  • TOO MOCH TEXT IN THE BEGANNING

  • Coming from a fellow railfan, I understand what you're talking about, but seriously, this video is a waste of time.

  • im not trying to be mean but, seriously, 80% of this video could be edited out without harming its awesomeness, so to speak.

  • Why are there so many haters? If you do not like the video why even watch?

  • DONT WASTE YOUR FUCKIN TIME WITH THIS GARBAGE!!

  • What a waste of my time....Wait! Oh Wait somemore

  • My kind of railfan video. I've done this before with non rail videos, Once in a lifetime gone wrong for me. :) What you had was good IMO :)

  • WOW this was the dumbest vid ive ever had to watch!

  • LOL! I was totally expecting your camera to restart just in time to see the last car passing by. Murphey is definately a railfan.

  • i was hoping to see you get your arm chopped off or something. lame

  • that was about the dumbest video ever

  • Why even bother posting this video. It might work well as a sedative but it's crap for entertainment.

  • 45 secs of video, 4 mins of words on the screen... thanks

  • If you would just not put videos where you write and write and write but no videos show. I don't care if your bateries are dead, just don't waste my time.

  • @RonsTrainVideos: the people that disliked this vid felt bad for you and felt your pain

  • the best part is 5:07

    :-D

  • your video SUCKS!!

P.S. 1986 called, they want their opening credits back

  • I have had VERY similar days, and you're right about camera start-up taking 5 million years, lol!

    Happens to everyone.

  • As much as I love trains (I had a 25 year career as a brakeman/conductor) they could not pay me enough to be a dispatcher. That has to be the most hair pulling job on the railroad.

  • Funny video. I enjoyed it. I guess we all have one of those days from time to time. Thanks for sharing.

  • funney!

  • I skipped through most of this vid, Ive spent more time typing this than watching this lame video

  • I have had bad rail fan days, it sucks, my first time i ever rail fanned it was my first time using my sisters camra, i thought it was recording, but there was one button i forgot to press, so i missed most of the train. I was not at all happy. Slow days at the rail roads suck as well

  • i'l save 5 minutes of your life, skip to 5:07 for the best part

  • WOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!! worst 5 mins of my life.!.!

  • SICK OOOFFFF WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Heh, I've done this once or twice where everything seems to work against me getting any footage. Even had it happen once in Alaska, TOTALLY missed the entire train.

  • Show the movie and shut up... Damn you're boring...

  • How enthralling! You need to change the name of this video to "Five Minutes and Seven Seconds of Boring Stupidness". I thought I was going to get to see a car being obliterated by a train!

  • Railfanning FAIL... however video can be educational to others. Always ALWAYS have spare batteries and know where your stuff is ;)

  • No worries man, I've had similar fails. I waited all day for a freight train to go by on tracks that are used by mostly passenger trains, then once I gave up and left the freight finally came.

  • Did you go railfanning with a guy named Murphy? LOL. This is why I shoot videos with digital. Almost nothing can go wrong (well, except for dying batteries, full memory chips...............) :)

  • True, this can be considered a railfanning fail, but it is also a wagonfanning success!

  • NO worries Man it happends to the best of us.

  • ...

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fucking foamers.

  • Really reallly reallllllllly shitty video

  • This is mostly captions rather than video :(

  • This is what happens when sockpuppets get their first camera!

  • may have sucked but u did ur best, so i thumbed it up 4 u

  • So boooooring!!!

  • yeah ,thats why i want a Digital camcorder......tapes suck when the don`t work.

  • Sounds like some of my railfanning days. Dead camera batteries and gliches have always hounded me on nearly every railfan trip. I found out a Samsung camera is not railfan friendly. Scanners have never worked well for me, so I replaced them with Motorola 2 ways. A mobile two way in the pickup and a portable when elsewhere.

