  • now I know what vid your intro footage came from. off to find the footage of the green mamba now.

  • Do you have any Black Mambas?

  • @viperkeeper I did a search on your profile, but I wasn't able to find any videos. But do you, or have you ever kept any sea snakes? I'd imagine they'd be difficult to care for in terms of their living environment.

  • LOLOL the slo mo part was hilarious xD OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

  • what species of bothrops is that?

and why are they always so pissed off?

  • @Dkouts57 Because it's their nature to be very defensive. B. atrox F2 generation, Parents from Trinidad.

  • dam man! be safe! no need to see you on that "fatal attractions show" Is that the same snake Austin Stevens extracted a HUGE amount of venom from in the wild...it's the video where he is basically shitting his pants...lol.

  • That made me jump! I'll leave the snake handling to people like you.

  • what is that snake that is below the pogo stick with venom

  • @mandivideo Macrovipera turanica (Blunt nosed viper)

  • the pogo stick with venom how did u come up with that

  • @penguins571 Was not me, Bryan Fry did.

  • You might have to feed him by email

  • That's pretty sick... I don't know that I'd be comfortable with the snakes at eye-level like that. You know, Al, that snake looks JUST like the Malayan Pit vipers - from the bottom of the head and downward. Body and head shape, mouth, fang length, temperament... Cool snake - where does it come from originally? I'll look it up - no need to answer!

  • Wow! That is a feeding response for sure not aggression but the net result is the same. Be careful brother I enjoy your videos to much to have you get taken out by one of your animals.

I have a pair of spotted pythons that act like that but if they tag me no big deal. That would have been at best a bad and expensive trip to the hospital.

  • Al, I really have to commend you with the cautiousness and self-discipline you display around these snakes. Especially this species. I was watching a piece on YouTube from Steve Austin's snakemaster where he was dealing with a Bothrops Asper in a very up-close and personal fashion. That's probably fine for him because he knows what he's doing, but the risk there is that a less-enlightened person might watch that and then think it's ok to pick up and handle a snake like that.

  • The six million dollar man? I think you mean Austin Steven's :).

  • We sure approve of your two-square-policy, Al!

  • good vid and nice collection

  • Ha that snake is badass. I'm jealous. Wish I could bite people that fast....

  • hope ya get bit next time =)

  • y dude like really?

  • Another great video. This one really backs up the warning message in the start. 5*

  • oh my happy you didnt get bit

  • Great video which demonstrates how dangerous these "pogo sticks with venom" can be...

I can just tell that you're going to be pissed off if the lense from your new camera becomes scratched from a fang...lol

  • I have a $5 uv-filter protecting the lens

  • hi Al. great vid as always :-)

can't find the 720p link though...

  • They won't process it up to that level. I shoot & edit at 72op althought the camera is 1080p

  • Woah. This little snake was hungry. Glad there was none of these venomous snakes in Montreal... Well, loose, I mean.

  • lmao wow....nice vid!

  • hey viperkeeper is it possible for a snake to get heart worms from the potting soil and plats in a live terrarium

  • The vector for heart worms is a mosquito

  • I am old time Brazilian watcher! 2 things I want to say: First! I almost pee in my pants today! Second! Yours videos are awesome! I wish I could visit and see live. God bless you!

  • Thanks mate :-)

  • That's one locked-on heat seeking missile at 0:44. I hate to meet up with any Bothrops in the wild as they will lock-on to you and stike.

  • Hey i saw in the last cobra video that u had crickets, what for?

  • They were for the V. renardi

  • These have got to be some of the best strikers. They might not be as fast as some of the bitis, but a 6 ft bothrops having a 4 foot, heat seaking strike is nerve wracking.

  • Jeez! I guess lanceheads are the exception to the 2/3 body length strike distance. If that's the feeding response, I'd hate to see the backed in a corner, life or death response of it.

  • nice!!! do you have any non venom snake?

  • Sorry but I don't

  • i used to be scared now im just like dang whts going to happen next .. what have u been up to.

  • Up to my ass in sharks with blood in the water, as usual :-)

  • That was nuts.

  • Just doing what it was designed to do.

  • How true to its' nature. Bothrops need to lock-on to their prey and strike with lightning speed to survive.

  • Blimey, that was fast.

  • You must get alot of Epinephrine when that happens!? :P

  • Actually not any... It has be be extraordinary for that to happen. That sort of thing is common but usually not so dramatic.

  • Wow! Great video! The most amazing part of the video to me is that the lancehead shot half of its body out of its cage and still seemed to be in total control of itself.

  • I noticed in most of your slow motion strikes, you hear your voice reaction as the strike is coming. This time, the snake beat you! Looks like it went for hand that holds camera instead of lens too.

