Isn't it wise to increase the speed of your apparatus, so it becomes more stable when going faster? Maybe you could also steer it using the shifting of weights.
@Delopolis Well, I'm that guy ;-) I'm not the best at hand-eye coordination, so yes, I'm "intense" when guiding several hundreds of dollars around... I was also running the camera (on a tripod) for part of it!
Odd, but interesting. Whatever gave you this idea? Must have taken a bit of careful soldering or welding to get the circle smooth enough for the little steam engine to run well enough. The out rigger bars was a good idea.
The idea came out of a discussion in a live steam forum The circle is made of 8 segments, each waterjet. The rails have notches into which the cross ties slot and then get welded. The segment are bolted together using special rail jointers (also water jet cut).

Yes, this is about it. The limitation is that the locomotive's wheels will start to slip as it tries to climb up the track when it enconters a tall obstacle...
Sweet! :D

there is no hamster so why does it say it in the title dummie?
ilyA7x 3 years ago
Okay, YOU'RE the dummy. Read the description, stupid - "This is a WHEEL-SHAPED TRACK". It means it's shaped like a hamster's wheel.
girll1 3 years ago 12
@ilyA7x Well, several people said it reminded them of an actual hamster wheel and the name stuck.

Oh my, did you really expect to see a hamster (like me)! It's the wheel itself being referred to as a "hamster wheel". Good work Mr. Wegmuller!
