  • MTV listen up! this format is what made you now bring it back! I don't care what you have to do, but legions of people will tune in if you just cut the bullshit reality shows and play videos, have you forgotten what the letters MTV stand for? Hellow!!!!

  • SAN JUAN DE MIRAFLORES

  • BUENAZA- VICTOR DE PERU

  • ★ありがとうございます!

    ★Thank you!

  • This is one of the true gems of the 80s. It was right at the strike of midnight of August 1, 1981 that MTV started broadcasting from Fort Myers in New Jersey, with this highly symbolic clip. The rest was history, The Word according to Beavis and Butt-Head. A freakin' Pandora's Box by all accounts.

  • This video deserves to be way higher. The first video to be shown on MTV. Awesome song they chose.

  • Video killed the radio star..... and MTV killed itself.

  • This was the first music video every shown on Mtv.

  • First and last...

  • the first time i heared this song it was on the radio n_n

  • :] i think it's funny that they made a music "video" for "video killed" the radio star

  • figata

  • Wonderful.

  • Yeah, this is so groovy and so prophetic! How did they know?

  • humbleradio: I think computerized technology was so changing the recording process by then, that they saw what was coming. They had already seen it happening with television. Also, is that Trevor Horn, who produced Yes' wildly successful 90125 album?

  • Part of the original 8 on MTV thats right kids MTV played videos at one time. And they only had 8 to begin with

  • what were the other 7?

  • Forgot what 6 others were 1 of the 8 was a Pat Benatar song either Promises In The Dark or You Better Run

  • Video has killed the radio star - it's been a slow process that's taken about 20 years, but radio is over.

  • No, it isn't. Check out WCBS FM in NYC. They made a huge comeback with 60s, 70s, 80s music.

XM and Sirius also have huge followings. They said radio was over when movies were invented, then said it when TV came about, then when cable was offered, then Sat TV, now digital, programmable television. Radio is still here. ;)

  • Great choice for MTV's first video. That was back when MTV was good. Before they became propaganda minister for the politically correct.

  • love it

  • this song is awesome

  • I only like the song not the video.

  • first mtv video

  • Nice. But the last past of the song is cut off. Bummer.

  • omg this track is very sweet :D i love it , it marks the times when TV came out and was the next big thing ... its good to look back on the old days sometimes , lol , this track is gold , one of the tracks that wont be forgotten :D

  • greaaat

  • i ♥ this song

  • haha who doesn't :P
