To big of a conflict of interest. Unions are some of the largest contributors to the elected officials that are supposed to be representing all of their constituents, not just the contributing ones. Teachers are compensated well above the average worker especially after factoring all the benefits and pensions. Unions ruined GM, and they will ruin education if the government ever stops throwing money at the "problem."

Immediately terminate absent teachers found lying about being sick. Bring in qualified substitutes or request volunteers from the HONEST teachers on staff to take in extra students. Substantially reward those honest teachers with extra pay and bonuses. Before Sept 2011, hire new teachers. END OF LESSON.
