I hold Ben Foster as one of my favorite young actors. No role can is out of his league. In Alpha Dog he puts glaucoma drops in his eyes (commitment) to show what a true junkie would look like physically so bravo Ben, here's to you. Now, "3:10 to Yuma" confused me a bit but then at the end it all came full circle, another superb performance. I'd like to shake his hand! He's a demented dude in Alpha Dog who can handle his own big-time. A national champion in the Tae Kwon Do competitions the guy h
Ben is Awesome! And he's right, when you have someone who is very proficient in a form of Martial Combat, like Tae Kwon Do, but without the discipline that comes with it, that's a very dangerous situation .
"oh I hate my job, I am a narrator who really can not be arsed to raise pitch in my voice, so I will just be a boring monotone bitch, who will make the most exciting movies seem dull, it is my talent" WOW she's 1 boring sounding bitch lol
LOL Ben Foster's best roles are where he's running around screaming, crying, and literally giving himself a headache from how loud he is. His other roles are just painful and decent at best. Guys he's NOT a good actor. At all. Just like Jesse Eisenberg, he looks great because of the role he plays, not his acting. Case and point, Alpha Dog and The Social Network. He's decent, not even good.
@AJVersatility19 i dont know about not being good, he as a certain charisma that cant be found in alot of people, you are right about his best roles are when he plays maniacs, same thing about Jesse bro, while these 2 are far from my favorite, i have to disagree about Foster
@AJVersatility19 Not true. Yes, he has an affinity for playing mentally unstable people, and a lot of them have been the loud type. But his work on "Freaks and Geeks" was great (this coming from someone who has had a lot of experience with the developmentally disabled), and both "3:10 to Yuma" and "Birds of America" were very quiet characters that he played beautifully (note: they were quiet in very different ways).
@deanchamp No one, but that's what i'm saying. The role is core to his acting style. Like i said The Social Network example. It's not the actor, it's the role that's easy for them to play. Name another movie in which Foster is as memorable as he is in Alpha Dog.
All right!! He's like always emotional with the characters he plays. For example: Pandorum. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but his role in pandorum was awsome. But he still looks emotional in this interview. And he's kinda weird but in a good way.
WOW!!!!! 0_0 Casaveties directed this. I couldn't imagine working on this movie with Nick Casaveties directing i'm 6'4 but that guy is a monster from what I hear.
Ben Foster is the fucking man, I like all the movies he's in, and he usually comes out as the best role in each film, he like, absorbs the film around him even if it's not about him.
Behind the scene with the actors when asked about the series or movies they are in and about their respective characters. Many actors reply has been the visual thing that anyone sees, but few actors like Ben Foster seams to have thought about the real point that the producer wanted to emphasize. Respect.
"The line between playing and becoming is really thin." - Ben Foster
hey he pulled it off ! I never expected from this kind of caracter. more a little scared kid, or a crazy alianated kid, but not an agressive fuckerr like this
This dude plays a screw-up in this movie, but he also plays the most badass fighter I've ever seen. The scene where he crashes the party just gets my blood pumping. He literally looks like he fucks everyone's shit up, and it's basically a still camera shot throughout the fight.
it's freaky how in the first part you can see he still has the mannerisms and speaks the same way as the character in alpha dog, and then in the second part his demeanor is completely different.
yeah i know i just meant that the fact that he can convincingly change all those subtle details to make himself really seem like a different person is insane.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
WHAT IS UP his butt? I have not seen one movie that Ben Foster has played in where the film was funny or lite hearted. I cannot take one more of these CW teen dramas.
Ben Foster ROCKS. He plays the part of a brutal, evil mentally unbalanced psychopath so well. I only fear he might be typecast, but if you do something well, why mess with a great formula?
I loved his performance in Hostage -- right up there with Hannibal Lecter and Jack NIcholson's "The Shining" character for skin-crawl factor.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, J.T., Emile Hirsch, and Ben Foster are brilliant. I wanted to find out more about the guy who played Tatooey (Foster). He was really something.
SANTA BARBARA, California Jesse James Hollywood was convicted Wednesday of the kidnap and murder of a 15-year-old boy that inspired the 2007 movie "Alpha Dog."
After deliberating about four days, a Santa Barbara Superior Court jury also found Hollywood, 29, guilty of the special circumstance allegation of being involved in a crime in which an assault weapon or machine gun was used, making him eligible for the death penalty.
What I was saying 44 is that Johnny Truelove calls him a kyke in the movie since he knows Jake hates Jews. He's not saying he's a Jew he's using a deragorty term to refer to him as one since he knows that's not his religion and he hates those types of people.
i know that ..I saw the movie like five times..What i was asking you was what does that have to do with my intial comment stating that ben foster deserves an ocar for this role??That is why i was confused
Ohhhhhh, my bad. I agree, Ben Foster deserved some sort of award for his role in Alpha Dog.
That's why I wish you saw more of Jake Mierzyski near the end of the movie, I would of loved to see his reaction on finding out that his little brother died.
But yeah, I showed my friend this movie the other day and I was like "just wait 'til you see this Jake guy" and all he wanted was to see more scenes of Ben Foster's character. The scene where he kicks ass at the party is badass.
yeah man I totally agree..His brother in the movie was good at ass kicking too..yeah Ben did his thing..The movie itself was just sad that a 15yearold had to die over some nonsense..
Ben Foster's character WAS Jewish in the movie. a) Johnny affectionately calls him a 'Christ-killer' early in, and b) his name is Mazursky. Add those 2 factors & it would appear Jake really is Jewish.
this dude deserved an oscar for his role in this film..his acting was far superior to everyone esles. the only person who came close was the kid who played his brother.justin and emil did well also
im aittle confused about your comments..but yeah the scene with the boss and when sharon stone slapped him and he gave her hug really showed his range..compare that to his role in xmen.. completely dif ferent..he has alot of range
they would call him a kike, I guess he was half jewish? I mean why would truelove call him a kike? damn he was a skinhead too, why didnt he hate his brother for being jewish lol wierd shit.

he is such a badass in that movie i love the part where hes like " you pull that gun on me you better pull the fucking trigger' then he says "oh there no turnin back now johnny" badass movie
that scene where he kicked eveyrones ass was gay. Taikwondo, karate, aikido is just a bullshit you can't really use it on a real fight. If plot is based on a true story it should be kept this way.
All he does in the fight is punch, kick, and headbutt them. If you can't kick or punch someone then you're a retard. Can't you lift your leg and push force at someone or throw your fists at someone. I suppose you think UFC fighting is fake or something because people can score knockouts with taekwondo or karate kicks.

that scene where he kicked eveyrones ass was gay. Taikwondo, karate, aikido is just a bullshit you can't really use it on a real fight. If plot is based on a true story it should be kept this way.
But the film was great in overall.

RETARD ALERT! RETARD ALERT! RETARD ALERT!

That was a reply to lucasrofl. The retard who thinks its impossible to fight with your legs.
thedogman1969 3 years ago
