Well thank God they didn't use the same character names. But why use the same title? Didn't you see the very end of this preview with the fly and the chopsticks? That's obviously a reference to the original... I just hope it's as FAR away from the original movie as possible... and if that's the case, it should have a different title.
If the characters are different, and the story is different, then basically what they're doing is piggypacking on the original movie in order to make money using the same title. Which I believe is called "rebooting" nowadays.... who-freakin'-knows.... all I know is it has to stop. Why make a remake of the Karate Kid if they don't practice the martial art which is in the godam title, they are clearly doing Kung Fu martial art, Karate being Japanese. So maybe 'The Kung Fu Kid' would be technically correct. But hey its Hollywood after all.....

Well thank God they didn't use the same character names. But why use the same title? Didn't you see the very end of this preview with the fly and the chopsticks? That's obviously a reference to the original... I just hope it's as FAR away from the original movie as possible... and if that's the case, it should have a different title.

If the characters are different, and the story is different, then basically what they're doing is piggypacking on the original movie in order to make money using the same title. Which I believe is called "rebooting" nowadays.... who-freakin'-knows.... all I know is it has to stop. Hollywood should lift up its skirt, and reveal to us that they have the balls to come up with something original, without using a different movie as a safety net... lol... but that's just me.... :-)

the older version..Mr. Miyagi was from Okinawa and in part two went back..some movie critics will say it too much a stretch going to China.However this movie will have a market..as a Movie for the kids of the parents who saw the original..
Like the New Start trek..just not as cool.

Um... No, this movie does NOT have a market for people who grew up with the original. In fact, it is an insult to them. This movie looks to be targeted to kids now, not people who were kids in the 80s. And most remakes NEVER live up to the original. Star Trek might be an exception, though I still don't like that the remade it with a new cast. All these remakes need to stop. What's next? Remaking The Godfather?
