Get a Dallas rangemaster treble booster or rangemaster copy and you'll be amazed at the tones you can get with this setup. Was commonly used in the old days by the likes of Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Brian May among others.
I bought one of these a couple of years back - packed up twice shortly afterwards due to valve failures. Pleased with the amp since but I would advise anyone buying a BB reissue to replace the crap Marshall valves with some decent alternatives.
It's a shame the camera microphone is bad! We don't really get a sense of what it really sounds like!.. but then again.. you can only get that playing it yourself in a live situation! ;)
@rolodexroulette I sold his amp to Get a Twin Reverb. Personally I think Fender made better amps.. Twin Reverb is best amp in world, its clean but It can break up.. it will be mega loud when it is braking up, the BluesBreaker I had was 30w Twin will be 80. its up to you? They are both heavy amps...both amps change the sound of popular music!!
I want an amp that has the littlest fuzz to it but easily cleaned up incase i want to play something with more of a ballad to it .
I was saving for a Fender '59 Bassman, but ive seen one of these on sale locally 3rd hand for £750 including flightcase (which i'd obviously barter down to atleast £700).
I play a Fender telecaster and a Gretsch. I use a pedal board, and im in an Alternative/Rock band. You could almost say like The black keys ish, but not bluesy.
Great playing man! You sound just like Clapton! :D Dude what kind of pickups do you have in that Les Paul, that looks like clapton's beano Les Paul. Thanks for your time -Chals444
@dirtyTony666 changed the Gz34 and ecc83s to some Mullards and GEC KT66 and few caps changed etc, I dont know ALL the details as my amp mate did it for me, although I sold the amp years ago to a friend its stll around so I may borrow it again and do some stuff
While, in all honesty, you might not be the best player ever to be on Utube, it doesn't matter as that is a really useful demo showing me all I need to know about the amp and making a really positive impression. good stuff.
Although it is not the only way, a good vibrato comes from moving the wrist. The finger muscles don't actually do much. To get a feel for the kind of muscle action, grab a door handle with your left hand with your palm up and turn the handle back and forth. The vibrato motion is kind of like this. When you turn a door handle, you use your thumb to grasp along with your fingers, it gives you more strength. You get strength in our vibrato by hooking your thumb over the top of the neck.
vibrato... i did what leslie west said to do " bend slow and hold it to the tone your after.. then release slow.. .. over and over .. after week my vibrato changed alot for the better.. great sounding amp man!!! to bad you sold it
@JoshuaKarno Well the truth is.. I wanted a Twin Reverb.. I think think thye are wonderful amps! I sold the BluesBreaker to my mate at its been sat in his front room getting very little use for last few years..I think I wil ask him if I can borrow it back and rock it out again!
Why the hell would Marshall not put stock KT66s in the amp? It's not really a reissue with 5881 output valves. Did Clapton have 5881s in his Bluesbreaker? I don't think so.
It LOOKS a bit out of control but I like where you're going with your vibrato.....much prefer it to the wide slow 'opera singer' job that most people nowadays seem to favour.
i play through an original 62 bluevreaker updated from 2x15 cellesions to 2x 25 green celestion giving the amp more punch.. they are easily the best on the parket for around the £1300 mark my real 62 cost me alot more.. ive toured all over thworld withmine and man it can take a beating in my book they are still better than any cornells if you have them re hand wired by thr guys at marshal
Hello! i have this buzz sound under my pickups, and im not so experienced with guitars, so i just want to be sure that it's save to remove them quick just to have a look underneath.
ah ok, its an acoustic problem then, it'll be in ur bridge i reckon, something resonating too much, tbh thats gonna be hard to sort out man, if its not too much of a prob;em when u plug in then i'd leave it
anybody know if with a good distortion pedal(something like a boss) you can get a sound similar to guns n roses and classic and hard rock kinda stuff, some times with pinched harmonics too?
why in the hell you'd want to turn this beautiful Blues machine into a noise maker boy? if you want Slash sound take a look into Marshall Jubilee, JCM800 or even a Vint Modern series brother. NO WAY IN HELL a Bluesbreaker.
Try Marshall Guvnor. Especially the old black made in england version. It is discontinued but you can still track them down. It is a great match with a JTM 45 and goes from mild blues overdrive, via SRV to GNR and hard rock tones. Deco is right about this amp being a blues machine, but its more than that. It is very responsive and goes where you take it (except maybe metal). And I dont agree that Slash is a noise maker. Regardless of personal tastes, his tones are very articulate.
