  • Leave it to the ANZACs to get punk-reggae/reggae-punk just right.

There's a lot to be gleaned from apprections from the antipodes.

They watch from afar. (And, per capita have sacrificed more than any in war and shit).

Enjoy what they like and like to make of things from elsewhere.

Don't be surprised if their attitude becomes popular globally

    You have been warned.

  • @naganokumas very astute observation.thanks, its a bit of an acquired taste but once you get into the spirit of the music, totally unique and addictive

  • internet or not, cold chisel are to me one of the best bands ever. period.

  • At first I was disappointed this was not one of the non-live MVs.. but as soon as Ian started playing.. and Jimmy started singing.. I was glad this video was posted.. they were as good live as they were in the studio.. not many bands like that any more..

  • ...and there was the time we were 3am chilling with a couple of friends who worked the street, (Sweethearts was a safe haven for working girls to take a break and for us musos who were wired after gigs), and we commented how much the bloke on his own at the back looked like Bowie. Next day David Bowie was quoted in the newspaper saying how he'd enjoyed coffee and people watching at a little joint called Sweethearts. Damn! Missed a chance there.

  • sweethearts was where mcdonalds is now on darlinghurst road

  • @lookatmepleasesir no it was across the road i,m 5 years older than Jimmy B arnes & yes it was the go & great song but he or any other muso was never there

  • @xDamianx0 why did he sing about it if he was never there? apparently he would go there after a night at the manzil room

  • thankyou for putting this up!

  • see you at Deni tommorrow boys!!! :-)

  • Oh man, I remember coming out of The Manzil Room 6:00am, shielding my eyes from the urrrk 'brightness'... it was only a short walk up to Sweethearts, straight opposite from 'Les Girls'. Aaaahh hot chocolate and cinnamon toast cleansed the palate, hehe... felt like doing it all again then. Mind you, I was actually back where I started 10hrs earlier... eating the other Sweethearts 'special'... Hot Bananas and Ice cream... lol

  • a great song, best of the album, love it

  • If there had been the Internet in the Early 80s Cold Chisel would have been one of the biggest bands in the World. Keep up the good work nzoz with your videos

  • @robtuffield thank you and a totally agree...

  • @nzoz1979 As I have said before (maybe a year or so ago) need to nominate you for the Order Of Australia, or Australian of the Year! I grew up in the 90s in Hong Kong to expat parents who loved Chisels despite the pom, local and yank neighbors. These songs remind me of summers in a beauty of a place call the New Territories in Hong Kong. I remember going to some wanker international school in Dads car and he would have chisels blaring at full bore and hell everyone knew who it was! Love it!

  • @robtuffield I fuckn agree mate

  • @robtuffield cold chisel was one of the greatests band in the world anyway, to me.. :)

  • @robtuffield yes, so so true.

  • What I'd give to see them like this again.. Not with the modern sound like an angle grinder Barnsey. nor with his kids... Just Chisel.

Another song from round when i was leaving school... No plans for life, just take it as it comes, school is nearly over, enjoy life, make the most of it... Shame we never really knew what life and the future had in store for us... ... or music.

Thanks NZOZ, another winner.. Hook up for a coffee sometime.

  • morning in the cross

  • Why doesn't Mossy rule the world RIGHT NOW!!!???

  • This is CLASSIC!

  • well hell i remember sweetwaters.....i think we did two and two concerts at mainstreet in auckland...the concerts b;y the river were best,,,,go Dave Stone x

  • Sweethearts was a restuarant in Darlinghurst Rd, Kings X near where the boys recorded. My grandfather owned the store next door. The guys often ate there early in their careers

  • My favourite Chisel song...but is the toast round or brown? I thought it was brown but he sounds like he sings round on this vid.

I am sure his album in about 1988 was number one..."too much aint enough love" thats all you ever heard either on tv, radio or at parties...shame hes gone a bit gay now though...

  • @mastertusk he also says wreakfast

  • effing love it

    puuuurrrfection, mossy and Barnes

  • Anyone who doesn't think Jimmy B. could sing needs to listen to the first 32 bars of "Star Hotel".

  • Love this song.... Proud to be AUSSIE

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhh ohohohoh

  • timeless song what a classic.

I like Hound Dog, Bow River, STAR HOTEL and this LIVE

  • bow river, then this

  • probably on e of there best.

  • OK folks, what do you reckon is the best cold chisel song?

  • Letter to Alan!!

  • Khe Sahn Or When The War is Over

i would have to say are there two best

  • those are the most popular... from a purely musical perspective, i still say theyre good, but they have got other songs that top the list

  • Forever Now.

  • Folks? ok, I would have to say Bow River.

  • Cold Chisel simply awesome! Long time Kiwi fan.

  • This is my favourite Cold Chisel song. Thanks for posting it!

  • Great band....Cold chisel from incredible show from 1979.

  • Wow They Were Tite!

    Great Share Gar!

