@fenix478 My favorite Qotsa song as well. Always has been, so far will stay the same. Something powerful in it, with the lyrics and groove and instruments just flow together.
I saw them on this tour. It was a good show, but I do sort of miss Nick on bass. I know he's supposed to be a douchebag or whatever, but I loved his antics as well as his playing. I generally prefer the older incarnations of QotsA, but this version of the band is kickass too.
seeing these guys in may, think i will die from either earfuckage or just the fact i will be seeing queens of the stone age live playing the 1998 album.....i think i need my hand holding 0_o
@Ioskar095 Yer not gonna start going on about how Dave is a better drummer than Joey too, are you? Cuz nobody cares. beyond josh, the lineup is always gonna be fluid. this isn't a bad thing
@mantatnam They also sped songs up live when Dave was with them. Hell they even sped up songs live when Alfernando was with them. So shut the fuck up and enjoy the music
When I hear music from QOTSA, I get a creepy, yet rebellious feeling. Can't really explain it. I think Josh is the kind of guy that is reserved, but he would definitely stick a bitch with a rusty screw driver and then eat a fuck load of peyote and get lost in the desert for a few days, leaving his band mates to wonder where he is, and finding the dead body.
hell yeah this song kicks so much ass!! And Josh is the MAN... I saw Them Crooked Vultures, but I can't wait to see QOTSA!! As soon as they go on tour again, I'm definitely seeing them!! (and I hope they play this song) <3
@nirewolf0 For real man! Luckily they are touring again; unfortunately the only show they are doing in the states before they go to Europe is in L.A. so if I want to see them then I'm going to have to drive there from Oakland. I'm dieing to see them live for the first time and I'm still beating my self up for missing them when they played in my area.
And the guitar josh is playing is a much nicer guitar than his gp's. Plus, he captures much of the same sounds as his GP's live using different guitars.
Maybe its just me...but in many of the Mexicola live videos you can hear Nick fuck up the intro. Misses a beat in the same spot every time...but sometimes he doesn't. Thats all i have to say about that. Tho mikey does change up the intro a bit.
@BoothJudas but remember on the original cd version if your talking about the second octave of c mikey plays at 0:41secs, just before the ascent it doesnt have that note on the cd version. if u know what bit im talking about??
@JHo4God I know what your talkin aboot. But I have to apologize. When I made this comment I was thinking about the bass solo in No One Knows...sometimes nick gets sometimes it just that wee bit fucked up. regardless I dig nick's style. Mikey does it justice without sounding exactly the same. win. win.
do you reckon god gave josh ginger hair just to level out with the fact that he's fucking huge and hench as fuck? I'd love to see someone rip on his hair. i personally don't have the balls.
It's really not a big difference in speed either way. But I can admit at times they do play some songs TOO fast live, like avon and no one knows. They don't do it all the time but a few shows Ive seen them go a bit over the top
Sorry i just love this song and i think it sounds better slower than they usually play it im not putting it down this version rules Get over yourselves
I've been a Queens fan for a LONG TIME and I love Nick Oliveri and his contributions to the band. That said, I am a big Mikey Shoes fan, as well. I can't wait to here his contributions to the next album!
Why did they kick nick out? i never found out. I heard stuff like he beat his wife or something and I have seen him get naked, but that wouldn't be a reson to kick someone out of band would it? i would encourage that kind of behavior.
yep, sounds like butter...I love all qotsa but I'd sacrifice a nut to jam with em some of the old stuff, so relaxed and fluid...check the smile on Josh just after the verse riff kicks in, I'd be grinning too
Man i love that bass, or more specifically, the bass work on the first album, it's so much heavier and distorted than now, but it's all good, cause it's all Homme, and it's all Queens!

I think people will hate anyone that's not Dave Grohl in this band. Quite possibly since Songs for the Deaf rocketed QotSA to a higher stardom then where they once were. I love Dave, but people need to realize he was just a temp. person in the band. Move on, and accept the awesomeness that is QotSA.
the fact the the music speeds up and slows down (very slightly) is actually a good thing...its often called 'push and pull' by musicians and it gives the performance a bit of added tension which is really important for live rock. I was always annoyed by the way Joey played the songs this one in particular.. but I've actually watched him mold himself into the situation quite nicely. And the push and pull thing is super true... can't leave home without it... I like to call it tension and release... it's like sex a big build up til the final explosion...

That's coz Dave didn't fucken play drums for Mexicola, Alfredo did ya fucken wingnut. I'm sick of douchebags always referring to Dave's drumming. Sure he's a champ, but Joey is a god among men when it comes to drums. Moron.
Right now, Joey Castillo is playing Mexicola on the broken heads of the halfwits who disliked this video.
