well, its game week between Michigan and Illinois! The Wolverines ahve won 6 in a row over the Fighting Illini, and the last two times they've played at the Big House, Michigan has won in blowout fashion (45-20 in 2001 and 56-14 in 2003). History is on Michigans side, but on the other hand, the Wolverines are only 2-2, and thier offense looks like shit, while Illinoi;s offense has been explosive all season long. I hope Michiganc an keep it clsoe this Saturday.

I never said Michigan would win. I called a 56-28 illini win, and they won 45-20. I was close in my prediction (gonig into the season, i predicted Michigan to ebat Illinois, but after the 1-2 start, i changed that pic in a hurry, not to mention all my other pics)

I'll grant you Mendenhall, but the QB depends on what offense you're trying to run. In a run-based spread, obviously Juice is better. But in any offense that expects to throw the ball downfield, Henne is by far the better bet.

And Juice can launch the ball, may not be to accurate but, a buddy of my cousins is an Illini f-ball manager, and he said Juice got on 1 knee and threw it over 60 yards, which if you had any football experience you'd know it's not easy. And you obviously don't know college offense's opposed to others.

In terms of pure QB, Juice can't hold Henne's jock. Who gives a shit if Juice can throw it 60 yards from one knee? How many times is he ever going to throw it from one knee? Exactly, never. He's got a great arm and he's a terrific athlete, but he's not half as good a QB as Henne is. Juice was almost benched this year for not performing well. He's completed 48% of his career passes. Yes, I know the difference between a spread and a pro style, but in terms of pure QB, it's Henne hands down.

Jesus, one Rose Bowl that they were only picked because of officials wanting the traditional Pac-10/Big 10 matchup and all of a sudden Illinois fans think that the Illini are the greatest thing ever. The Illini, may ahve had a better record then us, but we beat them head on, and we both finished 6-2 in Big ten play. not true. Mike Hart had 29 carries for 132 yards and 2 TD's, and Mario Manningham had 7 carries for 53 yards.

I'll give you this though: Juice Williams is a better QB then Henne, and he's certainly better at running the spread. Michigan probably goes undefeated next season if Juice Williams was our QB

Clearly we're not getting anywhere with this, statistics be damned. Michigan beat Illinois, I'm happy about that. It's actually a good thing Illinois is good right now, the Big 10 needs good teams. I still firmly believe that Henne is a significantly better QB, but in an offense where he's asked to run, would suck worse than Notre Dame's offensive line. The same could be said about Juice in a pro offense, so apples and oranges.

IMO, this was Michigan's biggest Big Ten win. By upsetting a great Illinois team, they gave themselves the confidence to continue on enough to make it to the Capital One Bowl to beat an overrated, but nonetheless talented, Florida team. The game might be a little different in 2008, though. Even though it's played in Ann Arbor, everything looks good for Illinois in 2008. I see their biggest road wins being over Penn State and Michigan.

I think Illinois is going to surprise everyone in 2008. I predict them to win the Big 10, and it could very well happen if they can win in Happy Valley and Ann Arbor.

I actually don't expect Michigan to completely implode like many do, I predict a 7-5 or 8-4 season for Michigan, with a 9-3 season as a possibility, but I don't see the Wolverines being like the 2007 Irish. I do think RichRod will have a tough time working with Lloyd Carr's players, though, since they don't fit his system.

Illinois is NOT going to win the Big Ten. They are a good team, and I expected them to win 8 or 9 games in 2007. However, they now lose a great runningback in Rashard Mendenhall, and a great linebacker in Jay Leman. They haven't beaten Michigan this mellenium, and the Wolverines clearly own juice Williams. Michigan will beat them by 7-10 points again in 2008.

I totally agree. RR already HAS "his players." He has a wealth of talent that he never had at West Virginia. He was taking no name 2 star prospects like Chris Henry, Pacman Jones, Pat White, and Steve Slaton and turning them into superstars. The Illini finished with a better overall record, with their only OOC loss being to Missouri who was ranked #1 at one point. The Illini were one of four 9-win teams in the Big 10 last year.

I think that Ohio State will be in for a rude awakening next year. They'll lose at Illinois and likely to Penn State. Illinois will likely lose only one game, probably Wisconsin. It will be a road loss. Ohio State will finish second, and Penn State will finish third. Wisky and Michigan should finish 4th.

I meant in the regular season. Illinois was 9-3 and Michigan was 8-4. I'm not sure either why Michigan and Illinois were given their respective bowls if what you said is true that head to head is looked at over regular season overall record. The Rose Bowl committee might have been a little uneasy about selecting a Michigan team that lost to Appalachian State, even though the team did a complete 180 after the Oregon game. That's my guess anyway.

But still, it was nice to see Michigan go to the Citrus Bowl and prove that the whole "southern speed" myth is crap once again (Penn State did it in 2005 and both PSU and Wisky did in 2006, I know FSU is ACC, but they play like an SEC team).

What I'd really like to see is a 7-5 Big Ten team play a 12-1 SEC team and blow them out. It could happen if a Big Ten team picked all tough OOC games and lost them all, but only lost one conference game, and the SEC team lost the SEC championship game.

Wow so many thoughts. I miss this part of the season. We were 7-2, ranked, and looked like a real threat to OSU. The game at Wisco didn't matter that much, but I think the staff could have used that game to warm up the team for the OSU game. I really like Carlos Brown. And look at the shotgun formations we used in this game (around 1:00) and against UF. I'm convinced Mike Debord is secretly a Buckeye. That effort against OSU was pathetic, but there were injuries and bad weather. I don't know.
