  • pps Imperial is even better ;)

  • lol Fourier transforms were easy! maybe not to engineers ... ;)

  • I can't get this melody out of my head...

  • Are they drunk!

  • P.S. Cambridge is better!

  • This video is so bad, it's good.

  • lol

  • Central Nerd Agency

  • Most idiotic video I have ever seen! Not only from a music, video and creative point of view, but also from the point of view of mathematics. I will make just one point on mathematics: time-frequency is being hammered again anad again. If that is always true then explain the reciprocity: FFf(t) = f(-t).

  • lool

  • Awesome! You have the courage, now get the degree!

  • Wow. You losers.

  • Oh good grief I'm never going to be able to look Basil in the eye ever again!

  • why is the man speaking in greek in the beginning???

  • Because the girls says something like, Fourier transforms sound like greek, meaning its difficult to understand, see?

  • oh! ok, i didn't notice that!

  • really great idea!

a pity that tha quality is that bad :(.

  • this is the biggest nerd video i have seen ever!

  • which uni were/are you guys at?

  • I'm guessing oxford. Well it's certainly a good learning method.

  • 0:10 :P

  • panagia mou 0:11... eine poli simantiko thema!!!

  • Hehe, the first Sethares cover on Youtube, nice :P

  • Final Chorus:

From time to frequency, from frequency to time... all these fucking nerds should shut up or die xDDDD

Well, I was joking but.... at least sing a little better!!!

  • Cute :)

  • This is the epitome of nerdiness.

  • I totally agree!

  • from time into frequency

    from frequency to time

gosh it's stuck in my head.

  • this is soo estimulating =)

    thank you guys

  • Use a microphone :P

  • You're the best :)

  • yo shut up now i know how to fourier transform

  • Just goes to prove the well recognized and irrefutable fact that science majors have no soul..

  • Hope you write your formulas more accurately than your spelling.

At 2:04, it should be "multiply", not "mulitply".

Otherwise, an entertaining, fun little video.

  • best video ever!

  • time to frecuency ....to time ,,,,,... mmjumjuumju

  • You believe or not, tomorrow I have my LAST exam in information engeneering... and I'm studying Fourier right now!!! I needed to relax a while, and I found this!!!

    sooo coool!!! :D

anyway... Fourier Transform doesn't seem so easy to me (it's a math exam):S

bye, I come back to our loved/hated Fourier!

  • Yasmine, will you marry me?

  • hey this is so cool...is the original song availble anywhere??and do u hav the lyrics other than wat appears in the song...

  • @laks316 original song is by william sethares from University of Wisconsin Madison. He is a professor in ECE department, specializing in signals and system.

  • @laks316 I cannot post the link to Sethares' website. But if you search on google for fourier song you will get to his website.

  • cool

  • I wish this is what they made me do in school...

  • what a waste of time

  • or frequency?

    or frequency or time..

  • don't you think the only idiot here is you?

  • without the transform, half your electronics won't be as good, dumbass

  • Engineers are lazy. I'm a physicists. All engineers do is ride off the achievements of us physicist. :P

  • You do the work, we rule the world

    ERTW.

  • Engineers are too lazy to rule the world.

  • hit up acronym finder, ERTW, I don't make the rules.

  • It's not possible because engineers are just too lazy.

  • Like I said, I don't make the rules.

  • It's not even a rule. Engineers wouldn't even be able to rule the world if someone handed the reins over to them, because they're just too lazy.

  • Am I the exception? I mean, I'm not lazy enough to log-in and argue? "Drink rum, drink rum, drink rum and come along with us for we don't give a damn for any man who don't give a damn for us."

  • Very lazy indeed.

  • You're lucky. I just had a Tim Horton's Coffee.

  • SpazzDog, as you've realised physics is a mug's game! Take your skills and join a hedge fund ASAP!

  • wtf are you talking about? Physics is the foundation of the physical sciences.

  • Yeah. But the pay is crap. (At least in the UK anyway. Things might be better overseas, but physics really sucks here.) :-(

  • The $\frac{1}{2 \pi}$ is lost in the first formulae pair Transform-Integral

  • Well there are a few ways of defining it.

I wouldn't be suprised if engineers don't need to care about the constants. Unless I've gone mad the lack of constants should just bugger the amplitude when transforming back and forth.

  • Perceptionally nice. Asian girl, very cute ;-)

  • Did y'all know the boy in this video died in a cycling accident this year? Very sad.

  • Yeh it was Greek at the beginning and regarding the 1/(2*pi) - its sometimes omitted in the old textbooks, and since its constant, (as engineers) it doesn't matter :P

  • btw check the convolution video i have uploaded cheers mates!!

  • 1337 man 1337! Was that Greek in the beginning or is was my idea???? 5/5 btw

  • its pronounced foo-yay...

  • cool

  • What an absolute shocker! You missed the factor of 1/(2*pi) in the inverse Transform equation at 8 sec. :-)

  • oi all u engineers getting all big headed about u being the only ones to understand it

    HELLO PHYSISITS GET IT

just to remind u all, engineers are just physics ofcuts

    we r the real bods

    lol :o) x x x

  • yaaaaaaay! Great engineering Stuff, no one else understands! We are so elite!

  • great song!

"And to differentiate, here's a simple trick

Just multiply by J omega, ain't that slick?"

(I've never thought of singing this phrase out loud, but i just did)

  • AHAHAHA great song, though only engineers will get it :P

  • hahahaha i cant belive there is actually a song about Fourier Transforms and that people would be willing to appear in a video singing and dancing about Fourier Transforms hahaha this is too much. Very funny and well done. An I suppose there was at least one "trick" that i hadnt hear about, so it served its purpose. Nice! LOL!

  • cool lyrics :D time to frequency , frequency to time!!

    an italian engineer

  • the sound of the music is kind of odd.. but the lyrics and the perfomancers are great

did you eliminate some of the fourier components of the sound to make the video smaller ? =]
