Yeh, those side forks lifting the car are definitely prone to failure; of course, I've not searched it, but, surely one has fallen somewhere, sometime. If not, mine would be the first one, and you probably feel the same. Yeh, the jack stands, guaranteed safety! I'd be scared to death to walk under the side fork lift. Now, they probably have a 100% perfect track record, but, yours might be totally worn out too. I heard you say something about being low on fluid. Maybe the lift isn't safe.
Why wouldn't I? I use jack stands. It amazes me how little people know about physics! Some people are not afraid to trust their life to something some china plant put out, but fear something built with good American ingenuity.
