  • I think of a friend of mine who died of cancer at a real young age....I will always love her, and know I will see her again one day. I miss you Shannon RIP

  • So here's wishing for a co-headlining reunion tour in 2012 with The Sundays and Mazzy Star and A.A. Bondy opening! But wishes are just that...a wish. A new Mazzy Lp is said to have been in the works since 2009 and Mr Bondy is always active (check out "Believers") but who knows about Harriet and David...

We need them though they may not know it...

  • Please get back together and more music, Sundays... pretty please?

  • Love, love, love this song. Sometimes it does literally make me cry.

  • Beautiful song from a masterpiece of an album. Really takes me back, just beautiful.

  • Saw The Sundays in Pontiac MI about 15 years ago..... enchanting....

  • One Of my mOst favs The sundays

  • stunning!

  • it would have been better if they had just focused on the band in this video and primarily harriet because shes so fucking good looking. instead they show all these miserable fucks jumping from a platform. i dont get it. good song tho from one of favorite bands

  • @airmedi27 Something tells me there are a lot of things that you don't "get". :-)

  • @Nigelxman tell me then what dont i get

  • i heart you harriet!

  • there are no words, i love this song so much !

  • I used to drown in depression when young love didnt work out. Still doesnt always work out, oh well..we have these kind of songs to gaze away with. Would The Sunday get angry if I started a Sundays cover band. I respect singer songwriter relationships, True Love-guitar & vocals!

  • Her voice is so lovely it makes me cry while I smile :)

  • I've seen them live in 1997. Amazing.

  • @JediGTI You lucky bastard!!! : )

  • @JediGTI gahhhh you didn't carry your 9lb video cassette camcorder? :P if only eh mate? they really need to get back, they're worth paying for!

  • I'd never seen the video for this before -- don't really like it (as it is with me and most music videos). Just listen to the song without the video. This is still my favorite song from my favorite Sundays album. I'm still bummed that they stopped making music in 1997. Beautiful, and it does have the ability to make me cry if I'm in the right frame of mind. The entire album is a gem.

  • @JustAFocus i love all there albums there music has helped me through some rough times!

  • thumbs up if u love Harriet

  • Harriet ....the female answer 2 Ian McCulloch

  • @MrBazzabee HEY LETS HAVE A PROP #1-GET RID OF MATERIALISTIC FUCKING ADDS!! WTF!!

  • English accents all sound the same except for American English speakers.

  • I love the Sundays!

  • Beautiful :)

  • The videos never really did it for the sundays. This is in my top 10 fav bands, but there videos suck. I think "Can't be sure" was theire best attempt at artistic black and white minimalism, that is sometimes blue and white.

  • everyyime I hear this song it really makes me feel...I don't know, Happy? Sad?.The reason is that I had a friend named Shannon who die a few monts ago of cancer, She and I were really close, and I loved her very much. Now she's gone, and missing her is easier because of this song.

  • Is this song about suicide? All these people jumping into the darkness. But some of them are smiling, so I'm not sure....

  • @ytcarol no!

  • i so LOVE her voice, it's so unique and soothing. I could listen to her all day long and never get tired of that awesome voice of hers. :)

  • And she was born in Maidenhead, England.

  • @reality7777 lets be clear. about this. She definitely sings with an SA accent (why??) regardless of where she was born - I hate those b@st@rd Martians - although I admit I have never been to Mars and was defintely not born there. In fact the point you are making reinforces the potential prejudice. Look at the recent election coverage to see bigiotted people getting air time because they dont like foreigners

  • @TheBrigBhoy I don't understand what point you are trying to make. She is not from South Africa.

  • This is how rumors get started. Someone says something based in something that isn't reality. Wheeler grew up in Sonning Common, near Reading, Berkshire. If you have information to the contrary, please post it with the reference.

  • Her voice always sounded west country, UK to me, rather than the Free State.

  • @Westernprovince Not Reading (South East England) as some viewers here believe Could it be deliberately 'put on'. I am tuely apalled! (but not that surprised having seen the BNP on the TV tonight - Again) :-(

  • Harriet wheeler is an AFRIKAANER????

  • Hey - I'm a big big fan since the late '80s. Her voice has developed to lose more of that unpopular Afrikaans accent she has when singing. Also I worry now about her earlier songs about kicking a "boy" till "it" cried - a common SA term for the indigeonous population under Apartheid.......

  • Yeah Bhoy...i agree..I love her~! Yet so many made songs Like that..with Titles, that are inappropieate tin todays world..(especially the word boy or girl titles mean something else today..oh well, not to worry bout it~! Stay loose, happy new year~!

  • "I Kissed a Girl" to name one.

  • never heard this song... I have a floppy record they sent me called "Rupert the Bear" or maybe "Rupert the Dog" can't remember - doesn't matter, I can't play it unless I can copy it professionally the same time... cause after the first play, it's ruined.

  • un frenchi aussi fan de cette voix venue céleste , de ces mélodies simples et efficaces, ces rythmes qui vous bercent et vous captivent sans vraiment savoir pourquoi ! bizz à tous

  • Siren, it happened to me.

I was at the concert in the Melkweg Amsterdam in the year 1990.

And then it happened to me, since then my soul belongs to her, angel, goddess.

Her voice puts a spell on you she makes you want to jump from joy and cry

at the same time. Only the guitar play of David is just good enough to a company her.

Normally I am quit a rational person, but no so when Harriet sings.

The Greek myth is true, whats a men to do.

  • Not a myth. Yes, a Siren indeed. I do know how you feel. I truely do.

  • So much music in my life, and for some reason I can never seem to get bored of The Sundays. I have slots in my CD changers for them at all times. I have no idea why. Acid rock to Bluegrass, and it's The Sundays I can count on. They pick me up like music should.

