mrscaryspider, PLEASE be VERY CAREFUL with this. Such pits should only be used for survival. DO NOT just play around in it and DO NOT attempt to make any sort of tunnel. Any hole in the ground is VERY DANGEROUS and many people have died in them before so please DO NOT go in there unless you absolutely need to for survival.

These pits can also be dug as boobie traps. Instead of hiding in them, you place verticle sharpened sticks covered in human feces inside. Person falls in, gets a stabbed leg, and goes into shock from the bacteria infested feces coursing through his veins.

mabey u should make a underground living place were u can make a tunnel into a small room were u can hide your ammo and your equipment and thell never notice thats what i did and i have never lost a game but i made the tunnel 20 ft across so sometimes i camp out in it to its worth the effort

dude. ive been in survival. its not fun. it sounds cool but its scary to know your lost. i was 9. before thinking about anything you must quickly gather supplies. but use your calories wisely. 1. gather wood. lots of wood. wood might be one of the most useful things. when i go in the woods i always have a bag with water a compass and rope. if you go in the woods dont waste space carrying books. u need to make a fire and shelter first.u need to rest. dont waste ur time being camouflaged.

What you need to do is build a regular foxhole with a small 1 or 2 foot long tunnel to the scout pit so when you get attacked you jump in there and hide until they've left I've done it and works pretty well

nice, hey man in trying to make my own underground fort, but in going to dig a large pit 9-5-6 and a bunch of seperate trenches with other rooms leading to the main one but our soil over here isnt the best so for the main room im going to need to board the top because we have 2 feet of dirt till ya get ter the clay any advice tool preprences ????/

@bushcraftmaster12201 i would suggest that you tunnel instead of entrenching look at my tunnle video for advice on that, but as for the tool.....i dug a pit very simmlar to what you described and i found that a flat tipped shovel that has been mildly sharpend works well also some hand held pick axes have a flat edge on one side ive never used one but it looks like it would be the best tool for the job, i have used a hatchet and that works ok. clay is very hard and takes forever to dig through.

@mrscaryspider hey i acctually started today and got everything but the last feew feet down done in like 4 hours with my e-tool it is the military version but if your makin tunnels you need this thing! it goes form a pick to a axe to a root saw to a shovel to a trowel to a toilet no joke! i can chop up all the clay into loose bits then scoup it out, also the main room is going to be a boarded roof but then im going to dig trenches 5by5 feet and put cut off 55 gallon barrels in as a lining

@bushcraftmaster12201 great job ,i had a e-tool a wile back but it was a cheap-o wal-mart brand and it broke 2 months later but i know about how useful they are and your not joking about the toilet thing, it rely works. and the clay that shit is hard and even with an e-tool, only good thing is about that is you can mix it with water and as long as it dose not get wet (like on the floor) it is like concrete.
