  • Did you ever figure out what it was? My E38 is making a similar noise, and the consensus is Vanos. I put up a video of it.

  • @shummpp i changed the timing chain and it resolved some of the noise, im now about to try Auto-RX to hopefully get rid of the tappet noise, on failing that ill try a thinner oil in 1.5k miles
