Latino is a term the U.S came up with to identify Latin American people in the census. We're the only group in the census that isn't a race. There's Latino, White (non-hispanic), Native American (non-hispanic) etc etc. We're a multicultural people, we have Blacks, Whites, Native Americans and a mix of all 3. Most Latinos have significant "white" heritage.

Our people have a alot of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and even German blood- where do you think the Nazis went after WW2? Her mother is of Creole descendant and I can't get into the specifics but in Lousiana U.S.A. are mostly were the Creoles in this country are from. So the Latin Europeans "Spanish and French" settled in Lousiana. You never know she may have Spanish blood in her as well.

Yes, I am definitely white. My ancestors came from central Europe, but I have not been to that continent at all. Therefore, I see very little reason to ever call myself European-American. I just say that I am American. My cotton-white complexion will be obvious to others. A person who came here from Norway might have a different perspective.

True Spanish is clearly white just like true English is white. True Latin comes from Italy. Italy! Imagine that! It denies the "native" heritage of the people whom explorers found centuries ago.
In most cases, "Latina" would describe an "Indian" woman who learned the colonial tongue of Spanish (actually it is Castillian) and adopted traditions from Spain. This would include the Catholic religion. Otherwise, why would a "Latina" not be a white girl?
