Yo guys the only reasons that people can still stand after being shot many times is (as cte83 stated) if they are on narcotics or if they get lucky and the bullets dont destroy and vital organs. But usually bullets knock people down, especially hollowpoint bullets, and usually police use special prohibited hollowpoint bullets (much more leathal hollowpoint) which should take down a person on one shot.

The guy was armed, running towards a vehicle occupied by a civilian, and turned and pointed his handgun at the officer. Officer involved shootings don't get any cleaner than this.

Have you ever shot someone? Bullets aren't magic instruments that put people down. Some people are not impressed by being shot once. You shoot to end the threat, whether it takes 1 bullet or 12. I've seen a guy who was shot 6 times in the abdomen who was still walking around.

It depends on a lot of factors, such as caliber / type of bullet (hollowpoint, etc), the suspect's state of mind (i.e. adrenaline, drugs, etc).

Ya but Police have to make sure he is down so they will shoot a few times to be sure. here in Saskatoon Canada (back in the 80s)a cop was shot with a .45 through a door (back when my city didnt have bulletproof vsts and had .38s. 2 rds were lodged in his chest but managed to chase the suspect where the suspect was shot down by numerous officers. It ws reported that over 18 rds hit the suspect dead on but the stood. they had to shoot his gun away then run to him and beat him till he was down.