  • Blocking is something new? Never knew it could be done. Anyway, great song and thanks for uploading all this stuff for Aussies like me who are very far from home. Best regards to you Nzoz for all the work you've being doing for the community.

  • Thank you... I much appreciate it!

  • i cant see how anyone could bag this song or any chisel song. they are all brilliant.

  • max respect to you nzoz

you have made a lot of aussies and kiwis/maoris real happy... good on ya for blocking any people wrecking the great aussie music experience.

  • no worries mate... thank you!

  • guys, have checked out his comments, apols to you both! - rock on aussieavenger

  • Again, revealing how obsessed you are with Cold Chisel and how gay you want to get with this.

Everybody, send a message to this guy and leave him a comment. He raids Cold Chisel videos and tags them an identity that he is clearly struggling to come to terms with himself.

Deal with your homosexuality on your own - do not involve Cold Chisel and their fans.

    Blocked again, (cock) sucker.

  • mate, it shouldn't matter was this guy says or thinks! You should get over yourself as well..just enjoy the music - mrdurdan has his right to an an opinion..go and have a beer and chill the hell out!!

  • He has been on other Cold Chisel videos abusing the people who have made positive comments. An opinion only goes so far before it becomes abuse. He deserves what he gets.

  • fair enough then! i hadn't followed the chain of comments across the tube! give him hell.

  • thank you... i bloody well will! He has now hit on 'Khe Sanh'!!!!

  • maybe you could join him... rights to opinions have also a right to rebuttle... chisel as an australian icon deserve the max respect and anyone who thinks diff is on the wrong page... this is a chisel song.. for chisel fans... other agendas dont rate.

  • mate i love chisel so go and fuck ya self, you can rebut all you like if it makes you happy! Quite frankly i don't give a shit.

  • MrDurdan is a complete tool, i think he is trying to deal with the homosexual feelings and doesnt want to admit it. So he has to abuse people who make positive comments about Cold Chisel, Cold Chisel are the best!!!!!!! I urge everyone to give Durdan shit, bombard him with comments and messages. Hes a cocksucker.

  • Mate, wateva homo music u maybe into. No 1 gives a fuck. This is wat i call "REAL MUSIC"

  • Really nice song. It's one of my favorites by Cold Chisel.

    Cheers from Syria

  • Cool.

  • ahhh.. listening to chisel.. ice cold beer.. barby wafting just above my nose.. tightly packed joint.. ahhhhh.. this IS australia.....

  • amen

  • Awesome stuff

  • These days if you sit around a coffee shop in the cross not too long the police will strip search you in public view.

  • Barnes, The Cross,SweetHearts always had my asparagus and cheese omelette there. Said in Saturday Night worked the Golden Nuggett amusement/gambling parlor. Working girls, drug dealers miss them all.

  • GO the barnes, doing it for adelaide LOL

  • Mate this is timeless music, certainly scracthes an itch in my soul........Barnsey is awesome too.

  • None of the fags running around today will ever get near chisel. fact.

  • A bloody classic! Chisel will always be my fave Aussie band!!!

  • SAme old.

  • never heard this song until now and....yeah pretty cool

  • I've actually had breakfast at Sweethearts, it was on the corner opposite 'Les Girls'. The place to go in those days was 'The Manzil Room'... I remember spilling out of there at 5am, what else to do then... have breakfast at Sweethearts. They made a really nice 'hot bananas and ice cream', but that was munchies BEFORE going to The Manzil Room... One of Jim's favourite places to go after a gig... aaah, the memories (actually don't remember much of those nights ;)~ heh heh heh...

  • and what country is this in?

  • This was in Sydney's Kings Cross... in Australia, the 'red light' district :)~~~

  • Sweet as awesome thank u

  • Don walker wrote a song about how he saw things in the Cross and so well "She don't smile that much she just wears that mini skirt" So cool Breakfast at Sweathearts. Ants

  • barnsey drunk, tired and angry is a better singer than any fucker oz has today.

he could scream in perfect tune. who the fuck can do that.

pull ya head in non believers,

  • Anyone who says Jimmy Barnes is a bad singer, obviously doesn't know the first thing about quality.

    I'm 16, and i know.

  • now when i get on the sauce i get on the leggo's....

  • hehe

  • every 1 stop sayin how barnseys a shit singer or watever id like 2 see u guys be half as succesfull as he is

  • Nothing like Joe Cocker I am sorry. You cannot compare him with soul singers. Otis redding, Wilsen Picket, Teddy Pendagrass, Percy Sledge, Marvin Gaye and even Andrew String. You cannot compare. If you do then you are showing total disrespect to the greats because Barnsy is not even close to them.

  • Jimmy Barnes was never a soul singer but what a voice.

  • I agree he has a powerful voice.. But i do know that it is quite damaged.. Not that great i can tell ya.. I think he has done well for himself and he is popular for a reason but I think if you are going to listen to a singer, John Farnham has the voice hands down without a doubt. You cant argue a point like that. John has been the most successful male singer of our time. Even Jimmy Barnes will tell you that.