I enjoyed the demo! I also am grateful that you didn't begin your demo by bending notes on the G string up on the 18th fret with the amp's vol. on 8, like so many! LOL
That amp sounds very good. It's a legend to tell the truth. It's a shame it's very too expensive to me. I'd like to know if anybody compared it to the vintage modern serie and if these sound close to each other ?
and what about claptons period with john mayall then?;) The bluesbreaker gots it's name from eric clapton who was using these amps while he played with john mayall and the bluesbreakers. That was BEFORE he uses stacks. It's quite the same amp though!
Not sure if you know, but compared to a Deville 212, how loud is this beast. I can barely get the Deville past 1 and a half in a large open space and I can't really put up with it any more.
does having two speakers make this amp even louder, as to say compared to an ac30 with same watts and one speaker? thanks man, i have this ridiculously loud 50 watt amp and i really wish i had a quieter amp, even with no one home sometimes the max i can turn it up to is like 2. I hope to get a fender deluxe reverb because its only got 22 watts, not as loud, but not too quiet
you should look into something like 5 watts. thats what i have and its way too loud for the house. At a gig i couldnt even crank it. Also, look into power attenuators. they make amps quieter. i might get one for my 5 watt
lol wow. What five watt do you have? im looking for something a bit over fifteen watts, i played a freinds blues junior and it wasnt too loud and for a gig id like something just, a little bit louder than that, even though i could always mic it. and thanks, i looked up power attenuators and they seem like a really good idea.
LOL! I bought a bass amp and I had the SAME problem. I got a high-watt amp because I thought it would be cool to have something so loud, but it is absolutely impractical. Like you, I have to keep the amp under two or else my neighbors will complain. There's a good lesson here!!!
lol wow, i guess we were a couple of dummies, at least i dont feel left out now! now i cant play it too loud, and it wont sound good unless its turned up... Im never buying any amp over 30 watts for a long time or anything really loud, and if i do need a loud amp its probably easier to mic a low watt one or something. I cant wait to get rid of my ridiculously loud amp!
For most applications 20 watts is plenty. Unless you're gigging good size venues often anything over 20 is just way too loud. Heck, even if you are gigging alot they mic you anyways so.....I'm plenty happy with my AC15 :)
yeah thats true. i got a roland cube 30 though, but only because the cube 20 and 15 dont offer all the features the 30 does, and i didnt want a micro cube cause it doesnt hold up with band practice. hows the ac15? people keep telling me the 30 is better but i really cant hear a difference.
An AC30 is gonna sound fuller and give you mroe headroom. The only thing is those things are LOUD. WAY loud. So, I dunno. I'm happy with my AC15 but would like an AC30 at some point, to be sure. The extra tubes and a 2x12 make a big difference.
Can you achieve a good tone at bedroom level with this amp (straight plugged in)?
I know its made for the stage and for recordings i would use my isocab but i'd liked to know if i could use this amp also for practicing without disturbing the neighbours ;-)
deffinately, plus no body needs that loud of an amp, most bars we gig at will not let us play if we bring a half stack, i just stick to the good ol' ac30

question
when playing gigs, do you bring your own amps?
fable59 2 years ago
Of course.. thats what its all about! Valve amps were made to rock out loud and the whole point is to gig! I have used every amp in my vids at gigs.

back the treble off a bit. everything else is good to go.

deffinately, plus no body needs that loud of an amp, most bars we gig at will not let us play if we bring a half stack, i just stick to the good ol' ac30
treatb09 2 years ago
i got told my ac30 was too loud :(

The sound and tone you can get from those 30 watt amps is just amazing.
It just goes to show you, that bigger is not always better, I would take a small 15 watt tube amp over a 100 watt solid state any day.
Is that a 59 Les Paul I see? If not, its a sharp looking modern day one, because today's modern Les Paul standards blow.
Great playing.

These amps sound very crunchy old school metal Marshall once they're cranked and have a nice OD infront of them with the right EQ, good little amps.

I really wonder if a new Marshall Vintage Modern wouldn't do the job as well for less money ?
jp6l6 2 years ago
Well, it's not going to sound like this, but the Vintage Modern sounds good for its own thing.
