Hey, I'm going to have a similar fish setup as you except with oto catfish and it'll be a 40 gallon tank, but what kind of filter do you recommend I don't care a about noise but I do care if the water is really rough and it has to be able to filter pretty well also
@dinomarino666 i use the marineland emperor filter 400 gph model and another walmart brand filter, for a 40 gallon i believe a 280 gph model would be sufficient as long as you dont have a ton of fish. i have a 37 gallon tank as well so i would know...
barbs and some times tetras tend to fin nip, I keep my bettas with platies cory cats and african dwarf frogs, but if you can make it work more power to ya
@whiteboypatrickkelly Again fin nipping isnt a big deal if you lots of plants a big tank and also depends on your fishes personality. My mate has a big 100 gallon tank with two male bettas in there and they dont fight unless one of them goes onto other side of tank.
Beautiful plants are they real? I have been having snails and they all ate my plants, which stressed my fish out so I had to buy some fake ones... lol
Those bettas look awesome! Such beautiful colours! And all your plants look great too! Do you inject co2 into the water? And what kind of light do you have?
I got a question i just started a 55g it was a tank for turtles and i cleaned it and put a plant grow light on it and black sand plant mix on the bottom and i have some swords and i put three small drift wood logs in there i really have no idea how to stock it the sand is established it was in a 55g for over 2yrs and i got it from a friend i really have no clue what to do now any ideas ?? Thanks and amazing tank btw
do you mean stock it with fish or plants? i'f advise that you add fish 3-4 days after you set up your tank. Usually a tank that is newly set up will be very cloudy, this is a bacteria boom and it is good so don't worry. by the 4th day the tank should clear up and you can start to add fish. add 2-5 fish every 2 weeks DO NOT add 20 fish at a time you will see them die 1 by 1. Your first fish should be hardy fish, like cory cats, barbs, and certain tetras.
Also if some of your fish catch diseases, i really don't advise that you buy medicine to treat them unless the fish are very expensive. None of the fish in my tanks are over $3. It sounds cruel, but for a tank that size you will need a large dose of medicine to treat the whole tank. You will be doing more harm then good especially on a newly set up tank. When you go to the pet store, check their tanks for diseases, large chain stores like petsmart and petco are notorious diseases.
