Remember that the guy called the house a "dump". So while the house is nice, it could have had all sorts of issues, like filthy, bad wiring, plumbing issues, and look at the neighborhood it's in. That neighborhood is a working class neighborhood. A beautiful house can be brought down several thousand simply because of it's location. When people buy a beautiful house, they want beautiful privileges, like not having neighbors that close.
