  • Seen Hawklords last week , they played a brilliant set , including this gem , if you havent already ...... see em on tour ~ quality !!

  • this was not music for the sheep ..no doubt..those guys get bieber

  • @q3nightmare So true

  • Great track. Great songwriter, Calvert. One of my favourite 'Hawkwind' albums.

  • hawkwind is timeless,an so is fogzax...wikkid vid for sure,its hawkind,or hawklords....anything hawky is fuckin trippy....get yaself there...now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing track and typical for Hawkwind/Calvert is totally unsung yet very influential (especially the Psychedelic Furs singing). When I came across the group Cold War kids I wondered if they named themselves after the great Calvert track. I did a search and came across an early interview a couple of years ago where they said they did! Unfortunately it's since disappeared off the net o_0

  • A pure Calvert track and all the better for it. A truly beautiful album!

  • A pure Calvert track and all the better for it! 25 Years was a Robert Calvert tour de force. A truly beautiful album!

  • love Hawkwind great band

  • I the fact that they leave in the mistake, showing we are all human! (And presumably no overdubs as well!)

  • I just bought the hawklords live CD.

    Unbeleivable, great tracks too. UW2

  • I love the way they include the "missed cue" by Calvert, which in no way detracts from the excellence of the CD. Everybody's human))))))

  • It is what it is. You do yourself dis-service when you try to classify it. It's HAWKWIND. The only two things constant about Hawkwind are Dave Brock, and the fact that Hawkwind CHANGES. Just my $.02.. which in 'united States of America'n terms equates to approximately $8.47 dollars in debt (pronounced SLAVERY.)

  • @FirstLandingOnMedusa No Brocky on this album though. Thata why they are the Hawklords on this album.

Is that 2 cents = $8.47 debt. Wow I knew you guys are in deep but that's an abyss.

  • @tatunkha

LOL @ abyss comment! =) Brock definitely was on this album, and co-wrote almost every song. The name change was because Lemmy got HW banned from entry to the U.S. for foolin' around with a 'kid.' (Who didn't act or look like one.) A year or thereabouts later Lemmy was back with Motorhead and HW was still banned. This was not likely the ONLY reason, as the sound definitely changed. You may be thinking of a tour or tour segment... Rock on, man!

  • @FirstLandingOnMedusa I stand corrected. I knew that this is 2 members of Ark & members of HW that comprise HL. No Brocky singing is there? I must have made an assumption based on that.

Lemmy was busted in Canada on cocaine that turned out to be speed. Didn't know about the 'kid' in the US though.

Anyways I always considered the album a part of the Hawkwind collection.Diverse as they all are.

    Cheers.

  • @tatunkha

I think Brock mostly did backing vocals. I know he played a lot of acoustic guitar. I heard HW play 'Microman' in a soundcheck 1995 Atlanta GA- It sounded very close to the album, regards the vocals.. so I'm not sure.. I heard about the Canadian incident too. I admit that the 'Lolita' story I got was word of mouth only; I did hear it from several non-connected mouths- but such is the nature of rumour. I probably did wrong by repeating it. =\

  • I think the Calvert era Hawkwind material (mid to late seventies) and the Starfighters 1st album anticipated the "post punk" and "new wave" era.

  • Rainy Monday afternoon in a suburban street but You're looking feeling and sensing it all, rain on the window and relaxed, sleep, dream.

  • This is not the typical hawkwind space rock, this is leaning towards new-wave

  • Hawkwind were too good for the mainstream

  • Incredible album.

  • I have been looking for this album since I had to leave it with my hippie housemates Glenn and Duncan (its rightful owners) when I was 20 (43 now); no-one I have ever spoken to has heard of it, even if they claim to be a Hawkwind fan, wasn't on youtube last time I looked (prob ages), couldn't even find anything in google search engine, thank you so much for uploading this gem, I'm off to look for Flying Doctor now (nice to be able to prove to my kids I haven't made it up). Ta!

  • Same story for me

check ebay on occasion a german music shop put it on for about 16 notes .....Schnieder or something like ...rare as rockin horse crap but I did get hold of copy after two months of hard search...gud luk .cmc

  • It's being re-released with loads of goodies by Atomhenge records on Monday. Can't wait.

  • the best hawkwind era, b calvxx

  • i love this album. cool martin denny pictures too

  • Never forget whiting out in a freezing squat in 1984 with this playing. Happy daze !

  • sounds all too familiar.was such a different world back then, squatters rights-where did it go???

  • Superb quality and excellent imagery. One of my favourite songs from the cosmic space pilots thanks very much.

  • Albums from this period are being reissued in 2009, well worth watching out for.

  • is that for sure?i sold my records years ago,and want to get it all on cd,but not much choice

  • according to the website Cherry Red now have the rights to the later Hawkwind/Hawklords material and will start releasing it with extra tracks in the new year

  • does anyone know if pxr5 was the B/side I am sure ive got 12" grey vinyl? great song needs posting will try if i find my copy.

  • Far out! I've onlt heard this material on compilations and I had no idea of the crazy imagery that went with it. Thanx.

  • Such a good album, where is the remaster/reissue of this and Quark?

  • Whell.....Quark is there allready

    for quite some time,trax from

    Hawklords'25-Years,are only available

    on compilation CD's.

You can make yourself an excelent Calvert

    compilation,especialy with trax from the

    Lockheed album.....«d-_-b».....

  • Excellent work, Calvert was a true genius

  • come on you foxy cat - we are waiting for more classic calvert - 'over the top' ... hey Kitchener - a classic improv then steppenwolf

  • Well that brings back a lot of memories. I think Bonifasciomusso has a great idea there. Would you like to try a montage for Steppenwolf? A song that introuced me to a great author and a world of ideas, and remains one of the most interesting Hawkwind songs of all time.

  • How about a 'Flying Doctor' montage?

  • Excellent video - Bubbles himself would be proud of this montage - go on do another for Steppenwolf or 'Over the top' his later classic 'Rewind' or 'Micro man'

    - same treatment - AA + marks from me

  • A real gem.Never thought I'd hear this again.Thanks for posting !

  • Yeah his receptionist saw him, it certainly shocked her, she said look out you better duck!

  • Couldnt agree more Phil. One of the greatest front men...ever!!!

  • Thanks for putting this up. I was at the Hammersmith show in 1978, then met Bob Calvert a couple of days later. He kindly put my friends and I on the guestlist for the St. Albans show. We met all the Hawklords backstage after the gig, I got my album cover signed by all the band and the drummer gave my brother a set of three badges with a circle, square and triangle on. Bob Calvert was a troubled genius, and it is such a great loss now that he is no longer with us.

  • AWESOME!

  • bløtkake VS. Sjokoladekake
