@blackarawak83  By your logic there is not a recorded piece of music that would be “ appropriate”...Lux Aeterna (the second piece of music) is hardly authentic either but then the footage is from a 21st century TV Production !!! It is not intended as a historically accurate portrayal of day to day life in ” Pagan Rome” its a tribute to a show I enjoyed.... nothing more. Pretentious comments on mere light entertainment are a sign of an unoccupied mind.....In my opinion

This show has done a great job of showing the gritty side of Rome (the slums, class struggle, civil wars, and corruption). They portrayed the chaotic Rome that is rarely seen in the media. There's a lot of emphasis on the snobbish attitude of the aristocrats towards the plebs.