  • Hey, could be worse. In the 1970's a friend I waited at the east end of Tucson yard for hours. Nothing. OK, check out the west end. Nothing. Wait? Is that a headlight? Yes!! Down on the east end. Wait. Wait. WAIT.. Oh the heck with it, it's late, let's go home.

Train derailed, dumped a few covered hoppers all over where he had been parked all night ... at the east end of the yard. Wow. Glad we decided to move! And you know, we never did park quite in that same spot again.

  • Thanks for the video! it's good to laugh at the snowball effect AFTER it's over. I have had a few experiences like this.. Thanks.

  • Ok and NOT a waist of time

  • I'm sorry that the day went so bad for you. But you made a great video outta the mess. TY

  • Those auto racks near the end looked like they were rocking alot! I would have probably shit myself.

  • waste of time to watch

  • You´re some sort of bloke! Where is the point?

  • stupid

  • lol

  • 1 minute of video wrapped up in 4 minutes of pointless drivel...

  • God killed a Kitten while I watched this video.

  • @kaastle and you had to stay and watch instead of saving the poor kitten?

    For shame......

    For shame......

Anyway i liked it (except the part where it stuffed up badly) but these dicks are dicks

  • this fucking video is worthless. why did you even make it?

  • sounds like u got my luck man haha

  • Oh please don't (There's WAY to many people OUT THERE ... whom "says" they photograph trains & DON'T ... they ONLY take HALF on the leading set of locos... AND sometimes.. if a single loco - ONLY half of that .. A train...by it's very definition... IS THAT that is PULLED by the motive power...(locomotive) The train... IS that bit you took.. THANKYOU for showing me - YOUR train (to hell with half a loco)

  • Great Video. I can relate. Im at work and see a alot of rare action. but my camera is in the car......... back at the employee parking lot. I missed 4 trains in 15 minutes. An extremely rare shot of Amtrak on FEC Railway. No passenger train has been on there since '68. The owner vowed to never have another passenger train on his lines. BTW , it was only experimental train riden by the Governer of Florida. Great video. at least you have NS. they termnate in Jax, FL. 5 hrs away.

  • ppfffffff..hahhaahahahahahahah!

  • Why not go up to the train before it started moving and ask the engineer to hold up til you ran home to get the right equipment? :)

  • @lightrailbo hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha yep that'll work (not)

  • this was pretty stupid. you should have just thrown your scanner at the wall and saved us all our 5 minutes.

  • @whitemike265 Ah - I remember the days... NO RT (at all) ... Back in them days (LIVE_STEAM) ... any keen Railway kid.. ALWAYS had half an ear cocked to one side - (still do eh?) ... listening for the faintest "on_the_wind" whisper.. of distant toot of a train - leaving a station - miles away... ???

  • @whitemike265 was that a toot? was it - was it...? YEP Kuz thats the one for the road Xing... RUN ''''AROLD - "RUN"... scampering across the paddocks, (under) & over fences & hell - if looking sideways to see if you can beat the train .. half the time - YOU just ran straight through fences...(until the wires PINGED you back?sht)... Under or Over oops barbed wire.. stuck?

  • After wasting my time, there will not be a nextime. Bye, moron.

Fortunately I was cleaning the desk.

  • @egpg2000 was that a statement or ment to be offensive.... cause i have no time for trolling if you were

  • Phoamerz dont know what a problem looks like. I would not think twice on turning them in. A night in jail may change their attitudes.

  • shit luck. Ah well.

  • waste of 5 minutes

  • Well, you tried. Good effort & persistence.

  • I didn't even make it in 30 seconds...

  • That was stupid...Boring 5 mins and 6 seconds ever....DUMB!!!!!!!!!!

  • well some railroads like railfans. Matter of fact they want you to register and they send you a card. railfans spot problems with a train and can report it through a number on the card. I know one western railroad that does or did do that.

  • which western railroad is that

  • Foamer is derived from the word " Foamite" which is an acrynm for " feable minded, opinionated, arrogant, mentally incompetant, train enthusiast" Not all people who take video's and pictures of trains are foamers, It's the few that are that give the rest of them bad images. I've worked on the tracks for over 15 years and have seen both.

