  • I've used this camera on a deployment to AFG and it held up pretty well. Its a nice and easy to use sturdy body. But I really want to try the Nikon D700 next.

  • Obviously a nikon fanboy.

  • You were waiting 3 years for it? That'll teach you to try and buy cheap stuff from Hong Kong.

  • I don't know which accent this guy is talking with, sounds like Pet Shop Boys.

  • does the camera body waterproof ?? like under raining or humidity weather ?

  • @elivegansan there's no doubt that this gap concerning simply semi expert and expert is small nowadays. d7000 is all many of us want. visit... freedslr . cong change cong with com and get the chance to win a new Nikon D7000

  • Sorry Nikon boy - to say that the HD mode is still useable and to compare it to the poor (almost none HD) HD from a Nikon D90 makes no sense. The 5d MK2has set a whole new industry - just look around you. The D90 is now forgotten. It took Nikon 2 tries to catch up. Check out REV DIGITAL videos if your still uncertain of the impact of the 5d MK2.

  • OK Nikon boy!

We know its not a Nikon D3 but its well under half the cost....

It's only now that Nikon have managed to catch up with the full HD video mode and Canon have already moved forward..

The 5d MK3 (due 2011) will move the market forward yet again.

  • the word is "function" NOT "functionality" ! Another Americanism

  • This guy keeps saying Nikon after every point he makes. He's the wrong guy for this review cos he's obviously bias!

  • @plisskenetic Actualy he;s a Canon user and this video was filmed on a Canon.

  • @plisskenetic Actually he's a Canon user and this video was filmed on a Canon.

  • @plisskenetic Are you kidding? The only Nikon reference he made was when he was comparing the ISO noise to the D3 and D700. If anything you sound more biased.

  • Matt:

Can you tell me how to set the 5D Mark II ISO below 200 and Auto? My camera does not give me the option to go below 200 or Auto.

    Thanks

    Julio

  • @julioleitao Make sure the highlight tone priority is off, then select the expanded ISO in the Custom functions and turn it on, make sure your shooting a manual

  • Can it shoot 720p?

  • only 25 minutes for video? what if you get a bigger memory card or....... i don't know what i'm saying but: is it possible to extend the video time in any way?

  • @lukeisastalker

No. It deliberately kept to that so it is classified as a digital stills camera for customs and import purposes. If the video clips are longer it would be classified as a video camera and subject to import duty, which would add to the cost. Strangely, digital still cameras are not subject to import duty, but video cameras are.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera what do u mean only 25 min? put a 16gig in there and ur good to go for 48 min

  • @WhatDigitalCamera i beilieve they ahve changed that with new firmware

  • Comment removed

  • i really want this camera for the video mode! so so so so much!

  • I wish it didn't have the video for a lower price.

  • great video ....

  • yes pixel count that high is for larger prints and press/commercial work, also megapixels really dont matter if u buy a super crappy lens for ur camera body its all matter of opinion but if ur only doing 8x10 or lower 10 megapixels is more than enough

  • @bentcoin1

It comes with L lens, wat the hell do u mean by SUPER CRAPPY??? And the megapixels is ONE of the contributing factors to a great great image... A small mega pixel for fullframe is STUPID!! It's like getting a Ferrari and you dont have mileage or good tyres so what's the point?!

  • nikon 700 only 12MGpixels :-P

  • Most of the time MP's doesn't matter as much.

They basically, in laymans terms determine how big the picture will be. (2304x3456, 4256X2837, 5616X3744, etc)

You can buy cameras with 40, 50, 60 megapixels.. But you and most other people don't need it. Why?

Because you're not going to be using that camera for outputs of 5... 6ft.

So It doesn't matter. Now if you are lets say, going to be shooting for advertising or something and need to print out 4ft posters for a client, then yes.

  • When zoming on computer with 50mm lens you can see clear car registration tablet on great distance. You can`t see same with 12mpx like NIKON D700.

  • As for the "50mm lens" that you cant see the registration blah blah blah.

    Well of course!

You're talking about a 21mp image vs 12. So you're getting a much larger picture so even if you zoom into 100% on the picture it's going to appear larger and have more detail.

i hope that makes sense.. :D

  • @AvisSpes.

So MP's Does matter. For almost same money you can see more.12mp D700 vs 5D mk2.I always like more then less.

    Regard B

  • billboards and busses were printed also with digital cameras long before 24 MPX so pixels really don't matter

  • You do realize that there were medium format cameras right and all those billboards and busses were made from medium/large format cameras.

And the equivalent of that is like 50, 60+ mp

Speaking about megapixels, did you know the human eye is roughly 74 megapixles.

  • duh, I'm just trying to say that even low pixel count can look good, my friend made some ads for the billboards and he was using low pixel count dslr (back in the days) and everything looked pretty decent.

  • that's why it's way better then 5dmk2

  • The 5D Mark II does feature AF during recording. It's the same contrast-detect system that you can use during live view.
