  • Hello there!

This is the first song that my girl played for me, and I absolutely love it! Ive been practicing since last saturday and ive almost got it, I just have to work on the singing..haha! Anyways, thank you K!!

  • Hot, can play AND sing.....i think you're an angel

  • Kind of a stretch saying this is a Dylan song...

All the verses were written by Jay Secor. Dylan wrote the chorus and just left it at that, then Secor finished the song much later. Copyright is Jay Secor & Bob Dylan, but Secor wrote a LOT more of it than Dylan.

  • thanks so much *kris* im going to the galax fiddlers next year im 11 years old and you helped me learn how to play a guitair thnxs so much practice tomm AWESOMEE GIRL peace out

  • very awesome,!!! Thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to play this song cause I love it, but I thought it would be hard to learn. So thank you so much.

  • thank you

  • Thanks sista! I love this song, it's awesome to get a guide for it! Oh, and rockin tattoo :D

  • I meant to say views... very impressive!

  • wow!~ 15,000 posts and counting! I def want to talk to you bout sumpin'

  • you're pretty :-)

  • I'm not sure how the capo effects it, but when I play it using your method, it sounds out of key.

A, E, F#m, D is what sounds closest to the song off the O.C.M.S. album. The F#m barre chord makes it much harder though.

I did like your sing along though, made it very easy to get the rhythm down.

  • wow.. very intuitive / easy thanks.... and I thing I pretty much just fell in love

  • Thank You ! I'm just learning and this is the best. Peaceful and genuine.

  • ol gurls a trip. but very helpful, how can i go about playing with her. lol

  • Hmm, helpful but tattooed. How can that be? Got me rethinking my whole way of life...

    Much Love $ Respekt! ~Mama K.

  • you're good as fuck!

  • This is one of the best helpers out there - you are a great teacher, not a bad voice either. Wish you did mando. Love the little video cartoon things ;)

  • Crap! one of my comments didn't post :(

    okay... the pattern: D D U D U, D D U D *U U D -

    U U D

    Chord prog: G D Em C , G D C*(accent C 3rd fret, high E string on U U D, then pull off for the last U U D)

    ~Kris :)

  • I'm posting a Ben Harper song and i'll leave the chord progression in the comments, i'm too emotional to do a tutorial on it right now in this wrinkle in time, sorry :(

Thanks SO much for everyone's kind feedback - you're ALL awesome!

    xox ~k.

  • Again... On the last C.... D D U D > then accent pinky on 3rd fret high E string for U U D > then pull it off for the final U U D.

    > then back to G D Em C, G D C*(accent) ... so on and so forth ;)

That's That!!! I mess around all the time and i just made up my own strumming pattern , it's why i love the guitar so much. It's all about what sounds good to you!!!

    Hope this helps!

    ~Kris

  • Sorry about the strumming confusion guys ...

i'm a "wing it and see what it sounds like" guitar player ;) and i don't play with a pick!

other musicians are always ragging on me for it, but oh well - i feel comfortable this way...and one day when i'm not lazy lol i'll probably teach myself how to finger pick and it will be a smooth transition ;)

that's my story and i'm stickin to it! ha!

so...sorry about the strumming pattern confusion. i'm not a good teacher am i ?

    > see next comment...

  • Super instructions ! A 5 star "" thank you "".

  • marry me?! very talented, couldnt figure out why it didnt soud right when i played it, didnt know u had ta use a capo keep up the sexiness and the music

  • thanks sweetie ;) your birds were crackin me up on your green day cover ;) keep up the playing, your tunes r punk rock ;)

    k.

  • can u say what the strumming pattern is

  • See my Version.

  • um i have a question do u have to even play with kapo or whatevr its called? btw great job

  • Yeah, you can play it without the capo if you just transpose the chords a step up. Then the chord progression would be - A, E, F#m, D, and then A, E, D. Hope this helps. Check out the version on my page.

  • sorry, I accidentally clicked the 1 star instead of the "play" and it gave you a 1 star rating from me. It won't let me change it, my bad. Good video

  • Whats your strum pattern for this song???

  • real good. thanks.

  • Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments! ;)

  • Beautiful voice for beautiful woman. Would love to jam sometime. Excellent!!!

  • I really liked watching your video and i'm just learning guitar. I'm not sure about your strumming though my sounds different. is it just up and down or dduudu i can't tell

  • Hey , Yep , that's it exactly! Good Ears ;)

  • your voice is wonderful, thank you.

  • beautiful.....id pay you to sing me to sleep everynight haha

  • Great video lesson. thanks

  • hey really really great job with the video!! great explanations and great soft voice to learn from! hope to see more vids from ya in the future till then.. Peace!

  • Actually, it is a co-write between Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show and Bob Dylan with about 25 years in between. Dylan wrote the chorus in the early seventies, but never finished the song, mainly having only the "Rock Me Mama" part. Secor heard it in the 1990's on a German bootleg and wrote the lyrics. He obtained Dylan's permission, hence a Secor-Dylan co-write. Your instruction is nice. thanks, Bob

  • Thanks Bob. For the info/history and the kind words :)
