I haven't seen this episode but, if I did, I probably would have gotten a surprised, but not scared feeling seeing Vincent Twice since Mysterious Theater used to scare me because of the painted woman. However, if Mysterious Theater was still on Sesame Street, I probably wouldn't get a surprised or scared feeling to see the painted woman especially because, Murray Monster on Sesame Street now tells the audience what skit comes next and/or what skit will be coming up soon.
@FriendlyWalrus A lot of people including me used to be scared of Mysterious Theater when we were very young, and I'm sure a lot of people would feel the same way as me right now when seeing Mysterious Theater by getting surprised not scared! If you think you are FriendlyWalrus, you're wrong! You are not friendly! You are RudeWalrus!
watson's fur grown longer, and actually there's another version for this. instead of vincent twice speaks slowly and the place looks dark, he is more lively and the place is outside. however, they got the scary painting of the black dress woman but in another venue.
You know... I just wish for once I could get the full Intro and ending Mysterious Theater themes without any voices sound effects or anything but the music...
If Watson found the sock, he should've picked it up with his mouth and brought it over to Sherlock Hemlock (instead of barking constantly since Sherlock Hemlock wouldn't of understood barking) that way, Sherlock would've known that Watson found the sock and he would've given credit to Watson instead of himself at 2:25. The mystery would've been solved faster if Watson picked up the sock with his mouth and brought it to Sherlock Hemlock.
If Sherlock Hemlock knows Maria, and if he lives on Sesame Street as a neighbor, I wonder why Maria was on a last name basis with Sherlock Hemlock calling him as Mr. Hemlock instead of Sherlock at 1:29 and 2:07.
It's amazing that they put Sherlock Hemlock on Sesame Street, even though they took him off Sesame Street in the year 2000. It's also nice to hear that Sherlock Hemlock was still being voiced by Jerry Nelson.
It's nice to see Vincent Twice here again even though it was mentioned that Vincent Twice was taken off Sesame Street in the year 1999. It's also nice to hear that Marty Robinson is voicing Vincent Twice. The only funny thing I noticed is that, it was funny having Vincent Twice here without showing the painted woman from the intro, and not having the wolf howling, thunder and lightening crashing, and the cat meowing just like in the intro but, it's nice they were having the same music.
Yes that would sound scary if they had a woman screaming but, the painted woman in the intro never screamed or made a noise (she was just a frozen quiet painting). I didn't mind seeing and hearing the thunder and lightning sounds in the Mysterious Theater intro. I was only just scared seeing the painted woman and hearing the sound of the wolf howling made me more scared while seeing the painted woman. (In the intro, I thought it looked scary how the woman was holding the rose up to her nose).
Yes you're right (my mistake). I remember from the "Classic Mystery Intro" clip of Masterpiece Theater, they had the painted woman moving her head and her right arm while drinking from the wine glass. (When I was younger, I thought that it was a lollipop that the woman had her tongue on, then when I was getting older, I thought she picked one rose next to the tombstone and was smelling it but now, I can see it clearly that it does look like a wine glass she's drinking from and not a rose).
It sure is. If that painted woman didn't keep her wine glass up to her mouth, I wouldn't of found her scary even if there was a wolf howling (to me, she looked scary with her wine glass in front of her mouth). Maybe if she was holding her wine glass out in front of her chest with painted words in front of her mouth saying something like, "Here's to my family member/friend who passed away", I probably wouldn't of found her scary.
The painted woman doesn't scare me anymore either because, if I know that Mysterious Theater is coming on as soon as a skit ends, I wouldn't get scared to see the painted woman. However, if a skit ended and Mysterious Theater came on without me knowing, I would get shaken up. Now I usually take a closer look at the painted woman and notice that she doesn't look too scary even though the look in her eyes is scary and the way she's holding her wine glass to her mouth.
Aha! I KNEW you'd find a copy of this street scene and post it up! After all, you're the king of Sesame Street's cultural segments ("Monsterpiece Theater," "Mysterious Theater," etc.) on this site!
I say, be careful there, that's a Ming Dynasty vase!

A-1 to that
I loved the thunder and howling winds...
Too bad they couldn't add a woman screaming. That would really add horror to the theme.

I was hoping I would get to see since I never got to see it on Sesame Street. I'm glad that it's posted on YouTube.
