wouldn't admit to liking this group in certain circles, but had a big impact on him. Strange how The Sundays have enriched many people from all musical backgrounds.
you gave me so much and now it's of the earth and it makes me cry (it makes me cry, it makes me cry) and it can make me cry you're with me so much though you're never with me anymore and it makes me cry (it makes me cry, it makes me cry) it can make me cry (oh it makes me cry, it makes me cry) (yeah it makes me cry, it can make me cry)
I like you Cozenimus. I like your mission statement, I like your videos, and I like your name. It reminds me a lot of mine. I am wondering where it comes from? Mine is the word "emenius" backwards and forwards. Suinemenius.
This is quality music, who would not like it?...I think a lot of people just haven't heard about them that's all. I've listen to rock, metal, rap, etc and they all went away, but this music will stay with me for a long long time.
It's positively horrible contemplating the rest of my days without another Sundays recording. The three albums I own are easily in my favorites of all time- Ms. Wheeler and Mr. Gavurin are to ears what single malt is to the palate.
I like to think that Ms. Wheeler doesn't sing anymore because she is finally happy. It's kind of a nice thought, though the idea of her not sharing her voice with the rest of world is heartbreaking. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.

Siren, it happened to me.
I was at the concert in the Melkweg Amsterdam in the year 1990.
And then it happened to me, since then my soul belongs to her, angel, goddess.
Her voice puts a spell on you she makes you want to jump from joy and cry
at the same time. Only the guitar play of David is just good enough to a company her.
Normally I am quit a rational person, but no so when Harriet sings.
The Greek myth is true, whats a men to do.