  • she always does her hair in that updo heh?

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I've never seen this before and I've been a fan of the Sundays since their first album back in my college days.

  • the best song of this band

  • Their Static and Silence Album is my all time fave! Listen to one song and you'll never stop until the end.

  • happy to be from this era, Dishwalla, Mazzy Star Cathrine's Wheel the only band left The Cure the worst of it all there bringing back 90210, Melrose Place and by next year Party of 5

  • Simpy beautiful, but brings a a tear to my eye, why can't they make a realy happy song?

  • Try Summertime!

  • "Summertime" is a happy song.

"Here's where the story end" is kinda upbeat also...but the lyrics, Im nor sure.

  • eventhough their songs are a bit sad, it kinda makes you feel happy listening to them. =)

  • cmmenti in inglese no lo capisco

la musica può andare anche se il testo

    per mè incomprenibile

  • This song has literally made me cry before.

  • Kinda has an 80's sound....

  • david gavurin is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.

  • @opprime1 he is very good. he has that johnny marr vibe to his playing.

  • Comment removed

  • Unpretentious lyrics, her great voice and just the right instrumentals is what makes this group so appealing. And oh yeah-she is very beautiful!

  • Comment removed

  • Okay, I'm jealous now. :(

  • really then ask her if she will ever perform with the sundays again Please!!!!!!!

  • Ask her to go back into singing. I don't do concerts but I would make every effort to do that one.

  • Nice guitar riff!!!!!

  • This band get you through the bad days when your relationship is going through a tough time, im now single and I feel a lot better when I hear these because other people have gone through the same as me

  • David = Fave Guitarist Ever

    Harriet = Angelic Voice

    David + Harriet = MAGIC!

  • @chazwinski hopefully their children will also come up with a pop group as well :) but it won't be as good

but yes, he is also my favourite, I like to emulate his swaying when I play my bass :D

  • Now I'm stading on a platform, now I'm staring from a train. And all the trees roll back beside me Im so oblivious to the light, to the dark.. it's all the same. You gave me so much.. and now it's of the earth.. and it makes me cry.

  • It's pop music.

  • Beautiful!

  • I remember sitting on the grass listening to my mp3 player and watching the one who felt so important to me in the past walk away. He had moved on and when they came up to me at that one time, from the 4 months we hadn't talked... It was painful to say a word. I averted my gaze elsewhere, wanting them to go away as they had already moved on, while I hadn't.

When they walked away, I couldn't believe how stupid I was. This song came on straight after that event and has stuck to me ever since...

  • Been there, too. I guess, who hasn't? But some deal better than I. That's when I play "Goodbye" from the Sundays' second album, Blind...."I vow it's goodbye and God bless...." (and I mean it this time!)

    Bob in Philadelphia

  • Static & Silence = Sundays best album by far IMO......I miss them!

  • whatever happened to this lot?

summertime was a great song aswell

  • mm...pop.folk indie describes it nicely. HW was very influential to that new stream of female led melancholy indie bands (look at Dolores or Nina P)

  • Things you said, in my head everyday.....

  • 1997

  • My wife looks like Harriet Wheeler.

  • Lucky bastard....

  • Couldn't agree with you more. Good music is good music. Pity they vanished in 1997.

  • what is there to admit??

Good music, no matter the band, always stands out

  • Was talking to a pretty hardcore rock fan this week . We hadn't seen one another for 12 months. The conversation progressed to 2 What are you listening to these days? The Sundays I replied, not expecting him to have heard of them. He mentioned Cry straight away and reeled off a load of other songs to my amazment. He said that he wouldn't admit to liking this group in certain circles, but had a big impact on him. Strange how The Sundays have enriched many people from all musical backgrounds.

  • This song has only been viewed 2700 times?! That's rediculous.

  • true...but what's really ridiculous is your spelling! lol

  • it blows my mind how much great music has gone un-heard.

  • you gave me so much and now it's of the earth and it makes me cry (it makes me cry, it makes me cry) and it can make me cry you're with me so much though you're never with me anymore and it makes me cry (it makes me cry, it makes me cry) it can make me cry (oh it makes me cry, it makes me cry) (yeah it makes me cry, it can make me cry)
  • I like you Cozenimus. I like your mission statement, I like your videos, and I like your name. It reminds me a lot of mine. I am wondering where it comes from? Mine is the word "emenius" backwards and forwards. Suinemenius.

  • This is quality music, who would not like it?...I think a lot of people just haven't heard about them that's all. I've listen to rock, metal, rap, etc and they all went away, but this music will stay with me for a long long time.

  • this is really cool, thanks for posting, sometimes i feel like i am the only one who gets this band.......

  • Read some of the other comments on this and other SUNDAYS videos. There are many, many of us out there.

  • Yep, I hope they come out of their hiatus sometime soon. Nice vid - thanks

  • A silken ribbon tickling my ears, caressing my brain as a shimmering guitar washers over, melting the melody into my mind.

  • It's positively horrible contemplating the rest of my days without another Sundays recording. The three albums I own are easily in my favorites of all time- Ms. Wheeler and Mr. Gavurin are to ears what single malt is to the palate.

  • You're not alone, my friend.

  • I like to think that Ms. Wheeler doesn't sing anymore because she is finally happy. It's kind of a nice thought, though the idea of her not sharing her voice with the rest of world is heartbreaking. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.

  • That's a nice thought - well put. Has she really stopped singing altopgether ?

  • You dont think the sisters got hold of her do you? At least she's in Mexico now. With Red.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for putting this on here...! Brilliant band.

  • Thanks for posting this video.
