  • The Phoenix, about 1989 - 1990, i think. I could dance to this all the way through. Happy days, Im 40 now, and would probably need an ambulance after a few seconds. I long for those days back, dont wish time away, enjoy every second...

  • My mates were talking about Northern Soul, they're a little younger than me & missed out on the era so I just had to post this to Facebook to give them a little training into the greatest dance movement the UK has ever seen. Wigan Casino was Mecca to us!!!

  • cracking sound guaranteed to ram the floor.sure i heard this before kev bought it back from the states in 76,i may be wrong though???.

    pete from hemel

  • I doubt it was played in the UK before then, as they were initially very hard to get (on the US Fusion label). Of course, it got in the pop charts following it's UK release, so was being played all over the place. I even heard it at a disco in Ostend once!

  • Is the otherside of this 45 on you tube? Life is a song worth singing, instrumental!

  • Got to be one of the greatest instrumentals of all time. Just fantastic.

  • What a perfect estereo reproduction of this eleectric Casinos!

    Congratulations!

    ktf (and shake!)

  • I used to jam to this at Western Star Yoof club in Priestgate, Peterborough.

    As above states... Stomping Ch00n

  • Initially brought back from the States in 1976 by Kev Roberts and... yes, another big Blackpool Mecca record, eventually appropriated by that lesser venue at Station Road! LOL

  • Reminds me of the Blackburn boys dancing to it on the pier at Cleethorpes and the floor bouncing like the Ritz floor. Happy memories of bouncy wooden dance floors and sweaty boys x

  • Stomping sound that still sounds refreshing today

  • when Wigan casino died, so did an entire generation.

I'm now 42 and live in Australia, but I still own a Vespa.

They destroyed the casino, but Northern soul lives on!!!

  • THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS

  • The Murderer was the same bloke that started it...........He opened the doors to the TV cameras and that was the begining of the end

  • @PembrokeRoadN15 You were 13 when they closed Wigan casino . How many wild nights did you have there ?

  • @rollindanny57 I thought that too!

  • @PembrokeRoadN15

52 years old and there is STILL some soul left in these old shoes!

  • @PembrokeRoadN15 You know that Northern Soul lives big time in Perth Australia and links to all city venues.. go ww.Perthsoul.