  • 5 stars anyway for your effort

  • There's like a whole underground world of you foamers isn't there?!

  • dragracer9088 > ".. you foamers .."

What the heck is a "foamer" and what makes you somehow different?

  • A foamer is somebody that foams at the mouth at the sight of a train. I am different in that I don't take pictures of trains, you take pictures of me when I am on the train running it across the road.

  • dragracer9088 > ".. foams at the mouth at the sight of train .. you take pictures of me .."

Actually, I rarely take photos of trains. However, don't see a reason for the negative characterization of those who do. No harm if done safely and one would think those employed by the industry would be flattered by the attention. Regardless, given trains are large, complex, machines, I understand the interest. Been meaning to photograph some of the unusual trains here to show others back in the USA.

  • I've railroaded 30 years and believe me, when I leave work I leave railroading behind (as much as my job in operations mgt lets me).

However, let me explain why many railroaders do not like railfans.

It's because 2 percent of it ruin it for the rest of you.

Trespassing. Bad mouthing. Second guessing. Look at half the posts in YouTube that trash this railroad or that without any actual awareness of the facts.

    It's sad, but unfortunately true.

  • graffiti is art!

  • Fucking foamers are worse than terrorists.

  • your mother giving birth to you is worse than terrorists.

  • At least she gave birth. You folks pulled you out of a bucket of infected piss. Now that makes you one nasty azzed foamer. LOL!! Only about 13,000 on furlough now. Maybe you can hire on in about 30 yrs there foamer boy. LOL!!

  • if i wanted to read fuking text id read a fuking poxy book you fuk wit

  • gee Ron you had a really bad day...one time i brought my video camera oh great here comes some NS dash 9s but wait theres a CEFX behind them START THE VEDEO CAMERA!!! and what do you know THE BATTERYS DEAD!!!!!

  • Grab the scanner.

  • oh ive been there before and missed photo opportunities of a many rare buses, Locomotive types and 2 burning cars. All i can say is, before leave that day, make sure your stuff is in order and always carry atleast 2 to 4 back up batteries. (i use rechargeable AA's)

  • NOW THATS a funny video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure glad it happen to you and not me. Again

Been There, Done That, Still Doing It.

  • Just had the WORST outing to altoona in HISTORY

Was finished videotaping a set of helpers coming into the engine house and right after i loaded a new casssete the camera said "Remove the cassette"

This was REALLY bad, the transport is now busted and

Couldn't tape anymore trains after the camera broke this past saturday.

We just had to leave horse shoe curve after seeing a monster train because i couldn't stand missing what i came to see in the first place, a huge train with pushers

  • haha i thought it was hilarious when i read it lol

  • i knw i was laughing at the part at the end with the twiching uncontrollably

  • lol haha that sucks though

  • There was a csx work train, and my batteries died and i quickly changed them and got ine of the engines. Also a train a signal was just sitting there, i went to go get some food fast, and as soon as i drive back it was gone

  • that was not your lucky day..

My worst day was when I waited an hour for a special train,When I was seeing it comming on,start the camera and enjoy, but the batterie was low,the video cut just before we can see the engines..

a CN a BNSF and a CP together, too much rare consist and I miss it!...

  • My railfan night mare was when GO Transit in Ontario opened their Richmond Hill line. They used steam locomotive 6060 for one of the trains, with free rides. I had an old 8mm wind up. No sound of course, but I rode up to Langstaff and grabbed the first bus south. Got to Bala sub mp 8.9 for a bridge shot, geot a beautiful shot. Check to see how much film I had...NONE!!! The perfect shot that never was.

  • haha reminds me of the time i tryed getting the Metro Norht train i took back from the city leaveing, had an almost dead battery and i knew it so im standing there video taping after 2 blast of the horn, and then waiting waiting waiting (1:40 later) give up and turn off, then THEN, up on the brigde train starts moving......camra no go on DAM IT! finaly turns on catch 1 second of the engine flying under the brigde, and didnt make it to the other side quick enough :\

  • Five minutes of my life I'm never going to get back.

