Well we all know what a quality band the Sweet were and will always be, and this was a GREAT cover version, and I have to say this is a fabulous video edit but the footage is actually them singing Hellraiser, a much bigger hit than Peppermint Twist. Still, just pointing that out as I really enjoyed this all the same. ;-)

@hakkman2007: Just for your ínfo - it peaked at no. 1 in Australia n stayed there for quite a while. All of them, the band, the management, just everybody, was surprised. Because Peppermint Twist was sort of a filler for Sweet F.A. They had about 3 min. spare on the LP and no song. So it was put on more or less as a joke.

It has to be credited to Joey Dee & The Starliters and goes all the way back to 1961. It had been part of Sweets repertoire for ages before it saw the light of day on Sweet F.A. - as a filler, in fact.

I used to go to a youth club in Preston road Wembley,This is where the nucleus of this band formed, Drummer Mick Tucker started with Unit 4 an instrumental outfit playing Shadows /Hunters/Spotnicks/ect, They employed a Singer to sing cliff songs,Phil Wainman, Then they were called Wainrights Gentlemen Then sweet!!