  • Wow, you have guts dude. I can do the "Ow that smarts!" venom, but the lethal kind...naaaaaa-uh! X-D

  • yikes thought he gotcha :S

  • The Naja naja came much closer.

  • I very much enjoy watching your vids. Glad you're safe.

I have a particular fascination for mambas. I'd love to see some vids with them. Do you still have Kermit?

  • Yes, Kermit is fine. His cage is overdue for cleaning, so I have not filmed him....

  • just got outta the hospital after 9 days, from 1 of these. got super lucky, just a 1 fang scratch, but pain thats indescribable!

  • Dang, thats dangerous!!1 thank god you werent bitten

  • WOW!!! What a doozie!!!

  • Even though I knew it was coming, it still scared me when he struck. It never ceases to amaze me how fast those animals are. You sound like you might be a little under the weather, Al. You have a cold?

  • Yes, I can't get rid of the damn cold...thanks for asking.

  • whoah! that little thing has got ALOT of spring! haha. as always, stay safe.

  • Wow the sound on you're camera is excellent. Glad you didn't get tagged. At first i actually thought you got bit...... from the camera angle. I caught myself yelling "SHIT" out loud Lol :) Be safe al.

  • Have you ever been bitten seriously?

Sorry if the answer is somewhere else, i couldn't find it so quick.

    Great video's by the way.

Last Q: how many snakes do have actually?

    Greetings from Amsterdam.

    Ed

  • The slow-mo scream cracked me up, but that was a close one Al.

  • do you have a stick on the end of the camera, so your hand isnt so close to the snake? lol like when you do "cobra cam" or something, they somtimes actually bite the camera, so im hopeing your hand isnt right there lol.

  • sometimes

  • was that a lancehead ?

  • South American Pit Viper, in this case Bothrops atrox

  • Hey Al i hate to be naivee and ask this cause i cringe at some off th stuff you get posted - but why does a expert at your level and with your involvement put the hazard signs on the vivs - i can understand the sexing one but you god dam' viperkeeper - i think you know you handling loaded gun and i read before you dont allow visitors - Bob knows what hes doing and so does your trainee so why the need? pleease tell me it not so intruders are hurt and dont sue :o(

  • There are warning signs on every cage, some have extra like the yellow "CAUTION WHEN OPENING" if you look at this video it's on screen in the first few seconds. Outside the room there are warnings. Intruders will be after the snakes anyway. My .45 ACP is far more lethal, quicker acting too, than any of the snakes in the room. It's me that should be warned about!

  • You sir, are one crazy man. One crazy man with a death wish. BUUUUT I do say, I'm glad you do it. ^______^

  • Death wish? No, I don't think so. I am far safer in my snake room as opposed to walking around in down town Philadelphia or other major cities.

  • Close call. I like these shorter vids. dont always have time to watch the 15 plus minute ones.

  • These short segments are rare, don't get used to it.

  • I personally enjoy the longer videos, I can just take 20 min and watch some venomous snakes. Better than TV alot of the time, because of the level of dramatization in those snake shows.

  • Bothrops have some pretty insane strike ranges!

  • More than half their length.

  • Close call. Great footage.

  • Glad you didn't get bitten again, i hope that you can continue teaching everyone, and showing us some of these amazing herps you have.

  • Wait for it...waaait fooor iit.. NOW!!!!!

    Holy crap XD

  • LOL! That was quite a leap! Its surprising how far they can bolt with no pre-movement!

  • lol you dont expect to work with snakes and not have that happen to you at least once. :D no jk, that probably happens a lot.

  • WOW that did make me jump even though I was expecting it as the title of the video suggested that it would be a good attempt on your life. I am liking the quality and clarity of the videos too. Great stuff Al

  • That snake almost had you. What is the snake under the Bothrops?

  • Blunt nosed vipers (M. turanica)

  • Coolest strike at a camera I've ever seen!! Thank goodness you were able to post it. :o). Love the videos!!!!

  • I´ve read a comment of yours...someone asked something about getting bit,and you replyed with not since 1978 or something like that..can you tell us what happend?

  • Sorry if I am stating the obvious but I think that snake was more angry than hungry.

  • Not in the least...they will rattle their tail when pissed off....No question, that's a feeding response.

  • Little monster! LOL...

  • Dang, another reason to admire you. 5 stars! You gave me a scare there.

  • I would have suffered extreme dehydration right about then.

  • @bigfoot4160 Lot more fun when they're 2 meters in length

  • i presume by hearing your voice your a bit chilled

  • @Exoime No...I have a bad cold and throat. I don't break a sweat, these sorts of strikes are part of the job. The nice thing about this species is you know where their at...unlike Bitis which just sit there.

  • lol wow close 1

  • wow :D amazing video !
