Hey Lucy, nice work as usual, you have a special way of looking at things and it's gives us just a glimpse of how you see the world we live in. For me personally, I would have preferred it without the humans in it, but thats just me :)
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I can agree with the no-humans-preferred view. Now, keep in mind that I purposefully went during a time when there are less people in the park... imagine the first sunny Saturday afternoon in spring... That's a crowd!
Quite beautiful, I can see why you consider this a sanctuary- its got God written all over it, I love the squirrels so happy graceful in their movements, and Mr. and Mrs. Duck side by side.
But be careful Lucy, don't take your safety for granted, hard economic times, lots of unemployed unhappy people, always carry a big knife in your purse, and God forbid you have to use it, well, the crows got to eat too. Stay safe.
@brokkenstar Thank you for your thoughtful words and your warning. I'd rather not walk around with a big knife - so instead I'm careful to stay out of sketchy areas or sketchy times of day. However to get the shot at 0:56 I did have to walk around the part of the park where guys with possibly questionable motive and business are lurking. They were nice enough though - just couldn't tell me where the Vale was either. Found it on my own. Worth the shot ;-)
Is it possible that the bridge at 0:14 was used is a number of Hollywood films? It look familiar somehow. I also love the artwork at 0:33 hovering just above the water it seems. If it IS a piece of art and not just a dead tree trunk. Well, in either cases it looks great.
@EdEditz Hey Eddy. You mean the bridge / tunnel, right? It's possible that this has shown up in movies - but more likely you've seen the similar tunnels in Central Park. Because both parks were designed by the same people during the same era, there are a lot of similarities. And yes, those bridges / tunnels show up in movies and TV shows from New York all the time.
@Slowico Danke.
Absolutely wonderful. You captured the beauty in photography and teamed it with excellent music to combine the essence of what people love. Can't wait to visit!
@Mariamarekatt Ugh, totally. Fortunately they don't usually hang around. They panic and scramble and run all over your cupboards... And scare the hell out of you and your cats ;-)
@Rutle It's truly a lovely place. While the song is great, it wasn't ideal for editing because of where the beats were, so I had to improvise a bit. I'm very close to running out of music and am really hoping some other people will come through or Jason will write some more...
@upioromnie Haha, yes the squirrels have their own NYC fashion sense here - just like the people they prefer subdued cool colors like grey and black. They're also quite pushy and loud - or shall I say determined and ballsy?
After going to the park for 12 years, this was the first time I discovered all the composer statues. At least Beethoven and Mozart were donated by the German Singers Choir.
Some of my videos will be showing in an art gallery in Chicago in mid-October. I'll be there around the 13th - 16th. Would be great if we could squeeze in a bit of Lost and Found Travel... :-)
@itsjustyu Oh, I don't think I've seen that one yet. Will have to look for it. In any case, the park is definitely worth a visit - especially in combination with all that is around it.

Was bist Du fuer ein Poet.
Lovely! A side to NY I have never seen before, almost seems tranquil! Like you say - a wonderfully diverse place, more than I expected. Thanks for sharing :)
@Doiden It's a wonderful place to get away for a bit without having to take the subway all the way down to the Atlantic beach. I'm glad I can show you something you haven't seen.
Grrrr
@rbockberlin I'm making an effort to slow down the videos a bit again. Really trying hard to not shoot so much footage anymore. That's nearly impossible though ;-)
@Mariamarekatt They're only cute until the moment they accidentally run into your apartment, freak out and scramble all over your shelves. Then they're a bit unsettling ;-)
Yes, there are definitely a lot of similarities. It's just smaller and has a wonderful multi-cultural neighborhood feel - less tourists and horse-drawn carriages and car traffic. Definitely worth a visit - also in combination with the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Botanic Garden and a stroll through Park Slope.
The weather is strangely all over the place. Lots of humidity and then enough rain for some flooding and then suddenly today: pleasant sunshine and T-Shirt weather, the way we like September here.
I went to Manhattan 3 yrs ago and it was great as well as Central Park. Great music accompany this wonderful video of Brooklyn and good filming. *****
@dynomitis I bet when they're tired of jumping around trying to save Princess Peach or whatever they're up to these days, they also like to chill out in Prospect Park.
Prospect Park also has historical connections to the Revolutionary War as does other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan that few people visit or know about.

Have a fantastic week.

WOW!
Grrrr

story very nicely told - densely but not hecticly ... well done, luci!

@rbockberlin I'm making an effort to slow down the videos a bit again. Really trying hard to not shoot so much footage anymore. That's nearly impossible though ;-)
Thank you, boKens.
Have a great first week of autumn.

@Mariamarekatt They're only cute until the moment they accidentally run into your apartment, freak out and scramble all over your shelves. Then they're a bit unsettling ;-)

Very Good Video, it certainly is very similar to Central Park, I must put it on my list of places to visit when I get the time.

@DavenMadeleine2008

Yes it is up on the blog Luci!
Another great edit, looks like the weather's clearing up a bit.😄
Thanks

@raddadblog
The weather is strangely all over the place. Lots of humidity and then enough rain for some flooding and then suddenly today: pleasant sunshine and T-Shirt weather, the way we like September here.
Thanks, Wayne.
Best wishes,
Luci

@dynomitis I bet when they're tired of jumping around trying to save Princess Peach or whatever they're up to these days, they also like to chill out in Prospect Park.
