Not exactly the typical phrasing,,, but the gist of it is very clear, and even quite interesting. Yes, they are kids, and they are doing very well, technically not too swell, but the variation they inadvertently produce are appealing enough.
My only hope is that this is not the culmination of their skills- but that they go on to personally interpret these movements, and make them their own.
Italian Baroque is easily performed, but mastery is a dozen levels away.
Give these children a break! Yes, it's not perfect. It's still exceptional.
Every player knows stringed instruments are frustrating to master, sometimes taking a lifetime to do so. I admire their devotion to their craft to to play to this level. The oldest is, what, 14?
I'm certainly inspired by their performance. Perhaps it will be better to pass a helpful critique and not one to simply make yourself seem more superior. That's not why they play and it certainly shouldn't be why you listen.
wow my high school orchestra is playin this for our winter conert and we sound wayyy better they dont have much balance other than the blance its ok ish

There will always be room for improvement, dis regardless of any performance level. Also, understand that this is a youth orchestra and that they are rated at different level.

Lol. Considering this piece is based on soloists/soli a conductor is not necessary.
As far as playing this piece, I think they've done an amazing job. We started to play this and it is hard once you start playing it fast. Okay! This is really frustrating me! It's called an orchestra of r a reason! What is with all these soloists?! Rate me down if you want! I just don't get it! The first violinst messed up her part in the second movement, but if they were doing it as a section it wouldn't have een so obvious. There are sections for a reason. It's not just a group of people playing different parts. It's a group of people playing as one. It's unfortunate that this orchestra can't fill the criteria...
I cannot help but comment on the irony in your statement, for: _concerto grosso_ and _solo concerto_ are not the same and should not be considered so rudely as merely _concertos_. That said, while the comment your are referencing may not have been polite, it is not necessarily in technical error--unless, of course, you have a copy of the score in or from Vivaldi's hand that forbids the use of more than one instrument for the part (acoustic requirements and available musicians do vary).
As a fourteen yr old musician I can tell you that one Vivaldi is very hard to play and before you go making judgements you have a go. And also a concerto is defined as a soloist or a group of soloists playing with an orchestral accompaniment so that is why there are soloists. And so if you are going to make comments like this you should at least look up what youre commenting about. Plus, if you were too lazy to do that you could at least post your comment more politely

It was good for your age, but in some places it was played sloppily(by the 1st violinist and others)

You guys are fantastic. My school orchestra and my county string orchestra sound no where near this good. Those players must have discipline.
Hats off to them all! Especially the soloists.

Ha, I love this piece. I played an arrangement of it for a bassoon duet, and it was amazing.

That is my favorite song to play!!! I LOVE Vivaldi stuff!!! This was an audition piece for an orchestra thing (I didn't make it :( My school's bass player got in though) and I just love to hear it.
