This is one of the true gems of the 80s. It was right at the strike of midnight of August 1, 1981 that MTV started broadcasting from Fort Myers in New Jersey, with this highly symbolic clip. The rest was history, The Word according to Beavis and Butt-Head. A freakin' Pandora's Box by all accounts.

No, it isn't. Check out WCBS FM in NYC. They made a huge comeback with 60s, 70s, 80s music.

XM and Sirius also have huge followings. They said radio was over when movies were invented, then said it when TV came about, then when cable was offered, then Sat TV, now digital, programmable television. Radio is still here. ;)
