Well, for starters, we don't want them to join because of the explosion of moral conduct waivers. This is not an organization that should be an alternative to jail. This is how people like Steven Dale Green get in. The U.S. Army needs too many kids because the U.S. Army has way too many bases to staff, with way more money going to defense contractors and not nearly enough going into soldiers living conditions and safety equipment. I agree that the war was unecessary but then again the US couldn't just leave Iraq after they had invaded especially in the state it was in in 2006. I don't support the reasons for going to war and am against have the war being waged to begin with but I'm also convinced and remain fixed in my belief that if the US had withdrawn anytime before and during the surge strategy that Iraq would have just fallen into a full blown civilwar vs. the low intensity civil war it was experiencing.
It's likely that the civil war would've been worse without U.S. troops acting as security, but it's THEIR civil war. Not ours. I've heard all the redderick about our withdrawl leading to a stronger terrorist threat, and I don't buy it. I'm also very disturbed that Obama wishes to strengthen our presence in the middle east at the cost of American lives.

Even after this, I think we could wash our hands of it. How can a country in turmoil, with very little stability and no capital, make an effective strike on American soil after 9/11? It's improbable (whether true or not) that Al Quaeda could have in the FIRST place. To be able to would prove the incompetence of U.S.A.
There were a lot of mistakes in terms of the disassembling of the Iraqi government, that much is true, AQI first stone of 2006 is basically what started the shia/sunni civil war around the baghdad area. I disagree that we could wash our hands of it. AQI doesn't require a government or a stable nation in order to carry out attacks, look at what AQI did to the country of jordan, they were already planning and executing attacks abroad during the worst years of violence in Iraq.
Even if america wasn't the targets for those attacks by AQI, all those bombings that would orignate from AQI in Iraq would be blamed on the US for just leaving allowing AQI this power vacuum for them to move into and exploit it to attack their nations. The theory of arabs in the middleeast was that the US was purposely trying to split up Iraq and destabalize the region, if the US would have just washed their hands of this and it happend, we would have just confirmed their theory.
Considering it was just starting to happen with AQI attacking jordan and having plans for saudi arabia, you can pretty much say the middle east would be a powder keg waiting to explode. I don't like the Iraq war but I don't believe that a withdrawal before and during the surge would have helped. I believe with the current success the US and Iraq has had with reducing violence is now the time to start talking about withdrawal, which we have already done. Iraq is coming to an end.

Video games are a huge influence on teens. I started with Halo, then CoD4, and now I know a lot more about guns...and thanks to CoD4 I learned more about the Military. Then I decided I'll be joining the Army Reserve in 2 years.

Well, for starters, we don't want them to join because of the explosion of moral conduct waivers. This is not an organization that should be an alternative to jail. This is how people like Steven Dale Green get in. The U.S. Army needs too many kids because the U.S. Army has way too many bases to staff, with way more money going to defense contractors and not nearly enough going into soldiers living conditions and safety equipment. Cammmo, I see your point, I support your group aswell, The Army should be truthful to potential recruits and not make promises they can't make (Sounds like my Station Commander) And don't get me started on equipment, when I got to Iraq, we had to borrow magazines, optics, and even had to ride in ISF vehicles to get around on Patrols and to get from FOB to FOB because of shortages. I agree that the war was unecessary but then again the US couldn't just leave Iraq after they had invaded especially in the state it was in in 2006. I don't support the reasons for going to war and am against have the war being waged to begin with but I'm also convinced and remain fixed in my belief that if the US had withdrawn anytime before and during the surge strategy that Iraq would have just fallen into a full blown civilwar vs. the low intensity civil war it was experiencing.

It may have been Al Quaeda that threw the first stone, but I do not believe we helped in any way by disassembling their government. This only exacerbated the problem. Even after this, I think we could wash our hands of it. How can a country in turmoil, with very little stability and no capital, make an effective strike on American soil after 9/11? It's improbable (whether true or not) that Al Quaeda could have in the FIRST place. To be able to would prove the incompetence of U.S.A.

There were a lot of mistakes in terms of the disassembling of the Iraqi government, that much is true, AQI first stone of 2006 is basically what started the shia/sunni civil war around the baghdad area. I disagree that we could wash our hands of it. AQI doesn't require a government or a stable nation in order to carry out attacks, look at what AQI did to the country of jordan, they were already planning and executing attacks abroad during the worst years of violence in Iraq.

Even if america wasn't the targets for those attacks by AQI, all those bombings that would orignate from AQI in Iraq would be blamed on the US for just leaving allowing AQI this power vacuum for them to move into and exploit it to attack their nations. The theory of arabs in the middleeast was that the US was purposely trying to split up Iraq and destabalize the region, if the US would have just washed their hands of this and it happend, we would have just confirmed their theory.

Considering it was just starting to happen with AQI attacking jordan and having plans for saudi arabia, you can pretty much say the middle east would be a powder keg waiting to explode. I don't like the Iraq war but I don't believe that a withdrawal before and during the surge would have helped. I believe with the current success the US and Iraq has had with reducing violence is now the time to start talking about withdrawal, which we have already done. Iraq is coming to an end.

Video games are a huge influence on teens. I started with Halo, then CoD4, and now I know a lot more about guns...and thanks to CoD4 I learned more about the Military. Then I decided I'll be joining the Army Reserve in 2 years.

If a recruiter harrases you, tell him that when you take the ASVAB, you want Option #8. Option #8 means only trade schools and colleges can look at your ASVAB scores, NOT the Army! You'll see what kind of a "freind" he is after that.