  • And of course you had to waste even more of your precious time by typing a worthless comment!!

  • Nobody is going to buy your videos. Why do you even waste your/our time by advertising it. You just put alot of pre-shows on YOUTUBE and if your vids are like this, i'de rather not waste the money and sit there screaming and cussing at your lousy work.

  • @RonsTrainVideos oh, dont listen to him. he probably does nothing all day. He probably has no hobby. If his hobby is going on youtube and making fun of people, he can do that and waste his pathetic life. I know your comment is a year old, but oh well. =)

  • @RonsTrainVideos Yea.. Worthless comment on a worthless video.

  • @RonsTrainVideos

    good point

  • @RonsTrainVideos

that was not whorthless..its an advice for everyone else to NOT watch this video

  • @denelbh Your advice will be heeded. I HATE Spam Videos!

  • @RonsTrainVideos oooo steamted just got owned

  • @steamted Just "set" the alarm five minutes earlier tomorrow & bingo - there you are - all square (after all - no amount of sleep is gona get U any beauty .. as she'll walk right on past while U sleep)

  • @steamted yup

  • such a waste of time and your tried to hard to be funny bad kid

  • Real fannnning and allcohol doe noit mixxx.

  • looks like Southfolk if im right

  • Norfolk Southern.

  • Rail fanning gone wrong? That wasn't too bad. You got the head units, along withs some cars (and quite a few!). Not bad. How about that N.S.? If it makes you feel better, my camera doesn't even have audio. It just does the video. And yes, I've forgot my scanner a few times. Not a bad video.

  • Had that happen to me more than a few times, one time my friend (who was railfanning with me in Elkhart, Indiana)video-taped me just screaming "WHY?!!" after he got an awesome shot of a SP unit and, my camera's batteries had died when we recorded a previous train. So I feel your pain, it happens to us all. At least we can laugh about it at a later time.

  • LOL That must've been some video! It's fun to turn our frustrations into something all can enjoy.

  • wait where did it go wrong

  • Given that I sorta missed the entire first half of the train, you know, the part that contains the engines, I definitely consider it gone wrong! :)

  • Did a new crew ever arrive? I've witnessed a crew change twice; once near Solomon's gap at the double track, where a taxi arrived with the new crew and took the old crew. The second time was a big train with a D&H painted engine in the lead near Buttonwood. I was in the locomotive talking to the crew for a few minutes, their taxi arrived, and they just said goodbye and left with no replacement crew. I was left standing in a running D&H locomotive with no one around and no new crew.

  • Yea, while I was walking down to see if they ever connected the siding from nowhere to nowhere. I expected to hear them on the scanner and have plenty of time to get to a spot for taping.

  • Feel so sorry for you, man..............

THAT REALLY MUST HAVE BEEN A TEMPER TANDERUM!

  • Thanks, it gave me material for a crazy little video - so all was not lost! :)

  • wow i had somewhat of that same thing happen to me we went to go see a UP and here it comes turn camera on hit record no tape!!!!!

and it was an EX-SP too well at least my dad got a kick out of it

  • I've done something similar with digital stills. Turn on the camera, and find out the memory card is still in the reader!

  • i've been in that set of shoes before, man, are they painful! love the vids though, keep em' comin!

  • Thanks, I thought it would be fun to add a bit of train-related humor to the channel. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • I hate when that happens!

  • Yea, so do I! :) Thanks for commenting.

  • Lmao, poor Ron!

  • Yes, it was a very traumatic experience! :)

Fortunately I did manage to somewhat successfully video a train today, and it will be up later or tomorrow at the latest. So I'm recovering from my post-traumatic shock syndrome slowly but surely.

  • I'm in the emegency room recovering from a traumatic shock from my camera malfunction
