@Maniplokius Obviously its going to hurt if it bites you, But depending on how much it hurts depends on you, and your tolerance to pain. This snake does not carry venom, Please dont get one yet, DO YOUR RESEARCH wait a month longer make sure you have everything set up. And no you cant feed them only on eggs it is fattening, if you cant get frozen mice then im sorry go for something like a garter that feeds off crickets. Again make sure you now everything about the snake before you get it bye
@Maniplokius Probably as a treat, But im still not sure. And if its true youd need to warm it, So it gives of warmth so the snake thinks its alive, but the problem with feeding it peices of chicken is it doesnt look alive.
Just try and find a place with frozen mice, id get pinkies and cut them in half for a young snake.
5* or the vid man ! i have a Q though i might b e getting one of these soon and iv'e looked but there arent many good informative sites but how much do they eat a week (i'll be getting an adult) and how long after feeding one can i handle it again?
He's a beautiful snake! We have a milk snake called Sid...he's only a baby and very pretty. They like to eat, don't they?! Sid hasn't ever turned down food... : )
i just got mine! but does anyone know how to kill rmilk snake odors, and please a feeding how to for milks. thanks, cuz i pretty much know what to do its just, im going to feed him thursday
The odor can probably be stopped by purchasing an electronic air freshner. For how to feed you milksnake, all I do is place the f/t mouse in his cage and leave it there and he takes it. I dont dangle it, I just leave it in the cage and in the morning it's gone. If you want to see a video of it you'll have to wait till next Monday cause I just fed him yesturday.
Well I got my milksnake at a reptile expo. The snake was $65, the cage was $60, the water bowl was $5, and the hides I made myself and the aspen bedding I had so in total it equals $130.
Basically the same setup. I would use a smaller tank like a 5 or 10 gallon for a little while. When it gets a little bigger, then move it in to a larger enclosure Use the same things I used in this care video. For bedding, you can use newspaper or aspen.
my honduran was the last i handled him which was a couple of days ago he was really god and calm no shitting or biteing like he allways does he still was thrashing about cause its his nature to so it made it quite hard to handle him but he calmed and relaxed in my hands was great hopeing in the near future to i hope breed him to a anery or bio coloured female honduran
yeah i'll post a vid if it happens at the the moment my milk snake only a 4 months old hopefully once i move out in a couple of years i will by a female honduran anery or bio colour and breed her with my honduran
awsome snake mate and some useful tips i keep a tangerine honduran milk snake he flighty but he calmed down very he bitten me and pooded on me not to plesent but some milks are like that i'm subing
Yeah thanks, most milks are like that when you first get them, but if you hold them often, they calm down and get used to you. But they are never really "calm". The only time mine has been still is when I took him out in the sun, he loved it and was basking on my hand like a python! lol

The water in the dish seems fine. Preferably you want enough water in the dish for the snake to bathe in if it wishes.

Adults can eat one adult mouse per week. I usually give my snakes 48 hours to digest the meal, and then I'm free to handle them.

Milk snakes are definatly cannibalistic because they are in the same family as kings.
ChronicBudInc 2 years ago
I would keep them seperate to be safe.
Reptileguy92 3 years ago
Yo shouldn't really keep 2 snakes in the same cage either. Like some snakes are fine with it, and others are cannibalistic.

i have a oreo pebueblan milksnake he/she is alsovery active but still from a breeder so i guss it depends on the individual snake
anarchistlyfe 3 years ago
hey just to correct u milk snakes are actually very docile if bought from a store that breed them its different if got from the wild
silverkripto 3 years ago
I bought mine from a breeder. He wasn't wild caught.
Reptileguy92 3 years ago
as babys they are nuts. but if you handle it a good amount it should really calm down. they also calm down with age. even the wild caught.
