Let it be said that everyone does not need to go on a solo adventure with little money into the wilderness, but we MUST learn from what his journey has to teach. Focus not on THINGS, but on the relationship with yourself and with others. Those are the only things that matter.
Couldn't agree more. This music, like the whole story it relates to, is pure poetry which makes it all the more poignant. Of course we can't, and shouldn't all go trekking off to Alaska to try and escape the problems we have inside, but the story is however incredibly touching and many of us, I know, can relate to it and feel profoundly moved.
I will be travelling soon through Europe, on foot and without money also, my past is a huge difference with mccandless but i think the same about society.

@Brenten12 you really dont get it ;) and he said that just before he died,if he made it he would have thought differently.It is not society?For many people it is,and the "good" people are hardly to be found most of the time.3 types of people in my book,the shit people,the people saying they are good but when it comes to it hide and the actually good people.There are more of the first 2 then the last one.Almost everyone have a moment in their live that they want to go.Just go and come back ;)

@Brenten12 many times to find peace in this bad life, it is good to go away from all, when you try to do good things in society you will fall down, so if you are yourself in this society you won't resist man, the solution is to travel, change everytime, and doing experience For example when you feel happy, after a few days you will feel alone again, unable to RESIST in this fuckin society ! and for sure.. leaving something into people you meet and you know.

I have lived quite a time with the idea of living in pure nature. Now, what I have understood, that to most of us, who live in a warm hands of society this task of leaving is nothing more than a long path between home and death, and usualy there is no way back. Then you sit by your computer it feels you can do everything, but when you try - you see how you are scared of death.

referring to the movie, Anyone who says this man was a fool and starved to death...Needs to realise that this man escaped the limits of society, he lived life, he took risks and he achieved so much more than most people do, he found himself and along the way beat many challenges and obstacles. If all of us could take a step back and see society for what it really is, I think we'd shocked...

@Hybridsniper2807 He was not brave. He was fool hardy and made some very basic mistakes. Remember, this was a movie based on a true story. A movie. Just a 1/4 up river were he tried to cross and get out. A trolly across the river. Less than 7 miles south of the bus is a ranger cabin stocked with supplies. He was a dumbass for not taking a map.
