How long did it take before you're dreads really started getting tight and clean looking? I'm hoping to start dreads after a while, when I feel comfortable enough to do it right, I think we have about the same hair texture, my hair's straight. I seen alot of new dreads that have alot of loose hair's, I was wondering how long it would be before the loose hairs really would start forming together & become I guess what I would call "adult dreads" I consider early dreads baby dreads lol. @TOLBERTBOY hey man, there are a lot of different methods of doing dreads and from my experience backcombing worked the best with me. it all depends on how well you maintain them. As long as you keep with it and really commit to dreads then you should be fine. Just section them out for how thick you want them.. Mine were anywhere from 1 in^2 to 2.5in^2. my dreads were all different thicknesses.. (i think it looks the best) its all about your preference..

@NZsil80 try doing a search for Doctored Locks. The sight has some great micro needles which are great for sorting out loose hair. otherwise deadheadHQ have a whole bunch of stuff you can use.

Hey Anthony, I started my dreadlock journey about 1.5 months ago, no wax. I started with backcombing and i'm occasionally T&R my forming dreads (Trying to avoid it though). I'm currently at work so didn't hear if you mentioned it, but how did you start your dreads? with a particular process or just neglect and separate? @drDr6d hey man thanks for the comments.. thats a good question. what i do is ill take two dreads that look good together and ill take a small black rubber band. ill wrap it around at the bottom of the dread and keep them together for a few months then ill cut the rubber band out.. its really easy because you just put the band in and forget about it.. i hope that helps man.. peace
