  • Dawkins puts on a great, classy, short. I just posted a song on my channel called Astrology Is Wrong. Not quite as classy, but still to the point.

  • i am not suprised by the results of the experiment in the least. i think the problem here is that they chose the wrong facet of astrology to test in the first place. the stuff you find in news papers & mags is so highly generalized that you could interpret just one sign to apply to them all, as the experiment showed. the strength of astrology lies not in the nitpicking of petty occurances in day-to-day life, but rather in the dynamic layout of the heavens at the exact moment of a person's birth

  • How can Dawkins debunk astrology when he has readily admitted that he hasn't got any knowledge about the subject. Is the man a fool or charlatan? How he can be taken seriously is to be questioned? He must have mental issues?

  • "A shift in the Earths rotational axis of that has ptolemyx zodiac out by 23 dgrees".

Huh? I know that Richard is a scientist and knows what he is talking about so It must be my ignorance. What exactly does the above mean? The Earth is currently tilted at 23 degrees, that is why we have winter and summer. If that tilt was taken away then there would have been just one season all year long back in 200 BC. I've never heard of that! Or does he mean the orientiation of the plane of the solar

  • has changed in relation to the plane of the galaxy? I didn't think that night time skies only 2200 years ago were so different than now. This is news to me and I have been interested in the astronomy and the sciences for most of my 50 years.

    Help please!

  • @TheRadicalLiberal ..use google?

  • Haha, noone actually believes in astrology.

    Right?

  • Reagan consulted some astrologer on political decisions.

  • Reagan the president, I assume? Yeah well... US presidents don't count because they aren't people.

Since Kennedy, I think. Now they are all aliens or something, they act like it at least.

  • Hmm didn't think presidents were any less human (even though they act like it) but I would have to say that yes there are people who still believe this.

  • I know.. I just don't like the thought of grown people believing in stuff like this while having jobs and make decisions that are important and affect other people.

  • I couldn't agree more, its just another religion.

  • @Caltwentynine Astrology isn't a religion, evolution is of course.

  • @the0fart0machine Lol thats a good one, is gravity a religion too?

    If so I guess I'm a "follower" :P

  • @Caltwentynine When evolution is questioned, I half expect gravity to be mentioned so you don't disappoint. You can follow whatever you want, I couldn't give a fuck.

  • @the0fart0machine Can you please rephrase that, I only understood the last sentence.

  • @piip4 Astrology isn't a belief system. Astrology doesn't have an agenda. Unlike science, religion, politics or big business. Don't be brainwashed by the views of s,r,p or bb.

  • @the0fart0machine

Whether you call astrology a belief system or a paper weight doesn't care me much. It's still fucking ridiculous. Which is why it resembles religion in that regard.

  • @piip4 You believe what what your little cotton socks wants.

  • @piip4 No god or belief or faith in astrology, you must do your reseach better. I saw Dawkins in a public book talk, It was like going to a church. It was full of his loyal flock. I wanted to throw up.

  • @the0fart0machine

Oh, well I haven't done my research properly. I didn't come across any evidence supporting astrology's assertion that being born a particular day sets your personality in stone from day 1. Have you heard of the Barnum effect?

  • @piip4 The barrnum effect a psychological term. A lot of people accept evolution but don't know the mechanism behind this process. Do these people suffer from the barnum effect. As for astrology, some people will accept anything that is throwed at them. Doesn't this question the personality of the person than the strength/weakness of astrology?

  • @the0fart0machine

It's no secret that humans have a tendency to follow authority in terms of belief and philosophy. Naturally, people will believe many things without question. That's why most of the world's population believe in magic and spirits. Of course, wishful thinking plays a part too. Bandwagon effect among others all add up to a great deal of people believing in utter inane dogmas. However, I tend to prefer evidence before belief. I'm just silly like that.
