  • One of the VI students at my school which I am leaving on the morrow needs a hearing aid, presumably to hear properly.

  • Yay at 0:27 that my dad elio riggillo

  • @seanodrisco11 no u arnt u are just a sick person

  • lol im i evil for laughing at this XD

  • @seanodrisco11 dude, that's not even funny

  • @davlor86 i once gave a shit but i took a traumytrizing events to the eyeballs im very dissapoint

  • @seanodrisco11 i wonder if you said the same thing if you were also deaf-blind.

  • @davlor86 no cause then i wouldent be able to talk or have a perception of the reality we healthy people see ;) id just be a husk of skin and bone with an under developed mind

  • @davlor86 thene i wouldent be able to perseve this reality we normal healthy people see and would be a husk of skin and bone with an underdeveloped mind ;)

  • @seanodrisco11 People like that can still smell, feel, think, touch and that's the way they enjoy life and believe me they are not less humans than anyone, they just have a different way of getting fun.

  • @davlor86 but can they work do labour or pass on healthy genes to ensure the survival of the human species?

  • @seanodrisco11 actually they do. I know about a woman who was born with no legs who competed in the paralympic games, won gold medal and had normal babies. And also what about people who got blind by an accident, they are not important anymore just because they are blind now? so if somebody you loved very much (like your mom,dad or sibling for example) had an accident and "turned" blind, would you stop loving them??

  • it depends if it was my mother then it wouldent change me as she does not love me if it was my dad he doesent care about and abandoned me so yup

  • @seanodrisco11 really? how do you know your mom does not love you? she doesn't take care of you? doesn't take you to school? doesn't feed you? doesn't take you to the doctor when you are sick?

  • @davlor86 i cant say much on youtube comments and i dont know you but recently i went missing for 48 hours and was not brought back home till the special branch were stalking my freinds

  • justgiving. com / Claire-McConologue0

  • I have mascara and i poked myself in my right eye. i mnight be losing vision init

  • i have to say that these interventioners are so much stronger than i could ever hope to be. many people tell me i must be a very tough person because i am in my 3rd year of veterinary school but honestly i think the emotional burden of working with these wonderful but sadly unfortunate people would be many more times harder for me. i know it is wrong to feel empathy for your clients and to an extent i can totally remove my feelings from my animal cases. but these people would break my heart.

  • @summerfae One of the most amazing things about getting to know DeafBlind people is their ability to survive and thrive in what we might see as impossible situations. And all of the DB people I've known are some of the warmest, most social, inviting people ever. Their ability to overcome, while amazing, is just a part of who they are and after a while, you really just see them as people, not a label or a condition.

  • Do you even feel alive when youre blind and deaf?

  • @DTuriTuri Yes,of course, those people are alive too, they may not listen and see but still they can feel, think, taste and touch ;)

  • Will be competing for a Pepsi Refresh grant next month to train intervenors for deaf/blind children. May we refer to your video? Diana Muir dianamuir@plci.us

  • @guidedogs4ever I'm not sure why it is even closing. I think it didn't get as much exposure as the Toronto program did. Yeah, i have heard of so many people having problems with not getting Intervenor's. Makes me sad when i hear that. Do you get any intervention services at all? or do they deny you all of the services?

  • If I could give this ten stars I would.. This is lovly I would want to do this.. I was born with a lot of hearing problems my self .. It is why I do not like my voice. I wonder do you have to go to reg chollege before going here?? Mmm I love people ..

  • kingcrimson@ I was wrong, it is because he is deaf not blind

  • why does the deafblind kid at 8:00 wear glasses? maybe i'm missing something, but if somebody's blind i don't think glasses are going to help.

  • @kingcrimson234 If you take a look at the comment 4 below yours you will see that FantasyFanatic911 said: "most deaf-blind people can either see or hear a little bit"

A quick google search came up with a range of stats saying 10-20% of blind people are totally blind, a lot of blind people have at least some vision...they may have very limited vision (could be helped by glasses) or just light perception.

    blind =/= all dark

Hope that clears up your questions :)

  • because people stare ,and the sun light or ultraviolet light can probably damage the eyes since their always open, and then spread infection to the body or something idk

  • To be considered legally blind you don't have to have a total vision loss. Majority of people who are considered blind, still have some vision

  • I am 17 year old hard of hearing severe in left ear and severe-profound in right ear found that out 2 month ago i use asl in school i knew asl since i was 5 years old because of my grandmother whos deaf. I have met a lot of DeafBlind who has little vision in their eye who wear glasses so they can see a bit better.

  • @kingcrimson234 ( i havnt watched it yet ) But some wear them to hide there eyes, because over time their eyes tend to dry out or not look as nice as ours... (i think)

  • With all due respect, as this sounds like a great program, I feel it should be known that there is in fact another place that offers a 2 year intervenor diploma program. It is in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. It might be another good option for those who would like to check out programs elsewhere. Congrats, to George Brown on the amazing video, VERY INSPIRING :)

  • To Nickel. That program in Medicine hate is going to be gone soon. Their closing it

  • @CanIntervenor That is unofrtunate they are closing the program. Do you know if it was for financial reasons? We need *more* intervenors *NOT* less (including myself with deteriorating more and more of my vision and hearing). I am going to be researching some way to get one in my are, funding or something, since I don't seem to fit any where to get services, etc. Too high functioning deafblind.

  • I would love to be a part of this program...I am getting my deaf studies degree right now in Maryland. However I have taken a class about the Deafblind culture and was a SSP in the summer time. How can I get started?

  • how could you see sign language if your blind?

  • Most deaf-blind people can either see or hear a little bit. It's extremely rare for someone to be totally deaf-blind.

  • If you are totally blind or your field of vision is so small that you can no longer see signing, you can use what is called "tactile signing" which just means using your sense of touch to understand the signing of the person you are talking to. Usually it looks like the deafblind person putting one or both hands on top of the hands of the person that is signing to them. They can understand your signing through touch. Deafblind people are incredible!

  • Blind people feel sign language. Signing letters into a blind's person hand will allow the blind person to feel the shape of the hand, with their other hand.

  • veblice: i was wondering the exact same thing. how do these deafblind people know how to sign?

  • @kingcrimson234 Deaf people can see the signs ...

  • there are a few ways to be able to understand asl, not all ppl are totally blind, most ppl do have some vision, and if they were totally blind there are ways to get around it to be able to communicate

  • i would like to be an Intervenor

  • ive got an interview comin up to become an intervenor! cant wait!! really want this job soooo bad!

  • imagine how hard it must be to not be able to see or hear anything from the moment you're born until the moment you die. kinda makes your own problems seem not so big.

  • amazing and beautiful

  • Where can i get more information about this Program of Intervnor? Send me am message on my page, or otherwise reply back on this Thanks :)

  • How can i reach you! my sister is deaf blind and has been disconnected from the world for a long time..she is 26 years old..can anybody help please

  • I wish I were younger so that I could do this ... Wonderful.
