We have a 1-yr old black cat named Alexander. When we walked into the room at the shelter with all the black cats, I felt so sorry for them, thinking that no one probably wanted them. Little did I know that we were about to fall in love with Alexander in that room. He's so smart. He even fetches.

I have a soft spot for black dogs, it's such a shame that people overlook them! I was owned by a black/silver/seal Scottish Terrier for ten years and now own a black Rat Terrier/maybe Lab/something mix who I adopted in his honour. She is a fantastic dog! She looks very much like the pups at 1:33.

Yes, God Bless you for bringing this to our attention! I adopted an OLDER black dog...and I want other's to give also give OLDER pets a home! They are the best...already trained and ready to give LOVE!

It is so sad to think that some pets are euthanized just because they aren't "seen" in those critical moments when someone is walking by or scrolling through a webpage. They have so much love to give! Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing it.

As someone who has always loved black dogs and cats, I was amazed to learn the sad statistics on them. Knowing how unlikely it is that they will be adopted, some shelters euthanize black cats as soon as they get them. It is truly heartbreaking as these animals are every bit as loving and deserving as their "bright" brothers and sisters. If you are considering adopting a pet, please give a second look to a black one. You'll be glad you did!
