  • Wow!

  • Don't forget that Yoko One first made the statement and John and she wrote the song together.

She never gets the credit she deserves.

  • Love it and yes the people who are just looking to troll or fight about something are going to take this and blow it into something it isn't. Use your head and think hard for a minute on the BRIGHT SIDE instead of "OMG SHE SAID A BAD WORD" or negative junk. She's making a good damn point.

  • She reminds me of Peggy Lee

  • This music wouldn't be playable on any radio format really. Except like college or underground.

  • Just goes to show you how incredibly dumb the masses are. This genius of a woman is relatively unknown, even though her music is some of the greatest music in the last decade. Yet someone as talentless as beiber or perry gets all the money.

  • 2 people want to be in the in crowd.

  • is she racist cuz my sister assumes she is cuz she says nigger

  • @Timmygogrr She isn't a racist. The use of the n word is a reference to a song by John Lennon called "Woman is the Nigger of the world". (He wasn't a racist either.) Google the lyrics of that song and you'll understand what it means.

  • what is this song about cuz my dumb ass sister is saying shes racist cuz the line "the woman is the nigger of the world"

  • why wont it playyy?

  • These lyrics are so spot on! Man she should be famous!

  • @jakiner Her music is too smart for the masses. Let the knowing few enjoy her.

  • Love it but it does rip off John Lennon's line, Woman is the Nigger of the World.

  • @GloriaWa

That's not a "rip off", it's a reference or an homage. It wasn't intended to be thought of as an original line.

  • Just discovered this! Absolutely great -- and Blossom too!

  • This is really a prophetic song. It really will get worse. More wars. More fascism.

  • Wow. Love Blossom Dearie and a few songs by Nellie so this was a great find... also, I have to give props for the spot-on vocal impression haha.

  • this made cat fart

  • lol does it look like that Nellie can pass for a Broad way star? Hehe, her hair looks lilke Maryln Monroe!

Cool song by the way! :)

  • Story of my life ;)

I'm glad I'm not in the in crowd!

  • I can hear her saliva.

    Thats not a problem though...

  • oh, love the lyrics!

  • lol lol lol

  • wow. i bet this will sound better on the album.

  • She don't give a damn about a Grammy. Blossom Dearies "I'm Hip" is my new favorite song though this and The Streets "Trust Me" are close contenders for song of the year.

  • You have to love an artist who takes risks, and goes to the taboo areas, ...good stuff. I think this chick is sharp as a tack, i fear she will have a lot of moronic criticism for her choice of words, but she is so above it all. I love you Nellie!!

  • to move .... bilie holiday

  • she is only a genous!!!

  • I find this a bit disturbing, but I can appreciate the sentiment. It's nice to hear some fresh Nellie. ;)

  • Thanks a lot for posting this, I love Nellie so much. She is the only true old school throwback singer songwriter around!

Check out my channel, and the Nellie Mckay stuff there.

  • I think Nellie is one of the very few artists around who are truly unique in that there isn't really anybody else who does what she does - and there's no good description or explanation that does her work justice. I think she probably likes Phil Ochs too. (RIP)

  • I agree completely! Thanks for posting this

  • we have somewhere to go

  • I think this is an awesome song. Anyone know if this is a cover?

  • The description says it's an original.