  • John farnham himself said that one of the peaks of his life was singing when the war is over with jimmy (jimmy sung the part he normally does). he (farnham) said he got a bigger treat out of it than the crowd would have... (and look at JB now - 9 solo no. 1 albums? plus... 4 or 5 with chisel?

  • @imlay1992 number 1 ? which of his albums hit number 1 ? i love JB but am i missed somthing?

  • better question... which of his albums DIDNT hit number 1... (love and fear and psyclone didnt hit number 1 i think... not many more than that though)

  • @imlay1992 you sure cause i never saw his albums in the number 1's i mean his never played on any radio station

  • @timmy71 you obviously listen to the wrong stations mate...

  • why would you compare? it's a totally different style.

  • uhhh... Dickhead... at many points Jimmy Barnes is a soul singer... (look at his solo albums!) I'd easier to compare them and Jimmy than Elvis and MJ...

And go ask Joe cocker himself (if you get the chance), or more possible for scum like you, listen to the song GUILTY - a duet with Jimmy and Joe cocker... (on Flesh and Wood)

  • and about wilson pickett, try: land of 1000 dances, i found a love. Otis Redding - respect and also to love somebody... (otis didnt record as he died) Jimmy covered these bloody well as the absolute undisputed aussie music legend he is! (response to micko0101)

  • All time favorite Chisel song. This song was how I was introduced to the band's music when I lived in Melbourne back in the late 80's. Absolutely ACE!!!!

  • What about Moss?

  • If that question is refering to me then i will tell you that I love Ian Moss. He should have been the lead singer of this band from the start. He can actually sing. Please dont tell me that Barnes can sing, Please. Have you even heard his latest stuff. It is so bad. He claims he has two sets of vocal chords or whatever. look I remember when he use to coff up blood after gigs. How can that be healthy for you. Rock singer, screamer whatever. You should never have to coff up blood after a gig

  • he only coughed up blood after A gig (or 2) around the last stand time because he had a throat infection of some description... the way he screams (as you micko0101 says... the good way), he warms up properly, he has the range, he has FULL control over his voice... without a doubt he CAN SING

  • Not a screamer but a real from the heart and soul rock singer. Think John Fogerty or Joe Cocker. One of the best ever. Chisel's efforts at reggae were not the best but Sweethearts was kinda nice ;-)

  • And I do know what I am talking about because I have been a very successful Vocal coach for 25 years. He is a screamer, A good screamer but not a good singer. A singer sings with smoothness in the voice and no vocal strain caused by belching it out.

  • bro listen to rosaline 4 walls ita bro he can sing but his aggro comes from wwere he came from, dont tell me bon cant sing, its all about attitude, just ask jimi

  • you have no idea.. jimmy is the best...

  • your a tool, go teach your soft pop shit, this is rock with soul.......Now go suck a dick.

HAHAH^^ this sounds so funny with that audio preview thing.

  • @micko0101 . Yeah, well the old saying is appropriate here. those who can, do. those who can't, teach. check your facts, too. based purely on record sales, not vocal coach opinion, barnesy is the most successful australian male artist of all time. farnham is not even close.

  • he is the voice of aussie rock n roll,

  • I agree but it is my personal oppinion.. But I do agree with this comment

  • my fave chisel song!!!!

greatest aussie band of all time!

  • Sweethearts, French's, Manzil Room, Paradise jazz Club, Les Girls, Bourbon and Beefsteak, Piccolo cafe, The Baron, the street gals....many a sleepless night could be had in the ol' days of the Cross! Sadly, it aint got the same 'feel' as it use to. Still, as 'Ralph' sang in that ol' tune of his: i wish time stopped still ten yrs ago(now we'd say 20!)i'm slowly realising life is always changin'!( Best yrs Of Your Life- Richard Clapton).

  • :-) Deep Water is one of favs ever

  • You just told my life story...I was the DJ at the Manzil Room..

when I started I was given a pair of Ray-Bans...

it was always daylight when we finished !!!

That and a job at DOUBLE JAY RADIO... Hottest music - hottest life !!!!! - Great memories of a golden age of aussie music !!!

  • Thanks nzoz, great songs you've put on... Good on ya!!!!

    Choice one!!!!!

  • nzoz, you keep coming up with them. Well done mate. Soon as I figure out how to put stuff on this new fangled gadget, I'm there.

  • cool... can hardly wait!

  • ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!

  • Kings X not forgotten. Reminders in this classic.

  • Absolutely what davo said - you can smell the Cross with this song - just a superb band

  • I had breakfast at sweethearts in the cross in 1990 just after I joined the navy from alice springs Ian moss' home town ,it wasnt lost on me even tough I was para at 7.30am not 6.00

  • ooo...argh!! brandivino...27yrs ago...still got the hangover!!!

  • what davo said

  • This song is so Kings Cross, Sydney, at the time. Very atmospheric, you can almost smell the coffee and the drunks!!!
