It looks female...

They become adult or sexually active at age two, and if you iggy turns a bit orange during the winter, and becomes a bit aggressive, then it's a male. The root of the tale will also become more thick if it's a male.

But I think it's a female, so you have to read about how she can lay her eggs... IF IT'S A FEMALE... cant say for sure. But it's my guess.

@EZAFINSANE most green iguanas are females here were i live there is two spreate names for the male and female iguanas females are iguanas and males are garobos and they are mostly black and grey or som time a light brown but if your iguana has every tried to bit you like opening its mouth when you flick it on the nose it means its a male but if not its a female thats pretty much it on how to ttell if there male or female

that's what I do. I read up on an animal for about 2-3 months before getting them. I have 2 Tokay Geckos, 2 Bearded Dragons, a Leopard gecko, a Parakeet, 3 cats, a dog, and 2 fish tanks. There is a lot of work to go into them daily but I am still going to get an Iguana, and a Brazilian Rainbow Boa.

It's because you have a female, they don't get orange, only males do that :)

And yes, it's natural for them to turn orange when they become sexullaly active and go into mating. They do that when they are about 2 yrs old.

Oh iguanas are very cheep to buy, but expencive to keep.

You need a lot of things, like tank, light, warmlamps and so on.

They need propper care or they get ill and die.

Tame, not at all!!

He never will be, you can't get an iguana tame, BUT he is very trusting. I have no problems with him at all ;-)

He is a great iguana, and I'm very lucky to have him :-)

It was almost magical the way he bowed to my finger...but like i said i wigged out and grabbed him like he was trying to jump out of my ashtray again or something then he escaped and ive never had another iguana since. He was a true learning experience and with Kreature cuts still fresh on my wrists it was almost unbearable to think I had broken his trust like that and now these cuts were all i had left...he was a survivor too...shit a rubberband one day like it was nothin.

remember that they're lizards, not furry animals that love attention.

Often if they've been living only by themselves without any human contact in their life, they can be very mean since they aren't used to human contact. However, you may be able to train it by giving it some really good food with your hand or even touching it just a bit while it eats the treat... This may be one way to train it. Bananas work fine, but it will get sick if you give it too much bananas.

actually some lizards do like attention like savannah moniters. iguanas in general dont make good pets. there is little you can do about breeding season aggression and that sometimes lasts for months. most iguanas dont like being touched at all. if you want a pet that you can only look at, then fine. but if you want a big lizard that is easy to 'potty' train, likes being held, and can be tame and sweet, then you would want a savannah moniter.
