To be honest. Tsunku held auditiions for a member of Morning Musume AND for a person to do an anime. He wanted a cute girl with a 'HIGH-PITCHED' voice not a good one but a high-pitched so yeah she got the part even though she can't sing live but don't most American singers not sing live?

I think this was her first solo in MoMusu, and she looks really young here, so it's easy to see how nervous she is. She's gotten so much better, though! She just needs a couple more years, and she'll be amazing~!!!

She still being new at this time is not an excuse. Same goes with this song having the need to sing with a group. Aika did way better with her Osaka Koi no Uta (for someone who just entered). Plus, Osaka Koi no Uta is harder to sing alone.

Anyway, I prefer this Koharu compared to the current one. This one seems more sincere in what she's doing and she's not doing it for the sake of getting the spotlight. Unlike the current one with her 'cuteness'. What happened to her wanting to be cool?

weird that some of you guys are comparing Koharu to senior/veteran members. This clip was in 2005. Koharu joined Momusu in 2005. How'd you expect her to be better? Comparing her to Airi (Cute) and Takahashi isn't proper also since this 2 had vocal training before even they joined Momusu. When comparing please use common sense and logic and be fair to the girls.

Keep in mind this was two years ago. (First solo? She was only active in the group for about two months at that point.) There's also a video somewhere that shows her struggling to learn the Iroppoi Jirettai dance. Watch her now. Her voice grates on some, but she's got more control over it, and she has tons of confidence dancing, too.

I think the "miracle" is her personality. She's ditzy and fun and the publicity surrounding her is a strategy to get kids interested in Momusu.

She did it really bad...but she was nervous, so I undestand. But saying she´s only 12 it´s not a excuse...A lot of people sing better at the same age or minus (look at H!P Kids, C-ute or the ohters). And Momusu had a lot of 12 years members who did it great: Ai Kago, for example. And you can see in youtube a video of Takitty when she was 12, and she was amazing (and she wasn´t at Momusu! So cool!)
