First album was soooo good, was listening to an interview with Tony Kakko and he was saying the reason they moved away from that first album style is a rather obvious reason, it had too many layers, particularly vocal layers and so performing it live was very difficult. Understandable, but it was still badass :P

A lot of Sonata being so great live is the fact they actually do some improvisation. The solo's on this much better than the original. (also helps that henrick>tony as far as keys go)

The best thing about this live DVD is fact, that songs differ a bit from album versions. A little bit different arrangements, Tony changes some mellodies, Jani improvises and makes a few mistakes. It all makes it so beautiful.

Jani era un pilar esencial en Sonata Arctica que hacía que con sus solos me sintiera bien, ahora sin él, es diferente (los últimos dos álbumes, en mi opinión si no hubiera habido problemas con Jani (Unia) y si estuviera (The Days Of Grays) hubieran seguido la línea de la música de Sonata Arctica: Tallulah, Kingdom For A Heart, Replica, Fullmoon, The Gun, Peacemaker...

Jani era parte vital de la banda, pero por sus problemitas con la justicia no podía salir a hacer giras ni nada... eso es un freno muy grande si eres una banda en crecimiento como ellos... Pienso que como Jani ninguno, pero Elias tampoco lo hace mal... es un guitarrista excelente y me gusta la evolución que han tenido y el gran trabajo vocal en The Days Of Grays es muestra de eso :)
