The sad thing is that our wonderful government has written the regulations such that a giant warehouse with a door to a four foot square outdoor coop can label their product "free range" because the birds can theoretically go outside.
I'm not saying don't buy stuff labelled "free range." I'm just saying that it might be a lie.
Even better would be to find a LOCAL free-range farmer and visit them to see their operation and buy direct.
