Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.
The fact first Castlevania game was released in 1986 doesn't mean Lords of Shadows can't be a rip off in terms of gameplay.
This whip attack surely looks very similar to the one Kratos does using his chained swords, and the whole gameplay very much reminds of GoW.
And I found Lords of Shadows to be a boring game, I enjoyed Symphony of the Night much more than any other Castlevania game, to me they kinda ruined the series.

castlevania has Dracula, a vampire yeah, then they have a bunch of research over demons and monster from many mythologies, or cultures... :P, I like greek mythology, but you won`t debate on this..., another good thing to mention is that castlevania`s gameplay hasn`t been that great, because it was based on 2D platforms, for most of its releases, then they moved on 3D, and now have finally made a decent 3D, GOD, never had to do such transition, GOD simply is what it is, from the very beginning

God of War didn't create the Hack and Slash genre, but they certainly influenced its future and helped to pioneer it. I'm sorry, but you're really naive if you think that this game doesn't borrow a lot of elements from God of War in particular. Sure, it looks fun and I'll be buying it regardless, but you can't deny the similarities. It's not like this game has lots of DMC or NG traits, it's all GoW man. It's like Dante's Inferno all over again.

JESUS CHRIST LEARN YOUR FACTS. Castlevania has been an institution for exactely 23 years now, whereas GoW? Yeah, cute, but not really memorable. A few good ideas left and right, a main character that tried too damn hard to be badass and... oh. Nothing. i am pretty sure GOW is a Castlevainia evolution. seriously, swords on chains seems strikingly similar to the whips and ball and chains that Belmont used. Just because GOW ripped off Castlevainia's obvious next evolutionary phase doesn't mean that Castlevainia can't go where it was already going. PS: I can't imagine any old school gamer playing GOW for the first time and not seeing the similarities between the two games. The whiners, I assume, are the youngins who just weren't there

I know the people says that Castlevania is long before God Of War. But look at the game style, It's total ripoff, I'm not talking about gamestory. I'm talking about gameplay. Look at the health bar. Look at the grap attacks, look at the jump attack. Everything was copied from GOW gameplay. Same thing with Dante's Inferno. I mean, I would still get this game and enjoy it. I'm just saying. Games like these started taking the style after God Of War.

Everyone who keeps saying that this game is a ripoff of God of War are ignorant. The Castlevania franchise has been around for about 25 years, and saying that the combat engine is God of War, Devil May Cry is untrue. Every long-running franchise games go through changes, and it doesn't mean they're ripping someone else off. It's all Castlevania through and through, but in the 21st century.

I played the game for 24 years since 86' and this game pushed me to HATE KONAMI even more ,for their stupid ideas, and the game have NO music for the old games, and the game is more of greek, and as a HUGE HUGE KONAMI fan ? God of War didn't create the Hack and Slash genre, but they certainly influenced its future and helped to pioneer it. I'm sorry, but you're really naive if you think that this game doesn't borrow a lot of elements from God of War in particular. Sure, it looks fun and I'll be buying it regardless, but you can't deny the similarities. It's not like this game has lots of DMC or NG traits, it's all GoW man. It's like Dante's Inferno all over again.

@UtsusuZero first im not a kid...second the games most of them are pure art, and im kind an artist so i love to see what i like...for a 3d whip you can do it like in indiana jones for psp (very nice one!) but much better moves and quallity, maybe more direct atack, not so "rodeo cowboy"...and for sure dont make it shine like if its on fire...but thats my taste, i don need to be right...but yea! god of war, dantes inferno, castelvania...all the same and is not genre...its copy
